  • Any warranty?

    • 3 months warranty

      • Isn't the minimum warranty length required by ACCC longer than this? Or doesn't apply to refurbs?

        • +4

          Would be based on price

        • -1

It only applies to brand new stocks.

        • +4

There is no minimum warranty length. They don't actually have to offer you a "warranty" at all. However, any goods purchased in Australia come with a consumer guarantee, which basically means that if they don't work how they should work the seller needs to fix or replace them for you. If a brand new laptop dies in 6 months, for example, it definitely has not carried out the promises that were implicit when you purchased it. fchis is incorrect; consumer guarantees apply to refurbished stock as well, but the full life of the item obviously needs to be taken into account. If your laptop dies well before its time, return to the place you bought it and ask them to fix or replace it. If they refuse, let them know you will be calling the ACCC to see how you should proceed.

  • What exactly was done to refurbish it if you didn't even put a new battery in it?

    • +17

The usual refurb for a laptop. Wiped it with a cloth (maybe even a damp one!)

      • +1

reinstall windows, make sure the key is legit and able to get win 10 for free

sterilize keyboard professionally and test all keys

        update all drivers

professionally calibrate the monitor for colour accuracy

run a burn in test for 24 hours under supervision

open laptop and clean out all dust

        clean all ports and sockets

        polish ram sticks

test wifi, cpu and ssd speeds

        • +18

That's a fancy way of saying wiped it with a cloth

          • @Hang919: I just couldn't bring myself to buy a second hand laptop, doesn't matter how well you clean it.
Those things would glow like crazy under UV/black light.

    • What exactly was done to refurbish it if you didn't even put a new battery in it?

      Spit and polish.

  • What do mean by holds charge for 2.5 to 3 hours ? as in after 3 hours the laptops dead even if your not using it ? or do you mean when using it that the battery lasts 3 hours ?

A review said this laptop battery should achieve 12 hrs of watching videos and toshiba rated it for 16 hrs which obviously isn't 100% accurate

    • +4

It means that typical usage will last you 2.5 to 3 hours, clearly the battery is degraded as (profanity) lol.

    • Its an i7, it would chew thru battery quicker then an i3

I have a 17" i7 Toshiba and would be lucky to get 2 hours out of the battery. Have been thru 2 batteries, at moment i have no battery in the laptop

      • +1

That is pretty normal for a 17" laptop. This until is an ultra low power I7 and is usually a different class to those in the 17" units which will have quad core processors more akin to an undervolted desktop cpu.

  • Hi, has it got a windows 10 Pro or Home?
    thanks!

    • +1

Pre-Installed WIN 10 With Win 8 Bios Embedded License if it was business, it will be Pro atleast

    • +2

In the title, "Win10P" which I would assume is Windows 10 Pro.

  • what's the screen resolution? And is the screen touch? Is it TN or IPS?

But OP is calling it 13.3"

You sure you have the right model?

        • +1

scroll down the listing and you will see PROCESSOR MEMORY STORAGE GRAPHICS CONNECTIVITY/EXPANSION OPERATING SYSTEM | LICENSE

        • The screen itself is 12.5" but because of the bezels it's a 13.3" laptop

          • @Agret: Hmm. That isn't how they normally measure a laptop.

  • Why does the pic show 16gb ram???

    • +1

16gb is one of the options

  • +1

One part of the ebay says 13.3" and the other says 12.5" screen size

  • +4

Have hundreds of these at work, pretty good build quality. Can’t say anything bad about them. Check for issues with wandering cursor issue that these are well known to have, fix below “if” you see it. It’s a very simple trim of some tape that was cut longer than it should have been that I believe touches the battery and causes random mouse wandering

They work with Windows 10 1809, just take note that Toshiba has not made drivers for Win10 for years so your stuck with built in driver support from Microsoft

  • One thing to remmeber as well its only 4th gen so its 2 cores and 4 threads, not 4 cores and 8 threads

  • Based on the model, these computers are 5 years old.

  • Is this a good deal? Looking to get a lappy for my parents

    • Not sure if it is a good deal or not but 1080p on a 13.3" screen could end up with small text that could be challenging for the oldies (depending on the eyesight I guess). You can however, enlarge the text, etc.
