Pretty close to being the lowest price on OzB for XS MAX 512 gee bees

    UPDATE:
Shipping is showing FREE for me …

In this case, plus combined with the fact that this a whopping $470 off Apple AU pricing, which makes it nearly 20% off

I declare it the lowest price for XS MAX 512 gee bees on OzB

  • Great price!

It’s RRP is excessive, but much more palatable at sub-$2k for the 512GB. I’ve been very happy with my XS Max since launch day.

  • +7

Phones way to expensive! $2k just wait for the. New version.

    • Agree, I'm waiting. My current iPhone will handle that, and love it. 5 months.

  • +1

Would this be worth getting or wait out the Note 10 which would be 5g capable. Been using my 6s Plus for 3.5 years already and will actually be travelling overseas within 60 days.. Thoughts?

    • +7

First question you need to answer for yourself is whether you want an Android or iOS device.

The idea of 5G sounds great, but I’d expect we’re a few years away from it having reasonable coverage and battery life to be worth it, much like the early days of 3G and 4G.

Current 4G networks are already mature and for the most part excellent.

      • I've used a note4 before and quite liked it. That was in-between a 4+ year old iPhone 4 and the current being an iPhone6s plus. I returned the Note 4 when I cancelled a contract and got the 6Splus outright. I think either way I'm ok probably more used to iOS however I think the main debate is do I even need to change.. or wait till this one goes kaput. After a few years it's hard t decide cause generally there are some changes you don't really notice until you actually use the phone.

I have both Android.. note 8 and iPhone for work … since changing from iPhone 4 to android (htc m7) i can’t see myself ever going back to apple for my main phone … then again depends on the user likes as others have posted. I don’t like the current Samsung and apple prices tbh … I don’t think any of these phones have features that warrant the prices close to 2k … I thought paying $878 for my note 8 was ridiculous Lolll chances of better prices from Android base id definitely hold out for a flagship android.

            @scud70: Thanks scud70..
I think your review is the best I've seen. An actual user of both OS with personal experience to back it up.
I'm so tired of those android users trying their very best to insult ios users for reasons I can never understand.
            it's just a phone!

I just wanted to thank you for this review. ^_^

            • +1

@Andreu: :) no problem appreciate your reply, i've used "smartphones" from when they were PDA's O2 htc etc (windows CE based) to iOS, Android OS, Windows mobile OS … so i get asked my advice by friends for other friends or family and first thing i ask is what OS are they used to then give them advice on whats good out there deal wise … i personally dont like Apples pricing (never have but again personal view)and now Samsung's, i think its getting out of hand and its diminishing the value for money aspect of these devices…

but thanks for positive feedback :)

@scud70: I decided 1.8k is still too much for a mobile phone… So I think I'm going to wait out the Note 10 and see if it comes with a bundle or price error/eBay discount or something on OzB :P At least it will be 5g, it'll tick all the boxes but if it goes above $2k then I'll just wait till it drops to the $900-$1.4k mark which judging from Android phone prices should be by the end of the year for the Note 10.

Also, thank you for your thoughts! :)

          • @scud70: same i switched to M7 from iphone4.(the iphone 4 still texts and calls no problem today ! my mum's secondary phone). and i just switch back from S8 to max. i gotta say, i like it. other than the price, i am liking it.

again everything really comes down to personal preference, there is no point to compare unless enough information(requirement) is given to do so.

for me, i have a bluetooth key tracker, and xiaomi smarthome stuff. those 2 thing used to be buggy on my S8. unless i leave my s8 completely stock, (no background management, no dev option tweak, no 3rd party optimise software, and get rid of the habbit of closing down background app asap) the widget just wont work. it is annoying. but ever since i swtich back to iOS, there are so many changes. and this is what i like, coz it just works. after all day back home, i can just press the widget to oprate smart home, it respond instantly. i know this might have something to do with xiaomi iOS app itself. but when it comes to background app management, and battery management, it is just so easy on iOS. so for now, for my needs, ill staying on ios.

            • @Hornpub: Thanks that's why I stick with ios … but XS Max may be my last ios device..
thinking of jumping ship to test Android .. I tot the same after 7.
But still went for the 256Gb XS Max. Very happy with my purchase so far.
$1.5k (after all discounts and TRS :X ) I think I'm already crazy to spend so much on a phone.
Won't be any higher than this price….

spend $1900 to buy an iPhone or to spend $1400 for Galaxy s10 plus + $499 ps4 pro.

    • +4

Depends what you use your phone for. IMO most phones get the job done, but a gaming console provides hours of additional fun/entertainment.

    • +3

What are both phones worth in 2 or 3 yrs on the second hand market when you upgrade?

If you want an android phone, get one.

      • +2

yeah, not sure why android users seem to have the need to reinforce their buying decision over apple users to make themselves feel smarter …..if you like android keep using, if you like apple keep using.

it comes down to apps and some people are into facetime and imessages, etc. due to ecosystem eg mac, ipad, apple watch etc or google tracking even with location services turned off.

it’s like the fans of the xiaomi poco who say they don’t need nfc or band 28 ….some people do so they make choices that suit their needs.

    • does s10+ has 512gb?

      • +1

        They all have expandable storage

    • +2

Why stop there? You could buy a Nokia 3310 for ~$90 and have $1.8k change since we're comparing Apples with oranges.

      • Exactly, well said!

  • +1

Absolutely love mine. My first iPhone, had since October, and still blown away by the speed and battery life.

    • -4

Nether of those are superior to the S10 speed and battery life…

      • +5

        my s8 became trash after half year. so yeah……(6 year andriod user, M7 M8 M9, S7 S8)

      • +2

I mean even if you just count benchmarks, the iPhone is more powerful?

  • +2

    Free shipping.

No need to walk past a handful of homeless people, to spend $1900 on a phone.

  • +1

    Tennis Match.

It's a great device but with 5 months before the release of the new model, it's probably better to wait unless you really need a new phone now.
All signs point toward a redesign this year instead of just a spec bump.

    • You probably need to wait few another months for price of the new version to come down though (I don’t think Apple’d drop the current price point for new version plus weak AUD). This works for me since my 7 plus has just died on me (water got in coz’ of broken sim tray rubber…)

      • Your worry shouldn't be the price drop of the NEW version to come down, but how much value your current iphone would lose in 5months.
It's still an awesome deal nonetheless for people like yourself who's phone literally cannot be used.

        • yeah, my roommate sold his X and get a max, didnt really lose much money

  • paid ~2k last week to Mobileciti for the same phone, sigh…

  • +1

Definitely worth the wait for 5 months or so, unless your phone is literally unusable. Good deal nonetheless.

    • But unfortunately, I doubt AUD1900 would buy you the top of the range iPhone 11 Max in ~6 (or even 12) months.

      • -1

when a new phone comes out, apple stop making certain models so that people grab the new one e.g they stop making old 512GB model , and then then there is the rush for .….

If you want it just buy it an enjoy it,

  • Pretty sure these guys don’t have a retail shopfront anymore.
