Looks decent. Does it use a cloud account to send captures to your phone? Can that be turned off? If I just want to use the RTSP stream on ZoneMinder, do I have to muck around creating an account to set it up?

    • Hi friend,
Cloud storage is not support, however you can use the TF card or SD card to save the video or picture.

Anyone got this and can/cannot recommend?

if anyone's not done any research into security cameras it's worth checking out ipcamtalk.com - general consensus is avoid wifi cameras if you can. I'm using EOP to get Ethernet to my camera's power source. However, my setup cost a fair bit more than one of these, so it's not a fair comparison

  • Possibly a dumb question, but if you have an Arlo or something set, when the battery is running low, do you get a notification?

    • Yes. Well in advance.

  • Deal or no deal? Anyone got insights into this? Bloody kids keep trying my car and I want to get a nice picture of them next time they decide to start causing mischief.

    • What's the light like? If light is decent, an inexpensive camera like this might be ok. However, if using IR at night, cheap cameras might give an ok still, which is fine if the crims face the camera and stand still for long enough to get a decent exposure. If you want something that can take a decent shot with movement, expect to spend a couple of hundred. That said, even a cheap cameras can be a deterrent for amatuers.

      • Fairly chill street lights. My Xiaomi XiaoFang is not cutting it. I think this will do a way better job.

Deterrent is one thing but these kids really don't seem very clever. Which means it's likely more gonna end up as evidence. I'm so bored of them trying shit on around my street. Cops don't care but keep asking 'is there any surveillance footage?'.

        • I can't comment on this specific camera, but what about a Dashcam turned around? Car light comes on when door opens and dash cam is nice and close to the action.

If you've got more to spend, I got a nice shot of kids trying my car doors on a dahua starlight camera, but expect to pay $200++ by the time you've installed it.

          • @CacheHunter: Trying to avoid spending too much money on it but I think a battery operated dash cam with wifi might be the way to go. I'll keep looking - but very tempted to pick this one up.

Can’t comment on this camera but I did buy the 720p one a few weeks ago and it’s not bad.

Has a web interface you can log into and configure things. Can also access the camera on my iPhone using Livecams Pro. The rstp connection details were in the manual and I also found it worked using the “Amovision Profile 2” or a “Wanscam HW0045” profile.

I set my ip cameras to use an invalid gateway and dns server so they don’t go via Chinese servers. I connect to my home OpenVPN running on a raspberry pi and can then access all cameras using their internal ip addresses from iPhone LiveCams pro app as well as an android ip camera app. Over 4g connection I get around 20 to 25 FPS on the GENBOLT so good enough to see if the dog hasn’t escaped.

Wifi performance is pretty good on the GENBOLT I got considering it is located outdoors and my wifi AP is in the garage. Camera also had an Ethernet socket on the end of the lead along with the power socket and reset button.

Micro Sd card is internal and you have to crack the camera open to install it. This breaks the warranty sticker they put across the outside of the camera so not sure where that leaves me if I need a repair, hopefully won’t need it.

Motion detection is a bit so so. It defaults to 50 but is too sensitive. Setting it to 40 is not sensitive enough so still playing with this feature.

I had previously bought a Jodan but it only works with native app through Chinese servers and performance very laggy so don’t recommend them especially if you want to use rstp using an app.

That’s about all for now, still playing with it but happy with purchase.

    • Did you mean Jooan?

      • Yep sorry Jooan, didn't notice that typo thanks.

  • Any discounts on the 4 camera h.265 nvr systems?
