eBay Australia - 75% off Final Value Fees for The Next Ten Items

40

Check your emails and Seller Centre, this just popped up in mine tonight. This works best for any items you sell for $40 or less, after that it's better value to wait for the 'List & Sell for $1' on the weekend.

Full T&Cs here, list of exclusions and conditions as follows:

  • The promotion only applies to Final Value Fees and is not available for any multi-quantity listings. Insertion fees apply.
  • The promotion does not apply to Insertion Fees or fees for optional features or services (including Feature Fees), international selling fees or any other fees set out at eBay.com.au, as varied from time to time.
  • The promotion only applies to single quantity listings.
  • Listings that automatically relist during the Promotion Period are not eligible for this promotion.
  • This promotion does not apply to listings in the following excluded categories: Businesses for Sale (11759), Aircrafts (63676), Boats (26429), Caravans/Motorhomes (32633), Cars (29690), Motorcycles (32073), Trucks/Commercial Vehicles (6049), Real Estate (10542), Services (316), Flights (3253), Tickets (1305), Travel (3252) and Vouchers/Gift Certificates (172008).
  • Listings that contravene eBay's policies or fail to comply with these terms and conditions are excluded.
  • You may be excluded from this promotion if your eBay account is subject to listing restrictions, suspended, restricted or made inactive or if your seller performance falls to Below Standard prior to or during the Promotion Period.

  • They make it high percentage off or no final value fee but when you receive money by PayPal they steal % anyway and it’s the same company so anyway they make profit.

So basically it’s a bait to rip you off

Actually, they're no longer the same company. PayPal was spun off from eBay several years ago, but they do still have a tight relationship until next year. Agreed that you still lose out with PayPal fees as well, at least with these promotions you don't get double-dipped. I never sell anything that isn't on promotion now.

Aren't eBay still the largest shareholder of Paypal?

  • +2

Is it me only as new seller or everyone the same but every weekend I get their promotion event list and sell for $1 or sometimes $3.
Then take another 2.7% +$0.30 PayPal fee.

      It's such a rip off. For example, Selling a $200 item would normally net you a 11%~ fee + 2.6% & 30c.

So, an item you assumed you'd get $200 for is actually closer to $170. I'd rather just sell it locally on Gumtree or Facebook and collect the cash, and not have to give feeBay any of it.

Plus you still have 100% liability if something goes wrong with the transaction, as eBay naturally sides with the buyer.

If it weren't for these occasional free FVF promos, I would never sell on eBay.

      • So everyone get $1 FVF right? not only for new seller! I wonder will that FVF ends one day? IF it end,i'll stop selling in Ebay

  • This is good if you're selling items ~$40 or less.
More than ~$40 you're better off waiting for the typical $1 FVF weekends.

Or, just wait for the approximately bi-monthly no FVF offer.

edit: Just realised you basically said exactly what I wrote in the OP already, oops!
