This is by far the cheapest 3TB HDD anywhere for only $116 (shipping was $16.90 to BNE CBD).
If you check StaticIce you will find the cheapest 3tb HDD is an internal drive for $199.
This looks like an error to me because it sure sounds like the price of a 2TB drive…

Would like to know this too. Would take a while to fill over USB2, but for that price (if correct) I'd live with that.

so awesome price for the next couple of months until this becomes the norm price. and then in another 6 months we neg this price.
I think by the end of the year we'd have completely moved from USB 2.0 to USB 3.0 and we'd be negging HDD's that comes in USB 2.0 interface.
Yeah, you're looking at 14+ hours of copying to fill half of this drive over USB 2.0, compared to 4+ hours over USB 3.0.
Which is fine really, you just leave it overnight and let it copy.
You are not really copying 3tb of data that often are you.

Not really… i have copied 900GB's over USB3.0 and after a while it drop to 22Mbps ( USB2.0 Speeds ) and thats on a i7 2600 with 8GB DDR3 B3 motherboard, SATA3 6GB :) and yes i was copying from SATA3 to USB3.0
What motherboard is it? My USB 3.0 expansion card doesn't slow down.

I'm talking based on video files/iso files. However it would appear I'm a bit uneducated in this department so if one of you could enlighten me as to what files you can transfer faster on this HDD if you had USB3 instead of 2 it would be greatly appreciated.
You will get roughly 25 megabytes per second maximum on USB2 whereas if the HDD was running inside your computer on a SATA2 port for example you would get ~60-100 per second…
That's not true at all. USB 2.0 is not the limiting factor. The hard drive is the limiting factor unless you have a SSD.

I've bought. I don't have USB3 yet anyway, and the new TB chipsets are coming. In the meantime, it's cheap storage for movies etc.
