Geez, pretty restrictive warranty conditions and shouldn’t they be required to have a 24 month warranty to comply with Australian consumer law?

    • +2

Looked closer, this is Grey Import so dodgy warranty makes sense

      • Not as far as eBay is concerned.

  • +2

    Dead pixels kill the deal.

  • +1

Didn't know dead pixels were still a thing with new phones these days.

    • +2

They are probably just trying to cover themselves with a policy they can't enforce.

      • Hmm doesn't sound like too good of a deal then lol.

If an item isn't as described, you can refund it within 30 days without issue.

If you paid via Paypal, it will protect you for 6 months.

These conditions are all complete bullshit and are designed to take advantage of people who don't know their rights.

I may just report their listing too. We'll see if eBay cares anyway…

          • @scuderiarmani: Yeah that 6 month thing is definitely true. I bought a server based software a year ago that died after 4 months due to the developers pulling out. PayPal refunded the full amount.

            • @Kentrolla: I had a seller that regularly had deals posted here, of which I ensure I comment when I see. They tried the exact same things, with a DOA Gear S3 Frontier, I even sent it back at my huge expense (not knowing better) and they than asked for a video of it's faults while THEY had it. Also have an AU in their name :)

24 hour Dead On Arrival (DOA) warranty - Yeah nah, eBay protects me longer than that.

Buyers pay for return postage - Yeah nah, eBay covers that

If DOA, buyers are required to inform us within 24 hours of item arrival (based on tracking info) - Yean nah, eBay….

The dead pixel MUST be located on the centre/in the middle of the screen - tell eBay that

A $35 restocking fee may apply - good luck, eBay will hate that

Screw a company trying to make up their own rules. Nothing worse than sellers adding AU to their name when they are using it to their advantage.

    • Wow, that’s ridiculous. Good find.

      • And that's not all the problems. Literally none of that they will get away with.

qd_au were pretty good back in the LG G4 days. Not sure how they are now.

I bought a new Note 9 from them recently precisely because they have a good rep and great feedback score.
The Note 9 was sealed and works fine.
Hopefully i never need the warranty.

  • What am I missingi here guys? Im trying to buy a 2nd hand note 9. Everyone claim that it's Aus stock but lost receipt. They give IMEI and Serial number and say that, just check that, it will show Aus stock….but finally, there is no where to check that number's original. My point is, not talking about brand new phone but as 2nd hand owner, does it really matter OZ or grey import? How to even know that?

    • +1

      You're missing the Forums.

    • I've never bought anything secondhand from Ebay or Gumtree for that exact reason. Having said that, I religiously keep receipts of all phones and gadgets that I buy in the event I ever decide to sell something. I've got a mint 128gb Note 9 that I bought from JB back in August that you're welcome to PM me about if you are interested.

    • The constant 10% off from Ebay is deal breaker to get 2nd phone from auction. Gumtree, Marketplace can not beat that ! Sometime 512GB duos at lower than 850

My personal experience with warranty and qd_au has been very poor.

A Nokia I purchased from them became faulty after a month(charging port). The phone was sent back and after 5 weeks the phone was returned to me fixed.

Unfortunately a few days before i got the phone off my mum to send away for repairs she dropped it and cracked the screen, which i told qd_au about prior to sending the phone.

The phone i received back from qd_au however had even more damage unrelated to the cracked screen. There were several deep scratches across the screen from top to bottom.

I contacted qd_au who stated it was my packaging that damaged the phone and that's how they received it. I asked for photos which they sent me and it only showed the cracked screen and none of the deep scratches thus proving that the damage occurred after they received it.

I responded explaining that and providing even clearer photos of the damage and since then qd_au have stopped responding.

eBay say that it's been too long since the purchase to do anything about it and I can't use Paypal as it was purchased with eBay gift cards.

So yeah, not a positive experience.

  • Ist inclu gst?

QD_AU are fine, but be aware that you will be up for 3-5 weeks wait if you need to make a warranty claim. You will save a few hundred $$ off local prices, but need to weigh up whether the inconvenience of being without your phone whilst they send it to Taiwan is worth it. They do have a local PO Box here in Sydney to send it to, but you have to pay return postage and then they handle everything else.

  • This seller is based in Taiwan so doesn't that mean this is a grey import?

    • +2

Yeah it is, hence why I hate the deceiving name.

      • +1

not sure if the items are shipped from australia or not. But if it is shipped locally (e.g. bulk imported) then i guess they can call themselves _AU.
Or maybe AU doesn't mean Australia, could be their surname? LOL Au (Pronounced as: Oww) is a valid surname in chinese.

Lol, I remember back in the day when UGG was named "UGG Australia" and the company was actually owned by americans, and products were made in china. After a few lawsuits they changed their name to just UGG.

Another thing being overlooked here: this year's Exynos genuinely is poor step-child of the SD855 for everything except single core performance, and that's up significantly on the SD855 as well.

Take a look at thorough reviews that cover your use cases in order to get an idea whether or not you'd prefer this, or a factory unlocked, AT&T or Sprint S10 from the USA.

    • The battery performance appears to be a big difference again too

      • Last time it appeared to be mostly due to the scheduler, which has been modified a few times since, but this time it's outright inferior silicon.

        • The review on theinquirer said they had to rejuice at 4 to 5hrs constant screen time. Tomsguide got 12hrs with the snapdragon version. Its enough to either make me wait, or get the US/China version sanpdragon version and forgo Volte (which Lebara doesn't even use anyway). Ironically its the snapdragon versions which are cheaper on ebay. Yet I would have thought its the other way around since Samsung should be theoretically saving money using their own chip!

          • @Sammyboy: Yeah, reading around there's a lot of issues with standby and sensor drain. That'll get patched out, but there's no denying that the Exynos will be inferior outside of basic apps usage.
