Been looking around at VPN, purchased PureVPN yesterday for $2.50 a month, today i get a $0.99 targeted ad while browsing online.

No use to me (though i am considering getting my money back on yesterdays purchase and signing up for this one. But thought i'd share for others who might need it.

Just speaking from my personal experience with them, the speeds and availability of VPNs was really spotty - I'd either be unable to connect for some reason, or it'd slow my speeds to a crawl.

They also claim to not keep any logs - this isn't true, as their logs were used in an FBI case a year or so ago.

Overall was very unimpressed with their product (I was paying a lot more than $.99 at the time) so I'd say it's probably best to look elsewhere.

yep, i've accessed US and UK netflix through this last night

  • How does this compared to pia

    • I still have an active PIA subscription from the humblebundle last year, but I bought this deal last week. PIA is better overall. More servers, better app, and more netflix servers work. I get better speeds on PureVPN though, but I've only tested the AUS and JPN servers so far. PureVPN claim they dont keep logs, but they do which is a big turn off. I only use my VPN as a proxy for region blocked stuff in Japan though so I don't mind. It's less than 20 bucks so I'd say its still worth it.

      • How many connections per account?

      • I have similar setup(2 year PIA expiring soon and 5 year PureVPN since their last deal)and I like PIA better. PureVPN seems to have servers in more countries(e.g. Greece) that PIA doesn’t have, but depending on the mode you choose(stream, internet freedom,security/privacy,file-sharing and dedicated-IP) those countries might or might not be available.
PIA is faster to connect I never had a speed issue.
PureVPN has been promising an iOS app since I paid the 5 year subscription, but no app is available yet.

Do you mind telling me what server you use for US Netflix? I’ve had no joy with PIA for ages.

          Chicago working at the moment?

        • Usa east

      • Doesn't work for Netflix Japan. Netflix app warns me I'm using a proxy and won't play anything.

  • Does it connect to Turkey & India? Please advise.

    • Looking at the program, they have a India server(180ms from QLD) and a Turkey server(400ms from QLD)

    • Netflix is cracking down vpns. It might work for now and stop after sometime.

      • The good VPN providers cycle through new IP blocks to get around this, like a game of cat and mouse

    • I use this for Hotstar India, Never had any issues.

  • Does anyone know how this goes to UK?

Looking for a VPN to get access to F1 races, ideally the BBC stream, but I'm even willing to pay for F1 Access and then use VPN to get to that country.

    Thanks.

    • I would like to know the same, any updates

Is there a location for Nepal?

  • Does it work with Amazon Prime US?

  • I use this frequently for US Netflix and Hulu. Extremely easy to connect with their Google Chrome addon. I first got PureVPN when the metadata laws came in, in 2015 and I’ve paid a discounted 5 year renewal at the end of last year.

I agree with the comments that it can be very slow - I find Saturday night is the worst but that’s a combination of peak time for the NBN and accessing websites based overseas.

  • I found that they leaked my IP address too much. I stopped using them.
