Not the cheapest prices for the 2080s.

    Galax 2080 $889

ASUS 2080 $863, believe it's back in stock

The 2070 and 2060 seem ok.

Same models, but not really the same cards. Galax cards tend to get quite warm. ASUS ones probably run better and are worth the extra $$$

      • +4

I linked to the exact same ASUS model, I'd know, I bought it. Its $40 cheaper, how's that not better?

The dual fan Galax is over $100 cheaper than the ASUS equivalent, that's hardly a bad option.

The budget ASUS models aren't like their Strix/Rog cards. The budget options are all just that.

Ah yeah. Fair call. I didn’t see your second link. Just saw the Galax one. Easy tiger ;P

@[Deactivated]: I love OzB. There is so much pent up, passive aggressive anger on here that we all pretend doesn’t exist. It’s the strangest and most amusing thing. God bless OzB. No place like it.

            • @[Deactivated]: FWIW I didn't neg his 2nd comment lol

But yeah this site is entertaining

              • @scuderiarmani: Lol. Yeah it is! Love it.

@[Deactivated]: It's computer parts in general. People get really passionate about their computer parts.

              • @remedycrd: That’s true. Same with the whole iPhone vs Android posts. Or my absolute favourites, the general question posts, lol… man do those posts get aggressive fast!

What's everyone's views on whether the 2080 and 2080ti will drop price by a lot soon? Just got rid of my 1080ti.

    • +3

It'll likely depend on Navi for anything noticeable.

Why would you get rid of a 1080ti?

    • +1

No, not a whole lot any time soon.
Even through their life they wont drop huge amounts, they are big and pricey chips, they will look at replacing them in 12+ months though.

Try and find yourself a good deal on a 2080ti, its a reasonable jump from the 1080ti, the 2080 is not.

That said for others, the Asus 2080 dual OC seems like a half decent card for under a grand.
Its the 400A higher binned GPU, and although its got the reference power delivery and board, the BIOS has a high TDP upper limit and the cooler looks great, should allow for some good overclocks (Though even the factory isnt bad itself)

On a side note i recently picked up the 2080ti Gigabyte Gaming OC card and im very happy with it. Found a 2nd hand card on ebay with 10% off coupon.
Ive got it running at 2ghz, thats 20%+ over factory clocks which is showing basically 50% higher 3dmark GPU scores than a stock 2080, certainly less of a disappointing card running that these speeds.

  • I got rid of a 1080ti, not 2080ti.

    • +2

Typo. Still the question remains. Especially if you are looking at a 2080 which is essentially pointless.

    • Why though? It's still a flagship / crush everything GPU for the foreseeable future.

      • 1080 Ti price looks to have held up since 2017. What's in your system now?

  • Yeah I get it. Dlss and ray tracing just aren't big enough to justify switching to 2080. I suppose 2080ti is different story but hell those cards are expensive.

You need to learn how the reply button works :p

The first time im gonna say No to a Blowie

    • I'd normally agree, but I'm building a sff pc and this is probably a viable option.

I do hope it's not too noisy though.

    I thought two RTX2080 for $999.20 LOL

  • It seems nvidia knows something, we don't yet.

    • Their share prices plummeted I believe recently.

Maybe they are their own worst enemy and AMD wasn't necessary to bring prices down.

      Looking at you next Intel….

  • What does the “dual” word means here?

    • I was also confuses think it means dual fan. Dual super fancy bladed bearing protected fan thingy

  • I've got a one month old 1080ti strix from a miner and I nearly bought this to replace it. If it comes back in stock is it really that much of an upgrade. I won't cost me anything as I'll sell the 1080ti and I'm thinking that resale value will be better in a year. Comments would be appreciated.

    • RTX 2080 is ~10% better than a 1080 Ti. Where are you selling your 1080 Ti for $1000?
