Your call, but keep in mind most flagship phones will be 5g next year. So maybe just get an s9 for now, or wait a towards middle of year when price will drop a little bit more for s10 and stabilise. I cant justify spending over 1k on a phone that doesnt have 5g, when by end of this year and next year most flagships will have 5g. Unless you are okay at selling off your phone every year and accepting the loss. Price of these will drop when the s10 5g comes out too in a few months

  • I am wondering how people didn't notice this when the S10e deal was posted?
It was on the same page…

    • +3

It wasn't 30% off until Friday afternoon.

    • +1

It wasn’t available when the S10e deal was posted. The OP clearly says it started on 22/03.

      • Yeah, I saw the starting date.
I guess the website was giving different results for different people or glitching or pre-empting because it was available for some before that time. I wrongly assumed it was for all. Apologies.

  • Anyone had issues verifying their account using the Aus Gov portal? Tried multiple times but don't receive the email from Samsung.

    • I had issues too. I cant actually remember how I ended up fixing it cause I signed up last week but I vaguely remember having to get the email like 3 times and close out of everything on Chrome before following their link. I'm sure its a flaw in their signup system if we've both had difficulty. Best of luck!

  • I want it so bad, but I want the SD 255. Ugh :(

    • +5

SD 255? I have some old SD 400 phones, happy to sell you those..

      You meant SD 855?

      • +1

Saw $250 in another comment and wrote 255, haha. My bad.

    • +1

same, battery seems to be an issue again…

    • So I'm assuming the Australian version is the Exynos version?

      • I thought that was only for the S10e. Also the sales assistants swore the S10e was SnapDragon. -_-" Don't think they know what they are talking about.

      • yep

  • +1

PWC is 30% off for s10 too.
    $944.30 128gb
    $1189.30 512gb

An Ozbargainer at PwC Sydney.. should have a mini meetup haha

  • Anyone know how to access this as a woolworths employee?

    • +18

Yeah, resign from Woolies reapply for the same position at Coles, and from there sign in from mycoles and you can access EPP portal. Hopes that helps.

    • yes second this please advise

    • +1

      By clicking the Woolworths link?

  • +1

Aus post still not working unless management hr are aware

    • Any luck with Aus Post store yet?

  • +1

Any news of Australia getting the 5G version?

Seems crazy to pay this much for a 4G phone when you could just wait a couple of months for 5G.

    • Valid point, might be reason why they are discounting. It's true as network operators will try to up sell 5g phones once it's up and running

    • It's exclusive to Telstra at launch. Don't know if the exclusivity extends to outright purchases directly form Samsung though.

      • Don't know if the exclusivity extends to outright purchases directly form Samsung though.

If it did it wouldn't be exclusive

        • It's only a carrier exclusive for a few months.

    • 5G out April 5 in South Korea. April 11 in the US through Verizon.

      • That's sooner than I thought.

        Got any pricing info?

    • I think it's more crazy to adopt a first gen 5g.

I remember when 4g came out, the coverage was bad and the phones would have battery drain because it kept trying to lock onto 4g.

I usually change my phone every year so i see 5g more a next phone than now.

    • I beg to differ.

5G will originally be deployed in city centres only.
5G will have a stronger signal but less range than 4G.

4G should not be phased out anytime soon.

When I get 4G results like this, why would I want more speed on a cellphone? https://imgur.com/a/EB0ooqy

  • +1

    S10E has better value

    • Not when you can get 30% off RRP.

        • +1

For just over $100 more. If you are happy with a slightly bigger phone, I would say the S10 offer is better than the E.

          • @11112007: any much difference on the cameras??

            • @Homr: All three phones have the exact same
              16MP and 12MP ultra wide.

              The S10e doesn't have the 12MP tele/portrait.

              • @11112007: What's the 12MP tele/portrait?? Is that significant??

                • @Homr: Telephoto is sort of like a zoom lens. This means you can take photos of objects that are farther away without losing (much) quality, whereas the s10e would rely on digital zoom that ends up being very grainy. That being said, most people don't use zoom on phone cameras, although the shitty quality is probably why. One of the big selling points on the P30/P30 Pro is the awesome telephoto lens, which is better than on the s10/s10+, but the latter have a better wide-angle.

  • Any sub $1000 Galaxy Fold deals?

