The plot thickens just a bit.

    • +17

I think it's getting thinner and thinner but maybe that's just me.

      Oh right, that's my wallet.

      • I got on to Ebay chat last time they had one of these "eligible items" deals and was advised

…the code is only for the top 10K domestic seller…

    • My waist is thickening just a bit.

  • +1

    Thanks OP.

    Code expires : 08/04/2019

    • Thanks, out of interest where did you find expiry? I couldn't find it anywhere.

      • +1

When you find a qualifying item on eBay, there's a popup that displays among other things:

"Enter code at checkout to redeem. Hurry, your coupon expires 8/04/19. Terms and conditions apply."

        • You can't trust that tho. In the past when the offer runs for as long as "displayed", it has ended before what is shown there. It probably will last to midnight Sunday considering that is the end of the weekend etc.

          • @Major Mess: Well point two of the T&Cs does say "eBay reserves the right to cancel the offer at any time." but with several of the past promos they've continued on beyond the weekend and finished when scheduled rather than being cancelled early.

People are spending less at the moment so I think eBay aren't hitting their "discount budget" with these promos, hence they're running for the full duration.

  • still gift card excluded :(

  • +2

I'm getting the shits with their new policy, it's not coming up on anything i'm looking at.
‘Eligible Items’ means all items listed on eBay.com.au where these terms and conditions are found and the coupon redemption code PLOT10 is displayed in the item listing
(and yes complying with all other criteria, I can read)

    • +4

Agreed. Nothing shows up for the items I want. This new policy sucks.

      • Not much shows up for me either. Very hit and miss
I think it's just for some sellers. Maybe they pay extra?

        • +2

I believe this is the rule I've checked an item which doesn't have the mention of the code and the 10% off is applied

  • All the items i want it doesnt apply to. Speaker, RC car, watch

  • can this be used on auction items? want to buy macbook pro

  • +2

    These new conditions are terrible

  • Yeah looks like nothing works. LOL

  • +3

They have a whole page for the 10% eligible items

    https://www.ebay.com.au/e/coupon-offers/take-10-off?_trkparm…

It's definitely not sitewide or whatever, it's selected product

    • Yep, only 10,000 or so products seem to be eligible for this. None of them are auctions. Most of them are for new/refurbished condition.
      BS.

      • Yeah i don't know what that list is all about but it's more items than that - that list even has items that are under $120 which wouldn't qualify for the discount…

    • It doesn't say sitewide.
It uses the term "across ebay", hence there are items across ebay that qualify, but not all of them.

  • Meh, it's selected items only.

  • +5

    Sweet!!! Just saved $120!!

    • Out of curiosity, What kind of item?
I can't find anything it works with that I have in my watch list.

      • +6

Haha they probably mean by not buying anything…

      • some security cameras

  • +1

I contacted them and its selected items only where the listing shows PLOT10. SO almost every item I wanted to buy doenst work. Rubbish. Seems to only work on new items from sellers with reputation and many sold items, so mostly stores.

    • +1

I dont know how they decided what's an eligible item or not, maybe they done rock, paper scissors. I just saved $38 from a seller with only 179 feedback and just 28 of those in the last year.

      They have lost the PLOT.

  • URGH. Literally used the 3% on a $600 item yesterday.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/448178#comment-7129725

    • Lesson learnt? Always wait for a 10% discount.

      Also don't forget cash rewards

      • +2

        There is none on ebay.com.au

    • what was the code for 3% the 10% isnt working

      • +1

        PLACE

        • Thank you. Didnt work either

          • @Bruno28: Use PATCH if you have two items, at least you'll get something back

  • -1

OP and I have very different views on 'good ole', the 10% off I knew, let me get 10c back from a $1 purchase…RIP ole fren.

  • Does anybody know why coupons don't work on my main account but work with my alt account?

  • Seemed to work fine for me on an item from Mwave ebay!

  • i knew it ..

  • Like all the other recent 10% off codes I can’t get this to work on any item I’m interested in (used items mostly).

  • Is there a search link?

  • It reall sucks when Ebay's coupon no longer working with Auctioned or Make an Offer items.

    • Just bought something with a make an offer item @ $1200 got $120 off

      • good to know…last code did not work with Make An offer item I wanted to buy. BUt it was an auctioned item with Make An offer option.

  • +4

Their advertisement says "Take 10% off across eBay" this is deceptive marketing I assume accross means sitewide, do we have any ground to report it to the commissioner?

    • +4

How does "across" equate to "sitewide"?
I am assuming that they are using it as a preposition to suggest that the discount spans different categories, but is not 100% inclusive.

Alternately, if someones slaps you across the face, they aren't necessarily (and not likely to) making contact with your entire face, just a portion of it.

      • +7

Yep, I travelled across Australia (but didn't visit every single town) ;)

    • I tried purchasing $120.65 of item and it’s not applicable !! Really sucks !!

      • I had same issue. It is not site wide. It just covers certain products site wide.

  • Damn it, not applicable to car parts again

  • Just used it on a desk I was watching.. Thanks!

    • +5

Oh my, if you enjoy watching desks wait till you hear about television.

      • Any recommendations?

  • -1

    So, currently no %5 off, just a lousy 3% ($30 min) or a lousy 10% ($120 min).

  • Awesome just bought a new s8 for $427.50. these have really come down in price.

    Edit:
Oops, I didn't read the description well enough and it's 'new - never used' so it's factory seconds.

Does anyone have experience with factory seconds? Is it worth the risk?

    • +2

Would cancel and buy elsewhere if I was you

      • Thanks. I've put through the cancel. It really is misleading when the condition is listed as new but you need to dig deep to find out the other important details.

