    • How is this relevant? You're not comparing similar ranged phones & I'm not even sure your claim on price is accurate.

I wish my new phone from ringwood woodring

"Stands up, exits comments section quietly"

    • +1

      It won't. It's made of wood :(

    • Father's Day already?

  • Waiting for Amazon to match the price.

    • would it be aus stock though?

      • I would assume so, if it is shipped from and sold by Amazon AU. (5% CR normally also applies)

    • +1

Could go and get a price beat in OW

      • +1

Nah, rejected because you need to be a member of costco

  • +1

While this is a good price you'd be nuts to buy a P20 Pro now when you'll probably be able to get a P30 on sale for not much more.

    • +6

      probably

The P30 Pro is currently taking pre-orders at around $1600 for local stock. It will probably be on sale for not much more in around 10 months.

      • +2

        P30

P30 (non-Pro) retails at around $1k and is overall better specced than the P20 Pro. All you need is another 20% off tech ebay sale and it'll be around same price as this..

Only thing that I can see is better on P20 Pro is water resistance and battery size. Battery life should be around the same though as the the P30 uses the more efficient 7nm chipset: https://gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=9106&idPhone2=953…

        • +12
          • Around
          • Another 20%
          • Around

'A few more' of those theoreticals, and it 'could' be 'almost' 'around' 'roughly' '$300-ish'.

          • -8

            @Ulysses31: P30 retails for exactly $1098.

            $1098 - 20% = $878 - $749.99 = $128.01

So when there's yet another 20% off eBay tech/phone sale, you'll be able to get a current gen P30 for only an extra $128.01.

Hopefully that's specific enough for you..

          • +2

@Ulysses31: It's like reading an industry voluntary Code of Practice.

        • P30 (non-Pro)

Sorry, my mistake. Sinners007 has a rebuttal above although you still make some fair points.

        • There is a preorder promo - free sonos worth $300 on top of eBay discount.

        • -2

No way you'll get a 10% improvement on battery life just due to the chipset. Screen is always the biggest use of power on a phone. Camera is also better on the P 20 pro.

That said, I'd buy the P30 solely because it has a headphone jack and microsd slot. Most of the rest you'd never notice the difference.

          • @freefall101: Two of the three rear cameras on the P20 Pro and P30 are identical. The only difference is P20 Pro has a B&W camera and P30 has an (arguably more useful) ultrawide camera. P30 also has better image processing due to its superior chipset. Both phones have great battery life.

            • -1

@Ryballs: There's a different setup going on. From what I've read so far the P30 has more noise in the shots and chromatic aberration issues (which means lens, not sensor). The software tweaks are junk too, it's setup to make everything look "warm".

And both may have great battery life, but one is better and that's the cheaper one.

              • @freefall101: And from what I've read P30 shots are better. Hey if you or anyone else wants to buy a one year old phone with a superseded chipset, you're welcome to. I just wanted to make people aware there is a high possibility that within a month of launch the P30 can be had for not much more.

          • +1

@freefall101: You do realise the chipset can consume upwards of 5 watts when running games while the screen is only <2 watts, right?
Oh and BTW P30 doesn't support MicroSD, they use NM card.

    • +2

By that time P40 Pro will be around and the cycle continues…

      • The Mate 20 Pro was 20% off RRP within a month of release date. If the same happens with the P30, it could be bought for ~$100 more than this. The P30 is better than the P20 Pro in practically every way. P40 is a year away mate, I'm talking within a month.

  • Good price. I dont think OW price beat costco? Does it? Also anyone seen this at any other costco in vic?

    • +1

I got OW to price match phonebot to get it down to $711

      • Just went online and can't find any Melbourne Officeworks Store with P20 Pro in stock

        • +1

You could possibly call Officeworks and have it delivered or have it sent to your closest store.

  • How does this compared to the Pocophone F1 and Xiaomi mi 9?

    • mi 9 or F1 over this.. new chipset, better battery performance

P line from Huawei is all about Photography

      • ahh thanks

I heard F1 has no band 28 which is bad right??

      • -7

P20 over both of those pieces of shit.

      • P20 pro
Better build, a lot better photography, outstanding battery life (compare browsing in gsmarena, its what that matter in batt life).
N if u can wait for ebay 20%off, u cab get it a lot cheaper.
I lioe the ui of xiaomi though, but u can always use nova launcher if u dnt like huaweis ui.

Meh not a deal, its there are better deal with telstra before and considering p30 probably will cost around this price as well.

    • +1

Lol what… Yeh get me P30 in April around the same price

      • -1

Look at the SpaceNinja comment below, yes, its still more expensive but you basically get more. What I'm saying is is that the deal is not that fantastic considering there are heaps of better deal for P20 pro in the past, even before Mate 20 pro come out. Now that the new one will release soon, one will expect better deal.

        • … Man you are really bad at expressing your thoughts… You basically said P30 is gonna cost 740ish. Heaps better deals before? It's been around 800ish for a very long time…

For someone who can't fork out extra 200-300 bucks I say this is a good deal

          • @sauce2k: There have been Telstra deal on JB-hifi for $55 x 24 with 80gb data 2 or 3 times in the past, that's the deal I'm referring to. Before you gonna say that its a different deal since this was outright, my housemate get this phone from this deal and pass the Telstra plan to someone else for $40 p/m. Its not hard at all to sell the plan on Gumtree.

  • +4

people keep speaking of a hundred or 2 hundred bucks as being around the same price… maybe it's just me but i consider like 10 bucks (when comparing hundreds) to be around the same price lol

    • -1

It is around the same price if you sell the free sonos from pre order.

  • +1

Why will anyone buy this when you can get P30 for $1098 (-$299 via sonos redemption). P30 has smaller notch, better processor, no chin and in-display fingerprint scanner.
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Huawei-P30-Dual-Sim-Pre-Order-ET…

    • Unless you really want a sonos speaker I don't know how much value this sonos will realistically sell for. $200? Still a sizeable difference in price ~20%. Not everyone wants the latest tech that just came out

    • P30 has much better low light photos too.

    • Because the P30 you linked is not P30 pro, and this one is the P20 pro.

      • lol

      • +1

        P30 > P20 Pro

    • Wait for 2 months if u r not in a hurry, prive should ho down a bit and ebay discount coupon shouod be handy. P20 prp or p30 pro, they are both good phones.(no i dnt have p30pro).
Its just how much of latest gadget crazy u r, but p20 pro mate 10 pro should be more than enough for calls, browsing social media and watching vids.