    • +12

Yes, just fold an S10 with an industrial panbrake folder.

      • +3

I got 2 S10s and glued a hinge to then.

Now I have twice the storage and ram and 4 sim cards.

The battery life is good to.

      • Thanks but now the screen won't turn on? Please instruct further

    • Yeah got some from alibaba.com. they are called different names to stay under the radar from Samsung lawsuits but underneath they are the same thing

  • -5

If this price was for the Plus I'd buy

    • +2

so late the LeEco Le 2s with 8gb ram was released in 2016

      • -1

Brand Sounds dodgy and it was in a different price range so it doesn’t count. Also quick google search finds that it had 6gb ram so stop lying

      • +2

        Galaxy S10+ 1 TB, 12 GB RAM.
If RAM is so important to Salian, then get S10+ 1TB/12GB RAM.

    • Does it have a ultrasonic fingerprint reader? A HDR10+ display? A ultra wide camera lens?

You want to compare RAM? How about compare it to Galaxy S10+ 1 TB, 12 GB RAM. If you feel 8GB is so 2018, then Samsung does have an offering for you. It's Galaxy S10+ 1TB/12GB RAM.

      • How necessary is 12GB?

I've never fully used up my 8GB.

  • -2

Just wait 3 months you will have deals like this left right centre

    • +7

Or you can have the deal now and not wait

      • Agreed. Especially for those that are eligible to claim TRS. Brings the price down to $849.60!

        • -1

Or those with access to flexible FBT arrangements at work, brings it down to about $550 post tax

          • @klonky: This sounds exciting . I work for the government, is that something that govt employees can do?

            • @lordra: Depends on which department you are with. Generally you need a supervisor to sign off that the phone will be used for business. My department, for whatever reason, allows the individual to sign the stat dec themselves which seems to go completely unchecked and is frequently done.

    • S9 is just about hitting this price bracket.

      Won't happen till next year!!

  • Says Westpac customers are eligible but when I folow their link can't see any discounted prices :/

    • +2

Welcome to the Samsung Enhanced Partnership Program
To login in to the Westpac Samsung Store, you need to be an employee of Westpac and have a Samsung account.

      • If you are a customer, in the internet banking under rewards & offer there's a link with similar description. But when I clicked I can't find much with 30% off (not on the S10 anyway)

    • Prices may vary between corporate partners

  • What are people's thoughts on this versus an S10e for $839. Worth the extra $100?

    • +1

For extra 100 I think it's worth it.

But if you are after something smaller for the sake of ergonomics S10e looks great.

      • If the price difference is only $100 AUD, I'd get the S10.

But I think the US price difference is $150 USD, in which case the S10e is better value.

If you want to spec up the storage and RAM or get dual sim, you have fewer options with the S10e.

    • +3

I chose S10e for its form factor. If size doesn't matter go S10

      • size always matters :)

    • +2

The main differences are: (1) 1440p display and (2) ultrasonic fingerprint reader. There is also the telephoto lens, but generally the wide angle lens it the preferred one which S10e has.

If none of those is important to you, then S10e, otherwise go for S10. Looking at other current gen Android flagship phones (SD855), with the weak AUD, S10e with EPP (30% discount) is surprisingly competitive. And, that's comparing to getting those other phones from overseas (Lenovo, Xiaomi), which obviously carries higher risk.

Basically, brain says S10e, heart says S10.

      • +1

Your wallet will also say S10e, when you apply a Tempered Glass Protector and an Aerospace Polycarbonate Case. The S10 naked might feel better in-hand when you're at the showroom/shop, but after a while you realise how annoying those light-glares are from the curved display, how stupid are those unintended screen touches are, how bad those fingerprint smudges look, how frighteningly slippery the device is…. and finally how expensive it is to replace the front and rear glass unibody sandwich design really is.

Here's one of the best options:
        https://www.spigen.com/collections/galaxy-s10e/products/gala…
        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Galaxy-S10e-ZUSLAB-Tempered-Glas…

        • +2

but after a while you realise how annoying those light-glares are from the curved display,

None of the edge displays phones I have had have had annoying light glares.

Glass is reflective so it's always going to reflect light in the right angle. The whole screen is reflective.

how stupid are those unintended screen touches are

          I've never had this.

how bad those fingerprint smudges look

Who looks at their phone and gets upset because it has fingerprints.
You touch it, they are expected.

how frighteningly slippery the device is….

