Birds Eye Microwave Chips Crinkle 140g $2 @ Woolworths

101

TL;DR. Microwaveable chips available at Woolworths for $0.50 off.

A news article regarding microwaveable chips caught my eye commuting back home after work (slow news day). I of course reacted with disgust since soggy chips is as appealing as going to the bum doctor. Decided to give it a try anyway cause…. chips in 4 minutes right? And it was actually pretty good!

I tried these once and they were horrible. Followed instructions and they tasted just like microwaved chips.

they tasted just like microwaved chips.

I guess you get what you paid for…

      • -7

Of course you get what you paid for, the most stupid truism ever used here and by many.

Truism - "a proposition that states nothing beyond what is implied by any of its terms"

You bought it, so you got what you paid for….. which is what you bought

        • +3

Its not most stupidest. Probaly ranks in 50-100 range

          • @Sozin: I think people here misunderstand. Its not value that I am disputing

Its the saying (truism), which rings true for anything you buy.

            You paid,
            You got it.

Hence you got what you paid for.

            Whereas saying

You didnt get value for the money paid

            is more true.

            At least one understood 😀

@RockyRaccoon: don't worry, uni holidays will be over soon and you can re-join your intelligentsia friends who can pat you on the head and tell you how smart you are.

            • @RockyRaccoon: As one who understood i just didnt feel you deserved a pat on the head for non original thinking.

              • @Seedy seed: Fair enough, but using that argument, JV’s comment wasn’t original either. (Which was my point).

Moving on, I’ll take supabrudda’s comment to heart and re enrol at my old alma mater and enjoy getting a coffee at the ref which I hope will be worth paying for. That is unless I get hounded out for having a few grey hairs 😃

Once you go airfryer you never go back.

  • Microwave needs to have a proper crisp function and crisp plate or you will get soggy chips

    • +1

Nope. I have a no name brand microwave that does not even have the rotating glass plate in it and these came out fine. Not sure what the heck is in there but something makes the chips actually pretty crispy.

    • mine were mega-crispy. hardly edible. I think I heated them too much!

  • Plus Made in Germany :D

  • These were half price in Feb and March though still very expensive unit price. I agree with the OP, surprisingly decent but once was enough.

That was hilarious, you can actually hear the crunch :) Thank you, will check out more of his vids!

    • How will he cook them without electricity?

  • Tried. Average. Don't recommend.

  • Everything I've heard about these chips (until just now) is negative.

    I'm going to steer clear.
($2 for 140g is also quite expensive).

Btw your TL;DR has nothing to do with what your saying, nor is it long enough to need one. That title was amazing though haha.

  • Yeah, nah.

Absolutely horrible… Amongst the worst microwave food ive ever eaten, only beat by that on the menu frozen meals.

Horrible value at any price, even free. Avoid.
