  • how many years it took Xiaomi to spit out International version? 2 or 3? (I am talking about generally about original version)

  • Where does the code go?

    • +1

      • Sorry, the current item(s) can't use this coupon.

        • Working here ;)

Vodafone TV still cheaper, Mi box has android TV 8 tho

Still waiting on my Sony TV to update to 8 and then will be just the vodafone that is behind

  • Is this comparable to a DVPAD?

I need one to brush up my secondary language via the lazy way.

  • +5

Vodafone TV is cheaper, better, and local warranty.
You can get it today nearby, or free delivery.

I like my Mi Box (despite all the bugs), but you'd be crazy to buy one now.

    https://www.vodafone.com.au/vodafone-tv $72.

    • very new to this system. what is hte advantages of the Voda vs xiaomi ? are these boxes able to stream 'new movies'? i.e. ripped. excuse my naivety in this topic

      • They do the same things.
Either will do what you want. Or "legit" streaming from Netflix, ABC, SBS, etc.

      • My Mibox can no longer do Dolby DTS+ without audio dropouts, after the Oreo upgrade. I only use it for Youtube and Amazon Prime now - I can no longer use it for Google Play Movies if I want surround sound.

      • To answer your question about 'new movies', you would still need to subscribe to one of the Streaming services like Netflix, Stan etc, unless you want to use KODI and install relevant add-ons.

    • Was this always $72? I feel like it was more expensive than the Mi Box at some point.

      • Yes. They halved the price.

      • paaji you might have overlooked this deal

  • Does it come with Chinese apps to watch Chinese dramas?

    • -4

If you are really Chinese, you can figure out how to install those apps.
Aren't all Chinese smart and good with computers?

    • +1

Trust me, the Oreo update turned the Mibox into a Chinese drama. I need to power cycle it to switch it on, as the remote unpairs within a day. Can't use Play Movies without sound cutouts. If not rebooted for a week, it gets unbelievably slow and complains about a lack of bandwidth.

    • The Mi Box is just an Android TV player. This means it runs on Android TV OS (not regular Android). So you can try searching online if the apps you’re looking for will be available on the Android TV playstore in this region. If an app isn’t available, you can still try sideloading it, but there are no guarantees it will work.

There are also Chinese versions of the Mi Box which are optimised for the Chinese market. You can look those up too.

      • Thanks I will look for some Chinese version.

  • The sale price for these is sub $85. Maybe this is the cheapest right now (I doubt it though), but it's not a good price for what it is.

  • Isn't this just a pre-sale though? As in… this could take weeks (or longer) to even ship out?

In this instance, it looks like they take 500 orders and then use that money to buy a bulk shipment of boxes and you wait weeks/months for your box?

I could be totally wrong but that's how the likes of geekbuying were doing it before.

  • Does anyone know if this model has issues with Amazon prime? I purchased an x10 a while back and the only thing that doesn't work on it is Amazon prime and its to do with the chipset

    • +1

I side-loaded the NVidia APK for Amazon Prime on mine. It had intermittant audio glitches while on Android 6. When it force-upgraded to Android 8, the only improvement was that the issues with Amazon Prime went away. I can watch movies without any issues (though only ever stereo, not surround).

  • Hey guys can u load normal phone apps on this also? Thinking maybe kodi
