Used my two grand phone budget to help people back with the Kiva deal, unfortunately.

Yep - careful. It's seller refurbished and not manufacturer refurbished.

I bought an iphone X from greengadgets last year. Display went off after some time and went to the Apple Store and they told me my phone is waterdamaged and had no proper sealing anymore. Greengadgets refused to uphold their warranty as a 3rd party (in this case Apple) tried to repair the phone.

I bought lots of refurbished items from Apple without issue but this was not my best experience.

Would not touch this at this price.

  • Will be nicer if it's factory Refurb…

i’m not into used phones but
s10 doesn’t run facetime or imessages which other family members use …. not sure why people focus on hardware and android if there are apps on ios android can’t run but people might like using.

and of course some people don’t like being tracked ….android user agreement states you are allowed to be tracked by radio tower location even if you decide to turn location services off.

        • Tell me more as I want to shift to an Android since Apple is pricey. Other stuff I don’t like about Android is how is allows Facebook access to your information. 1) it can’t be removed 2)allows fb to read messages once you use it for sms verifications

          • @kehuehue:

            1. While facebook can’t be removed without root, you can easily disable the app, it won’t run and appear on your phone anymore.
            2. In the privacy setting you decide which app get to access your messages, contacts, locations, storage and so on.

plenty of apps that do the same things facetime and imessages, they just aren't built in on android.

        • All phone can be tracked by radio tower location, even dumb phone can be tracked, otherwise how your phone finds it cellular signal.

I bought a 7+ from them over a year ago. The phone looked excellent, no regrets! Also, if you are not happy, they accept returns from memory, double check. That gave me piece of mind. But bare in mind these are not factory refurb, they may show that phone lived in Otterbox (mine did). Mine didn’t have earphones etc. but, the phone is great.

Why are iPhone's being advertised as "factory refurb" when they are in fact 'used'.

      • +2

I suppose if it’s refurbished in a “factory” then it’s a valid claim. All they probably do is spit on a rag and give it a clean
Maybe it’s done in here http://irti.co/2871

        • that's how ebay sellers are selling grey stock as AU stock with AU warranty. The stock is located in AU. And when you do warranty, you are returning it to some place in AU. Therefore, technically it fulfils the claims. But it's not what people are looking for in AU stock. This makes purchasing things on ebay quite tricky if you're looking for actual AU stock.

  • when apple refurbs something, which parts of the original phone is retained?

    • If you are referring to Apple Certified Refurbished they will have changed at least the Chassis and Battery. So IMO only this method for an Apple product can be classed as "refurbished".

      • How about the LCD screen?
