That looks fantastic! If only it was curved

    • Too small to be curved tho

      • +1

        how?

        • how does curve benefit on this size

          • @asa79: your earlier sentence is written to imply that it can't be curved lmao

the benefit of a curve at this size is to do with immersion. it's a computer monitor, you're not sitting 10 feet away from it, you're sitting less than 2 feet away.

            • +1

@Carrian: Yea i would think 28" would be too small to be useful for curve, but interested to hear if there is a benefit?

          • @asa79: Perspective? Literally. Anything wider than your head would benefit, unless your head is 21" wide?

          • @asa79: Ask her ;)

          • @asa79: It does. Recently bought curved 27. Monitors are the best use of curved screens imo. You sit at a set distance, in the middle. They're a gimmick for TVs imo.. impressive but only one or two people get the full benefit.

    • Been using it for a day now, and dont have any issues with not seeing the sides. If i got the 32" then at that distance of sitting would of made a big difference

      • All I'm saying is it would be better if it was curved. Perspective is affected obviously as it reduces immersion of games etc. Also means text is skewed.

  • Is having IPS a big consideration if I game just occasionally?

    • what do you do with the screen other than gaming ?

    • Personally I find IPS to be much better than either TN or VA when it comes to eye candy. My Korean monitor (27VV) just died after two years and I replaced it with MSI Optix MAG27CQ. The Crossover is IPS while MSI one is VA, a supposedly quite decent one at that. I find the colour on the Crossover is ALOT more vibrant. The MSI, while not the best as reviewers found to be less colour accurate, is still very good for "gaming" monitor, but it just can't compare even after calibration. This is very noticeable in a colourful game.

For reference, the Crossover has a delta of 0.5 across the board (very colour accurate) as default while the MSI has a delta of 3.0ish across the board as default.

      • Ouch 2 years only? That sucks. I found all the cheap monitors I bought broke after a year or two, so bought a dell 27" ips 3 years ago - so far it's ended up cheaper than buying more cheap monitors!

        • I know, though part of that was me overclocking the monitor for the full two years. It was really good while it lasts as it was calibrated for pro work while having quite good response time for gaming, so you kind of have the best of both world. Was a shame it died.

          • @Bigboomboom: Umm overclocking a monitor? That's something new. May I ask how do you overclock a monitor and what kind of benefits did you get from it? I've used my LG 25inch 3D monitor for more than 6 years and only recently sold it with a computer system package. The visual quality of the monitor looks far better than today's new monitor. I regret selling it.

@HandsomeMonkey: Increase refresh rate, which is mainly what Korean monitor was bought for. They are cheap IPS (not so much nowadays) that you can OC to get higher refresh rate, and this was even made a "feature" in some high end branded monitors e.g 144Hz OC to 165Hz. Or in case of the $1800 AW3418DW from 100 Hz to 120Hz.

You can do it via CRU or both AMD/NVIDIA control panels.

        • Yeah I've still got a chimei 22 from back in the day. One dead pixel I think and it's spent a lot of time driving around between lan parties etc. Maybe I was lucky. My friend bought two and died…

    60 hz

    • It's a budget 4k, that's a given :)

      • -3

ok won't bother posting missing spec again , because they're just gggggiven

        • No need to be smart, 4k 60hz is a standard that is only bettered in substantially more expensive monitors.

          • @scuderiarmani: not everyone is aware of these standard specs, so he was just helping out

    • +2

Well 4k 144hz monitors cost like $1000, so 60hz sort of is a given.

    • 60 is fine… Takes a lot of grunt to drive 4k at more than that!

    Same model ? $399 3 Years Warranty https://www.mwave.com.au/product/samsung-lu28h750u-28-4k-uhd…

    • Wouldn't be like Futu pricing to only be competitive after 20% off….

    • +1

Thats the model below, the non QLED one and its $348 at harveys

      • It does say Quantum Dot

        • Oh sorry, that is a better price :) if it wasnt for the $26 shipping

          • @asa79: I'll await whoever negged me to swallow their pride :)

Though in typical Samsung fashion, like LG they have an absurd amount of models

  • what is the use of freesync on a 60hz monitor?

    • +1

I can't edit for some reason so i'll just reply to my self.

      I was curious so i looked…
"If your card has trouble maintaining 60 fps, the difference between Freesync and no Freesync is very noticeable."

Makes sense, i have never had 4k monitor but i guess its very taxing on even a good system.

I just picked up from harvey's for a little more with extended warranty, and looks really good out of box, no need to change any settings at 4k off an old intel NUC i5 on hdmi

    • What was the total with warranty please?

      • +1

565but on 24 months interest free and 5 yrs warranty

  • Running this of an old i5 intel nuc via mini dp to dp. Running at 4k at 30hz as the intel nuc video isnt powerful enough for 60hz but it looks great. I am setting it up for the missus for her photo editing and she is very happy with the quality of the image
