  • FYI Vodafone's Alcatel U5/U3 mobiles are 4G on Android 6 Marshmallow. I cannot see where it said Telstra's U5 runs Android 7 Nougat or can use dual SIMs.

    • It definitely won't have dual sim.

The specifications are all over the place. I am sure in store promotional material said 16GB storage. The linked Telstra site is saying 32GB.

It is so strange for a phone like this to have only 3G. It is a pity it appears to only have 1GB of RAM otherwise it might have been useful. It will depend on how much bloatware it has.

      • I gifted a friend a Voda U3. Bloatware are just the Recharge and Account Management apps. Out of the box it is reasonably snappy for an entry level mobile. After system and app updates it slowed down dramatically and started draining the battery.

        • Yes, all the app updates for all the Google services you probably don't use. Then 1GB of RAM will make it very slow. Also the software installed on a Vodafone version could be very different to the Telstra version.

    • Sorry, that information was from Alcatel's website. Although, it has a different camera in it, so I'm not sure if it's still the same.

Vodafone's U5 seems to be an inferior offering. I'm confident that this is a Telstra locked phone as it's on the Telstra section.
