The Blueskysea dashcam is back. Should be 100 in stock but I've PMed people who missed out on the last deal so if you want this you need to be quick. Remember you must buy from AUBaiklov and Fulfilled by Amazon. This will be sent from Amazon's Australian warehouse.

The code works for

I'd say you're fine with 32GB unless you tend to have a lot of exciting road incidents. 3 minute videos are 268MB (32GB/268MB=119 videos) and after the card is full it will just overwrite the oldest video. Make sure you select FREE Standard Delivery as it defaults to Expedited Delivery. All ship out of the Amazon Australia Warehouse.

The Cam

I'll repeat from last time(s):

I'm an avid dashcam video watcher. The quality of the videos on Roadcam vary quite a bit however whenever I see a good quality video I note down the dashcam. Unfortunately, YouTube compresses their videos so it's difficult to ascertain if the details are lost by the camera or in the uploaded video. This was the post that sold me on the B1W. The difficult lighting conditions were handled quite well by the B1W although without seeing the raw video hard to tell a comparison of licence plates.

Videos

However, I've taken some test videos and uploaded them uncompressed-ish (I think) so you can have a look.

Using the Cam/App

You connect to the cam via Wi-Fi which has the default password of 1234567890. May be worth changing if you don't want to risk others connecting to your cam. You can also turn the wi-fi off permanently by holding down the cam's button. The app itself lets you choose a bunch of options such as stopping the voice notifications. Blinking green light means recording, solid green means on but not recording and I'm guessing different lights for wi-fi off.

So if you see something interesting on the road, you press the button on the side of the camera. By default, the camera records in 1 minute increments. I've changed mine to 3 but I'm not sure that's really useful. In the app, there is a list of videos on the cam called normal which is the loop of videos and Emergency Video which are the videos it takes when you press the button.

The camera comes with a mounting kit. Basically a bunch of 3M double sided stickers with plastic things you can loop the wire in. So you stick them out of sight at the edge of your windshield.

Highlights

  • 1080p resolution at 30fps with a bit rate of 12Mbps.
  • Sony IMX323 sensor.
  • Novatek GM8135S processor
  • No screen or GPS (settings adjusted with app).
  • Uses capacitors instead of Lithium Ion batteries making it better for hot climates (hello Australian summer). Works up to 70c.
  • Need to settle a road argument? Connect to the wi-fi and you can play the videos in seconds on your phone.
  • Parking Mode (Triggered by G-sensor. When an impact is detected by the G-sensor, the camera starts video recording 30 seconds automatically. The hardwire kit needed for Parking Mode is not included in standard package, buyer needs to buy it separately. $26.99 at the same store)
  • Use this as a rear camera. You can power it with a powerbank so you don't need to hardwire. You can power the cam with a USB cable (and power source).

If you are looking for an affordable, discreet, Wifi enabled camera with good video quality, the Blueskysea B1W is a great choice. Since the camera does not have a screen you will need a smartphone to setup the camera using the available app.Overall one of the best bang for your buck cameras for 2018. Better video quality than the previous budget camera, the A118C. Only unknown is long term reliability. - Dashcam Talk -

Another YouTube Review

I believe the Blueskysea B1W is the compromise between the cheap webcams (e.g. Xiaomi 70min/mai $40-$55and the more expensive quality ones (Viofo A119 Pro ~$133)). Ranked #1 in cheap dashcams on Dashcamtalk (Discussion Thread)

    • Yes please!

  • Please PM me when the deal is back. Thank you.

  • Are there any Camera's that you can actually make out the licence plates when you pause the video? I'm kinda assuming not at this point.

    • +1

Yes, they all do including this.

Having watched many dashcam videos, the main purpose is to record the incident of your car accident on the cam. If you are involved in an accident then you'll be exchanging info anyway. The video's purpose is to show whos fault it is. The exception would be if say your car is parked and someone hits it but in that case they'll have to make contact with your car so the plates will be visible (and also have your dash cam hardwired so it's powered on when car is off).

  • Next time please Neil.

  • I just tried the code for the +32GB package and it discounted to $77.24, only an extra few bucks so I made the order. Thanks Neil!

