  • $10 delivered is pretty good! 35kg weight limit might push it for an older Plasma though. Double check your weights for older tvs.

  • I need one of this for 75 inch, but how do you decide which one? Is there a particular brand i should avoid?

Don't even think about getting this for 75 inch. I tried and failed miserably. My tv dropped and now have broken screen tv. Tv slipped through wall plate because its 600mm wide which is exactly the 75 inch back bracket size. no room to move it even a 1mm right or left.

      See it yourself.

Bought new tv and wall mount with back plate size 900mm wide…

      • Ouch! Insurance?

        • Insurance clause does not cover tv screen….

          • +1

@mady123: You should add accidental damage to your insurance. It's not that exxy, and the excess is reasonable. I have claimed a tv in the past.

      • +1

I feel your pain at the moment that happened. :(

      • Sorry to hear that. I need the right size for 75 inch. But I have no idea which brand n what price range is appropriate.

        • just look for back plate 900mm wide. two vertical brackets comes in standard size and fits easily at the back of tv. problem is wall plate size.

        • Brand probably isnt that important. Just make sure it suited to carry the weight of your tv and is rated for your tv size and vesa mount size. Also consider whether you need tilt(unlikely on a screen size of 75". But in regards to price just dont go the cheapest for a screen that size. Better off spending a few bucks more and making sure its made from decent metal as the cheap ones can be flimsy.

          • @hazzad: Brand is important, in fact in may be the most important thing. My first mount for my 52" Sharp LCD I got a Selby tilt and swivel and it was great, when I came across a heavy glass covered Panasonic Plasma it was completely up to the task.

I gave the 52" Sharp to a friend and picked up a articulating tv mount (swivels up and down and left and right like the one I had) and it's a real PoS, barely holds up the TV, always sagging so it's like it's tilted down, no way to keep it held up. I ended up asking them to replace it and they sent me a new bracket, but same as the first. I use the 2 now to hold up smaller TVs and am only just getting away with it. It was listed as good for everything up to 60", but if I tried to put my 55" Panny plasma on it the thing would fold in half.

YMMV, especially with a fixed bracket that would be less prone to exhibiting the issues that I've had, you may get away with it. My recommendation is if it's not a trusted brand, or have real (as in not fake) good reviews I wouldn't recommend getting one considering the coin people on here are dropping on TVs these days.

            • @Jackson: Sorry compeletely disagree. Ive mounted a good dozen screens. All have been a mix of ebay and Selby mounts. All have been perfectly fine and ive never had any issues. If you are a brand guy then thats all good. But for me brand has little to do with it other than a price premium. The same can be gotten at a fraction of the price with no brand name attached. The most important is ensuring that the specs of the mount match your screen and that you either know how to mount it correctly yourself or get someone in who can do so. Most issues with mount come from people not fixing to studs.

In my case using the vidaXL units, they were well over the specs of the tv, amd were still crap as they had design issues. At the least People should know not to buy something from them and expect it to be up to task

Most issues with mount come from people not fixing to studs

Give people some credit here, anyone that doesnt know that shouldn't be hanging their TV in the first place. Between myself and the guy above, thats 3 instances of issues that didnt involve not mounting into studs compared to no one who mounted into drywall (unless that group of people is too embarrased to post)

All have been a mix of ebay and Selby mounts

Isn't Selby a brand? At the least a retailer that has been reviewed well? How is someone supposed to tell what is good or not? Just buy buying anything that isnt the cheapest? We are not talking about Monster cable here…

@Jackson: Of those 12 of so ive mounted, 2 have been Selby with the rest being ebay no name brand $15-$30 jobs. All perfectly mounted and never an issue. All screen are 55-75". In the end if you feel you need to pay more than that, then thats your choice. Im happy with my choices and they have done me no wrong.

@hazzad: All good, everyone's opinions are what makes the forum so useful. I'll keep trying a few more cheapies before I write them off :-)

          I just bought 2 from selby.com.au

I haven't put them up yet but they seem pretty legit. Australian made product, been around for ages, good reviews, higher rated kgs and free shipping within Australia.

      • +2

why on earth would you put a 75 inch tv on a max 65 inch wall mount?

        • +8

because i thought i can do anything. Learned the lesson :D

          • +1

@mady123: I feel your pain! My son threw a light plastic toy on my 55 inch plasma tv a few years ago and broke the internal
panel :( I was able to recover $100 by selling the remote and the 3D glasses

      • Wait, so the VESA holes were 600mm wide on your TV, is that right? And the wall bracket was also 600mm wide, is that right? So your bearing was only few mm each side?

        • correct. than i decided to move/slide the tv to little bit right side to align it to my TV unit and >BOOOM<

  • Cheers OP :)

  • Thanks OP. Got 2.

  • Thanks OP. Picked on up.

        • I got free shipping Vic metro and I'm not a Club Catch member.

        • When I logged through ShopBack I didn't get free shipping.

  • Nice. Shame no more Duracell AA or AAA 40 packs for $20. They'd been a catch staple for years…

    • I learned by lesson the hard way with those imported Duracell batteries, never again! All of the leaked way before the expiry date and ruined so many remotes and torches :( Rather spend the few extra bucks and get non-imports form Costco or Bunnings that have never leaked on me.

      • No eneloops?

        Hand in your OzB license…

  • Thanks OP!

          • @AndyRoo: Same.. but it's okay - someone below posted an alt link for a similar product that suits me. still cheap :-)