I'm having trouble finding a new s8 deal, everything I try doesn't work with the code. I'll be grateful if someone finds something

      • Hoping I can get some assistance again. I found this s8 down to $520. It appears to be Aus Stock but I think it's a Euro model. Are there any problems with that?

        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BRAND-NEW-Samsung-Galaxy-S8-G950…

        • +1

"Sealed may be Broken For Inspection purposes
If we are out of stock in Australian warehouse then we will ship from Overseas warehouse"

Which I think translates as: definitely coming from overseas and probably opened/refurbished.
          Also only 12 months warranty.

Honestly - I would only get an genuine Australian delivered model, thus the full proper 2 year guarantee via Samsung. A lot of these importers use their own mystery repair shops.
Get the Aussie version sure it will cost more - it will definitely be worth it in the long run If you need to claim warranty it will be via Samsung and will be done right

          • +1

@King Tightarse: Right I see that makes sense. Thanks for the input I really appreciate it. Hopefully there will be a sale on a genuine model over Easter.

          • @King Tightarse: At least it doesn't read "Sealed, may be broken."

However it is 100% an overseas model ("PLEASE NOTE: Overseas Model"). As for the Warranty:

            1. All the brand new products come under manufacturer warranty. You have to contact manufacturer customer care centre to claim your warranty.

So good luck with any warranty claims on your imported phone.

            • @Tiggrrrrr: I didn't buy it for the reasons king tightarse explained. I'll wait until something juicy comes by over Easter

  • Thanks for the Revoker badge eBay!

  • +1

D'Oh, knew it. Could have saved $200 if I waited 2 days.

    • Ouch, my loss is $42 for not waiting. Actual tears.

      • Were your items eligible? If not, then stop the tears and save on kleenex.

        • They were eligible…

          • @cc23: Well, there's probably a cheap deal on kleenex somewhere on this site…

  • OK I have found the exact same items WITH the code from some seller and then WITHOUT the code with another - both listed in the exact same category, same exact product
Perhaps its only for stores or 'promoted' listings - very weird

  • Any Xiaomi Note 5 deals?

  • +1

Got a bit excited seeing the "10% Across Ebay" front page banner, inferring that this is a sitewide deal. It isn't. Just a standard prejacked fake-sale on selected items. This "deal" really deserves a neg for the misleading advertising.

    • Check out the related tab - theres plenty of good deals from this 'prejacked fake sale' https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/448948/related

      • -2

Just had a look at your page. Don't take it personally, but it is still a fake sale. eBay has millions of listings, yet that page covers 10 or 20 or so items out of the selected 10000 items. And at best, they are just mediocre. Take away the GoodGuys TV's (good, but not amazing prices) and you are left a very fake sale.

        • +1

Why do you only think theres 10000 items? - Also some of the Good Guys tv prices are cheapest yet… Saying that, it's not super clear from eBay as to what gets the discount and what does as per the comments above…

  • -1

For me Amazon been getting my dough lately , they use to get it with Genuine 10% off Site sales .

  • -8

Glad urban someone happy with 10% off 10,600 items when in the good old days less than a month ago most of the millions of items on Ebay minus 4-5 stores and categories'.

    Not a little difference , HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE .

    • It's not off 10,600 items - look at any of the big sellers with lots of items - TGG, Big W,Myer anything over $120 from them is 10% off - not sure what is with the 10,000 item landing page as it even has items listed for less than the min spend amount

  • -2

Looked at some prices in it , guess who is BACK :)

    Next Ebay deal tks .

  • +1

I am 100% sure it is not a jacked up discount like the 20% ones. It is true that it not site wide but the discount is genuine. I don't know which sellers people are looking at. The items I am interested in, the prices are still the same this week, this month and last month. I note that the discount does work for regular sellers for both new/refurbished/used items, with high rating (reward the consistent good sellers?). For overseas sellers and irregular sellers of used items, the discount does not work.

  • the code doesn't work for me…strange.

    • ‘Eligible Items’ means all items listed on eBay.com.au where these terms and conditions are found and the coupon redemption code PLOT10 is displayed in the item listing.

  • +2

Four things in cart, no combination of them reaches minimum spend. I hate these new non-site-wide sales

  • Anyone know why I can't use this on a GPU that I won with make and offer????

It says 10% on any item on ebay - but it says cannot use this code with this item..

I only made the offer because of the bloody 10% off!!!

    • It says 10% on any item on ebay - but it says cannot use this code with this item

Ignoring the fact that 10% on would be an additional 10%, where does it say any item on eBay? This deal is for

      10% off Eligible Items

  • -1

Having fun ? Don't say I didn't try to warn you guys . Last 3 out of 4 having problems .

    • +1

Yep, last 3 having a great time - thanks for asking x

  • +1

Saved $64 on media shelving. Thanks!

  • +1

Thanks OP, just saved $170 on a gaming laptop I had in my watch list and my wife saved $57 on a 128GB Ipad. Now we're sitting on the front fence waiting for the postie to arrive :-)

  • +2

Bought a bunch of paintings, cameras and window cleaners. All 10% off. $400 saved. Thanks, OP.

Code seems to work for everything in my Watch List - all are BIN sales.

  • there some items this simply wont work with outside the exclusion list ?

  • +1

I just can't seem to work out the conditions behind this. I thought nothing I came across was eligible but realised that it's just not showing the eligibility in the eBay App. If I use the desktop site I can see the ones which are eligible and it's many more than I originally thought. It seems to just be items from highly rated sellers. My items all seem to be eligible as a non-store Power Seller (I sell primarily Used items) but I've found others which have higher/more feedback who don't seem to be eligible.

New, Used, Auction, BIN don't seem to be triggers, but I haven't yet found a single item from a small seller with the coupon available.
