Deserves more attention since the $0 promotion seemingly ended, the old post is over 6 months old so I think this is within posting guidelines.

If the link doesn't work try looking for it under All selling > Promotional Offers.

Noice, cheers. Had been procrastinating on selling a bunch of stuff and prefer to use ebay when i can dodge their ludicrous fees.

All www.ebay.com.au members are eligible to participate in this offer.

    • … I am not eligible for this offer it would seem.

      • Strange. What selling offers do you have?

        • None at the moment.

      • +1

        Nor am I.

They do this every weekend? Still personally would rather wait for the $0. After the paypal fees, postage costs and factoring in liability; it isn't worth the time to list cheap items.

    • +3

You must be talking about very cheap items if paying a $1 FVF instead of $0 is enough to make listing an item not worthwhile.

      • -1

I'm talking about things like $10~ trading cards. Once I factor in post, time, and liability - the $1 (which is 10%) isn't worth it. True, if you're selling expensive things it's not a big deal.

        • Then sell it as an $11 or $12 trading card - if it's something people want an extra dollar or two isn't going to stop them buying.

          • -1

@dm01: 'An extra 10% or 20% wont make a difference!'

            • @pharcyde: You'd best give up then since you're evidently an expert on discretionary spending practices, selling trading cards at the very top end of their pricing window 🙄

              • -1

@dm01: You obviously have no idea what you're taking about. Why would I sell something, or better yet, why would someone buy the more expensive item on the market?

                • -1

@pharcyde: You supposedly sell on eBay, yet can't figure out why someone might pay $11 or $12 for an item from one seller rather than $10 for that same item from another?

See if you can unshackle your thinking long enough to consider varying factors such as item condition, description and photos, location, handling time, seller feedback rating & experience, return policy etc etc, and why a buyer might choose not to buy the item with the lowest dollar value attached to it - it's self evident!

And if even that seems like to much mental-wrangling for you to handle, go search for a few different items on eBay, click the option to show sold items, and see how many you can find that don't show a range of selling prices from different sellers, rather than everything selling for the same price.

  • Consolation prize I suppose…

  • Is the final fee you pay $1 all up not including PayPal's fees?

    • -4

There are three types of fees on eBay:
      1. Insertion Fees. eBay says "List as many items for free. Pay Final Value Fees When you Sell!". Insertion Fees are waived during this promo.
      2. Final Value Fees. eBay says "Pay a maximum of $1 in Final Value Fees for any items you list and make available for purchase in a single category during the Promotion Period". See Selling Fees for more details. In summary, Final Value Fees are about 10% of the payment (including postage if any) so if you sell an item that sold for $10 or $100 including postage, the Final Value Fee is $1. If sell an item for $5 including postage, the Final Value Fee is $0.50.
      3. PayPal Fees, which is about 10% of the payment (including postage if any). PayPal Fees will still apply during this promo.

Incorrect. Generally, PayPal take 2.6% + 30 cents.

  • Tried accepting the offer and it tells me the offer has expired

  • What if your item doesn't sell, do you still pay $1?

    • +1

      No.

  • +1

Is someone able to confirm after I've accepted this offer If I list the item today and set it to sell by lets say Wednesday later in the week I only pay $1 in final value fee ? Or does the item have to sell before midnight tonight ?

    • +3

They just have to be listed today - they can sell any time afterwards until the listing ends/renews.

  • From the fine print:
Store subscribers and business registrants are not eligible to participate in this offer.

  • it says expried
i was able to subscribe every week till last week

    • Still worked for me last weekend, did you try to accept within Saturday and Sunday? It expires and reactivates every week.

      • +2

it worked on me last weekend, just not today
usually, i accept it on friday night, and it will automatically live after 00:00am

        • +1

          @frozenkuku

Same here mate, yup it just expired

  • Expired for me too. I was wondering if I had been using the offer too often, its been great! Been using it for over a year. It does say they can cancel it at any time.

  • Uh oh, looks like the party is over :(

    • Its so annoying :( Just realized what Ive been selling will now cost about $25 in fees that Ive been getting for free all this time! I hope they have some kind of alternative. I wont be listing much at all now.

      • same, one of my account says invitation only so since then i didn't list any things

  • I think its cancelled for everyone to be honest. I logged in in family member accounts and it was also not available to them. When I tried to accept from the mega weekends page that is still up. It said offer cancelled. I really hope its a signal they will bring back something similar, and not gone for good. It was really handy for selling things that may not sell, rather than paying a fee for each item.
