  • Kodi?

    • Amlogic 905W and looks like its one of the many MX clones. So, not sure but there are a ton of DTB files around to allow LibreELEC. I haven't played with my boxes for a while now but never had much of an issue with the 905 flavours as they are popular and hence pretty well supported.

      • So, probably yes with a bit of messing around?

        • LibreELEC, I would say more likely that not. Kodi would work as an app, well has for me on similar (and a couple of lower) speced boxes.

          • @namgib: Aw right.

Main aim is to flash a Linux distro on it, similar to what I have on a raspberry pi. Much less bloated feeling than Chinese AndroidTV skins.

      • will this play smoothly hevc 10bit 720/1080/4k files?

        • I don't really know as I have never (that I know of) tried 10 bit but the specs for the 905 say 4Kp60 10-bit H.265 with the W variant limiting that to 30 frames.

          • @namgib: would you mind testing just to confirm..
I can pm you some sample files to test if you need some of those file type..

Also what are you using now since you said you haven't played with these boxes nowadays?

1 gig ram?! Ugh, hope your patient!

    • sony android tv with 1.5gb ram seems ok as unlike phones these boxes run a single app most of the time and it is not a browser with many tabs.

      What about my patient?

      LibreElec is Ok with 1GB.

    • If you can flash the firmware this won't be an issue - Kodi will run fine on much less, even 512MB is perfectly fine.

AndroidTV might struggle if it's too bloated.

I can’t even imagine how shit something like this would be to use regularly

You could be right but it’s not a laptop replacement.

  • Website says $30.99

      Sorry,The event has finished

      Limited quantity,thank you.
But you can see other products on our website
      Thanks

If there is limited quantity, how come you can still sell them for $30.99? This seems like baiting to me. Not very impressed with your company tactics.

        • This product has 2 versions, one UK, one Australia, and Australia has been robbed. You can look at other products on our website
          https://www.coolicool.com/ thanks

          • @marrylusia: So can I get the UK device at the discounted price then?

I still stand by my previous statement that you are not a reputable company. You post a deal on here that last 45 minutes and then complain that people buy the product.

  • well that was ridiculously quick

  • Since this deal is over, can anyone recommend some of the best android TV boxes to look at?

    • +1

Xiaomi mi box 3 or the new model s.

      • +4

No, not any more. For Android, get Vodafone TV.

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/415277

If you just want Kodi, get LibreElec.

        • That's about what I paid for my mi boxes and I don't think the Vodafone box supports kayo tv unlike the mi box.

          • +2

@ausbob71: Kayo works fine on the VTV
imo the VTV is better than the mi box

            • @craigoss: Agreed. I've had my VTV for three days now, and while it's not perfect it's easily the best value around.

        • Been happy with the two Vodafone TV's I have tho I'd like more than 8gb internal….

  • Received it yesterday it has MXQ PRO 4k printed on it…. Will try and figure if librelec, linux and others can be run on it.

    • Don't bother before you check specs in CPU-Z. Mine's RK3066 not Amlogic S905. Put in a refund request if yours is the same… RK is rarely compatible with Libre.

  • Received one with a rockchip… This isn't S905 lol

    Not compatible with LibreELEC…