          Its not.

and finally how expensive it is to replace the front and rear glass unibody sandwich design really is.

          Only of you drop it.
It's still expensive when you drop the s10e.

Amex gives you free screen insurance.

          • @spaceflight: Yes, that is your anecdotal experience.
Though statistically, things aren't as ginger, especially over at the iPhone X camp.

The best construction of a phone seems to be a Sapphire-Glass front, a Titanium-Alloy skeleton, and a Military Kevlar back. And such materials makes sense on a AU$900+ device. But it doesn't make sense from a business viewpoint, where you want to use the cheapest materials at scale, and give people incentives to upgrade or spend money on authorised repairs that you own profits to.

With that all said, if you do not care about the device's thickness, height, width, and weight, you can justify the purchase of these ever fragile Glass Unibody devices and simply use something like the OtterBox. But if you are someone that cares about the balance between durability and portability, then you're SoL.

          • @spaceflight: The free screen insurance is only available from the 3 amex cards

            American Express® Platinum Card, Essential or Explorer™ Credit Card;

I have the Westpac Amex :(

      • Isn't it missing one lens?

        • S10e is missing the telephoto lens, but generally, the wide angle lens is preferred over the telephoto for most people. A good telephoto lens needs large amount of light (that's why you see those really long DSLR telephoto lenses). Also, there is no dirt cheap option for 12mm ultrawide in the DSLR world.

If it is the photo, you could crop it. If it is not even in the photo, there is nothing you can do.

    • +2

Another thing is, 6GB RAM vs 8GB RAM. Which might make a difference if you’re using Dex/Linux on Dex.

  • I found that if you have a .edu.au email address, the price is - S10 (128GB) 1099 AUD and S10e (128GB) 949 AUD.

Not as good as these deals, but in case you do not have access to these EPP and have educational promotion access.

    • Where do you go to get this price? The list of partners does not seem to include any .edu.au places.

      • if you are a student you can go to a samsung store in the city and they will give you a student discount some will trow in a free battery power bank if you bargain really well =]

      • The link you're looking for is:

        https://www.samsung.com/au/estore/samsung-education-store/

Sign up / validate with a .edu.au address to access the store.

Only white S10's left in stock at the moment unfortunately.

  • The Woolworths link just redirects to the home page, anybody know if it's correct?

  • can anyone confirm that this doesnt include the s10+? i have a buddy who works for coles but dont want to bother him if this doesnt include the plus

    • +2

I work at Coles. S10+ 128gb is $1199 but on backorder until next month or something as I've read.

      • cheers

    • +1

Less discount for S10+/128GB: $1199.20. However, S10/S10+ deals on EPP, a lot of them are pre-order ones (no stock right now).

However, it's been confirmed that people working at Telstra retail stores could get the special 50% EPP offer (dunno whether that's 50% special is still on for them). One OZBer having access to 50% EPP got the dual SIM model (I am guessing S10+, honestly, at 50% off RRP, why not).

      • That discount was provided to retail corporate partners, not just Telstra.

        I got the S10 512GB for the dual-SIM: https://imgur.com/a/ARYbNAz

        • Nice.

Makes me wonder if they are losing money or if their margins are that fat.

          • @lostn: For this particular model, I am cannot be 100% sure.

This discount has been available on the past galaxy phones too, and we were told by Samsung directly that the margin were not that high. Samsung is expecting to get their money back by having retail staff demonstrating the phone in-stores and selling them.

        • Do you know if the 50% was for exactly one phone, or could you buy two (say one S10 and one s10e)? Was the code only valid for 3 days after completing training as someone else mentioned?

          • @fruxo: One phone per code. Theoretically, one code per account per employee.

My code was valid for roughly 2 months.

        • Isn't dual sim standard on S10 and S10 plus all models?

          • @CLoSeR: For the S10, 128GB is single SIM. 512GB is dual SIM.

  • Argh only bought the S9+ a month ago through EPP and finding it a little large, off to gumtree it goes and hello S10.

    • +2

You're gonna get barely anything for it. Unlucky.

      • +2

Sold for $750, $3.15 more than what I paid for it on Facebook marketplace within a few hours. Happy camper.

        • +2

Hahaha proud of you fellow ozbargainer. Good job.
