  There are new announcements due from AMD in April. Zen2 and Navi. Radeon vii is a fill in card before Navi starts with lower range models, first.
  
  But, there are far too many different nvidia cards available under each model, so the discontinued products are probably to make the range more sustainable. nvidia are also due to announce new cards, but that is not expected until the second half of the year.
