    • Netgear Nighthawk M1 seems to be the fastest.

  • How can I check whether coverage and speeds are fast at my address for this plan?

    • OzTowers will help, but nothing will substitute for having an Optus SIM in a device and doing speedtests at the planned location/s of the modem especially during peak time.

Speeds fluctute wildly. I see over 100mbps in off peak times, dropping to 15-30mbps in peak times.

      • Yep makes sense I'll order a SIM now and test it out before ordering. Thanks!

        • word of mouth is good to, ask the locals

      • Would this be worth getting over NBN? According to Aussie Broadband, FTTN should be ready on 26th of April.

200GB might be tight and I'm not sure if speeds would be better although I do live right in front of a tower lol.

        • +1

          Get NBN initially.
If you get good speeds then great.
If you're on a long line with crappy copper like me, then you may want to "flip NBN the bird" figuratively speaking.

NBN has advantages of being generally more consistent in speeds and more generous in download allowance.

          • @ESEMCE: If the connection is FTTN isn't that similar to what I've got at the moment with ADSL2+ where my speeds are not great since I am very far from the closest exchange.

Also, I feel like the tablet and Optus Sport is too great of a deal to pass.

I don't have much time as both are at the end of this month so either I go with Optus or take a chance on NBN.

            • @stephentran: It depends…
Plug your address in on TPG site, they give you a speed estimate (might only work once your area goes live though).
FttN can get as high as 100/40, but can also get less than 25/5, which is still likely to be better than your ADSL2+ connection.
