$10 Apology Voucher for Delayed Shipping with any Order @ Chemist Warehouse

150

Chemist Warehouse is suffering major delays in its online delivery system and online orders are taking up to 14 days to be sent. It is sending $10 voucher for your next order as an apology. I can see no minimum spend or expiry date for the voucher in the e-mail.

If you need something non-urgent from Chemist Warehouse (those $10 credit for $x from Groupon are nearing expiry), then now is a great time to buy. Free shipping with $50 order, or $25 with Shipster.

Don't forget to get some freebies with $30 order.

Note: The $10 apology voucher is sent separate to the order confirmation e-mail.

I don't know who these companies bother, there is no reason why these orders can't be sent same day even if they had to use email to send the details to the store with the address and a label.

But no this is too hard and would require some thought and a desire to look after customers.

They're too busy ripping off their employees to look after their customers.

      • +2

Yep, there's nobody to pick and fill the orders as their warehouse employees are striking for wages that are in line with industry standards, permanent employment instead of casualised labour hire and an end to sexual harassment in their workplace.

        • Yeah but they already start plan B with contracting out the warehouse to another 3pl, so it's a matter of time before they make everyone in the warehouse redundant.

And that's before we get to the six foot "WE ARE CHEAPER" sign budget.

Ironically the six foot "WE ARE CHEAPER" sign budget may be the reason they're not cheaper.

In this case there is a reason.

Chemist Warehouse have been underpaying their workers for years. EBA negotiations broke down. The workers went on strike. On Monday, Fair Work ordered CW back negotiations with the union. The company had tried getting the workers to vote on EBA not seen by the union.

If using the voucher you might be waiting for a while for your order. There's no one to pack and ship the orders.

      • Like Dominos, they just lost my custom….not that they'd care unless enough go the same road.

Allegations being made of some really nasty behaviour on CWH's side too, including petty things like manure being dumped near the striking workers and more serious things like vehicles hitting workers and death threats.

        • Getting Amazon levels of worker treatment.

Things are going to get a lot nastier. We are in the middle of the fourth industrial revolution where computers and robots take over massive swathes of the whole economy on a scale we have not seen before.

Just removing one industry alone eg trucking. is going to lead to massive social upheaval as in the previous ones. However many sectors of professional and low education industries are going to be automated. It is not going to be pretty.

  • Can I use the voucher to reorder my current order and then cancel the current order?

    • Someone will have to try it. I cannot see how CW is going to stop that short of cancelling and refunding your new order.

    • The email says:

Note: If you do need to cancel your order and do not wish to redeem the $10 voucher above, please click on this link to process your cancellation.

So I assume they've thought about people doing that, although who knows whether it'll be enforced.

      • You have it the other way round. Use the $10 voucher on a new order, before you cancel the old one.

        • The way I read it, use of the voucher is contingent on not cancelling your order at all.

Whether you get away with it is another matter.

  • Order Confirmation
We Are Currently Processing Your Order.
    SPECIAL ALERT
Due to unexpected logistical issues we are experiencing delay of 2-4 days on current orders.

    No $10

    • $10 voucher is sent in a separate e-mail. Mine took 40 minutes after order confirmation.

      • Thank you. Good to know and prompting me to use the vouchers.

      • Good to know. Thanks

        • 12hrs and no voucher unfortunately

  • $10 extra daigou profit

  • Must be careful, just online order their vitamins, but only one month to expire.

  • Interesting. I placed an order last Wednesday, and the site says "shipped", and AusPost have a tracking number (but no tracking info).

No parcel received, no apology voucher either.

My first Afterpay installment is due tomorrow too.

  • Boycott

  • 12hours later, no voucher.

    • Yeah same, no voucher.

    • I'm sorry to hear that. I've expired the deal.

      • All good, thank you for your service

  • It's not just 2-4 days delay as per their email. I placed 2 orders on 18th March. They are still to be shipped.

    • Order confirmation: 2-4 days delay.

Apology e-mail: up to 14 days delay, sorry, here is a $10 voucher.

Chemist Warehouse caved, so things will probably start moving soon (although that's got to be a nasty backlog to clear now).

  • I emailed them saying where is my parcel and they send me $10 apology voucher