  • Can anyone recommend a dual can setup for a work car? One that records when parked.

    • viofo a129, best valued dual channel cam on market

      • If you want front and back recording, that does not mean you must buy a dual camera. Alternatively you can buy two single cameras. I have installed and used many "dash" cams and that is my preferred solution.

        • Why? Is a 2 channel attached to one file?

          • +1

@abuch47: A dual camera dash cam records front and rear into different video files, so no difference there.

I prefer keeping them separate for many reason.

            • Dual camera systems usually have a rear camera that has lower resolution.
            • Using two separate units means two separate SD cards which means the card's speed isn't so critical.
            • Wiring is somewhat simpler as both only need power cables.
            • Two separate units brings a bit of redundancy.

That said, some people like using the software that comes with these systems and they like to see both angles played back simultaneously and automatically synchronised. Personally I don't care for the software at all so it isn't a factor for me.

            • @raymosaurus: Thanks was thinking of the BV 900s, super expensive, 4k front, FHD rear. Stupid thing is the cloud feature its most important aspect only allows one dashcam with the free account.

              • @abuch47: Ahh right. Well 4k is pretty damn excessive for a dashcam I reckon. I'd be more interested in lens sharpness and low light image quality. Resolution most certainly isn't everything, and of course 4k video uses a hell of a lot of data storage.

                • @raymosaurus: Yes its hard to sift through actual quality rather than empty stats.

                  • @abuch47: Absolutely. The only way to compare models is to analyse videos online, either from review pages, or YouTube - preferably in full HD. Often the cam reviews on YouTube provide source files to download from elsewhere.

  • Oh no. Missed out again:(

  • Pls PM next time if deal is back , missed again :(….

  • I got one of these last time they went on sale. Overall I'm pleased. Bought the hardwire kit too and installed it myself using the kit and connecting to fusebox. Using a 32 gig card.

Only let down for me is if you read the manual it says the g sensor will only activate if you open the app and press stop recording.

I really wanted this unit to capture bangs or scratches in a car park after you have left the car off for a while. There is no function to automatically start recording once you turn car off using g sensor other than having the thing run 24/7. I really don't see myself parking, opening app and pressing a button everytime I park.

Have you checked out this thread for any suggestion of a possible solution?

  • I bought the 64GB one in last deal. Only unboxed it a couple of nights ago and the memory card appears to be missing.

I've already purchased another SD card from elsewhere but did others receive theirs?

  • missed out!!!!!!!!!

  • Missed out but ended up buying this instead. $74.07 but it includes a CPL (valued at $15) which I would have purchased anyway. Ships from China via SpeedPAK (whatever that is!) and quotes 2-3 weeks for delivery.

  • Please put me on the list for next time!

  • Mine just got shipped today.. arriving tomorrow.

  • Keen to be on the list for next time too please! I keep missing out on getting one for a decent price.

  • Some Cancellations coming through now….. what do I do with the hardwired charger that has already shipped?

    • Did you order from AUBaiklov and fulfilled by Amazon or just from AUBaiklov (sent from China).

Usually if you live chat Amazon can sort you out with a refund or credit.

      • Camera from "AUBaiklov and fulfilled by Amazon"
Kit from "Ships from and sold by AUBaiklov"

The kit been dispatched so how would they cancel?

        • That's kind of dodgy as that's Amazon's warehouse that has stuffed up. Figure out how much it will cost to order again currently (AUBaiklov in China). Then get them to agree to refund the difference in price between the 2. I'd add a faster shipping as well.

I've had this issue with Amazon US where they lost the order then refunded my money. Had to order again with express postage and they refunded the difference. Just make sure you have all the numbers in front of you so they don't get confused.

  • PM me when they go on sale again bud!

  • Pm me when they back bro

  • how long is the micro usb cable? can it be plugged into car usb socket for power? my 12v is always on (Ford).

    • +1

It's a micro USB but at the end is the cigarette lighter plug. Fairly long cable as it's meant to be tucked into the corners of your windshield/dash.

It can be powered by any USB cable if you have a spare USB port.
