Carpro Ultimate Paint Protection Kit $127.46 + Shipping @ Waxit

WAXITEASTER

Just thought I'd share this, may be a bit of a niche product but worth it. Ceramic coat paint protection, discounted to $149.95 plus 15% off sitewide coupon brings it down to $127.46 + shipping.

Took me about about 4 hours to apply (wash, clay bar, wash again, wait for it to dry, apply etc), 4 months later and its still beads. Beats waxing as it doesn't attract dust and lasts much longer (meant to be a year?). The kit was enough to do 2 ceramic coat applications (I did 2 cars) with heaps of car wash to spare. Only thing you may need additional of it the Reload product which makes the car shiny and smoother. The Reload that came with the kit lasted 4 applications.

  • Timely, got the new car four days ago and considering ceramic coat paint protection… How good does it look? Any prior experience with these products? Was it as easy as it looks in their vid? Thanks in advance

    • Looks great and still does. Just as easy as their video, just time consuming but waxing takes just as much time and messier.

No prior experience with this or any similar products, just got tired of waxing and thought I'd give this a go and been happy with the results.

  • i use wolfgang deep gloss sealant. It was amazing. I lasterd around 4 months before doing a quick over the top recoat. Then the both coats lasted a year. Get a lot more coats out of the DGS though. Havent used ceramic coating though.

  • When does the 15% coupon expire?

Tomorrow according to the email I got.

i use heaps of CarPro stuff but and my favourite of all has to be Hydro2, which is a spray-on sealant for lazy people (i usually get the pre-mixed version.)

    • +1

I use Hydrofoam on my daily, wash and and coat in one.

  • Did you have to machine polish the car beforehand? Any tips? I have seen a few videos online on machine polishing but don't feel very confident as I tend to get a bit heavy handed.

    • +2

not unless the paint needs correction.

you just have to get paint very clean before you apply sealant. cleanliness == better bonding.

      • Unfortunately, there are some scratches on the paint work of my car so I assume machine polishing would be required?

        • Machine polish the car: I'm a novice, never used one before. Purchased a Rockwell Shop Series random orbital multi function car polisher from SCA, was on sale apx $80. Showed SCA my car and purchased recommended polish product. As you said, checked out a few videos too. So far no problems at all, let the machine do the work. Have not purchased replacement pads yet, but seem a little pricey at apx $26 ea. Probably are other options out there. Good Luck.

        • polishing will only take out light scratches. if they're deep enough they catch on your fingernail i.e. it's gone past the clear, into the base or even bare metal, you need to fill that scratch with paint first, then wet sand, then polish.

yeah, it's a bit of work, but what polishing does is to level out that scratch buy scalloping the surrounding paint into it. if it's a deep scratch and your paint is quite old, you'll be polishing until there's hardly any paint left to fill it.

i would say learn the basics of hand polishing first, then get a good random orbital. also pads. invest in a bunch of good pads for cutting, compounding, polishing and, above all, keep them clean.

    • Wife's car had rock chips all over, I just applied it right over since there was no oxidising.

  • Reload? The kit lists the following:

    Cquartz UK 30mL
    CarPro Reset 500mL
    CarPro Eraser 500mL
    Concours PURIFY 500mL
    Concours CLAY 200g
Concours 4 Seasons (Blue and Yellow)
    Concours BREEZE (Blue and Yellow)

There's a bottle of 100ml reload that comes as part of the cquartz UK kit along with a few pieces of application cloths.

      • Ahhh thx

The problem with ceramic coating is that it is hard to take off. Good if your paint and clear coat is perfect, else you would need to have it colour corrected with a machine or else the scratches can't even be polished off. Just watch this:

I personally think for amateurs, stick with traditional wax as it's easier to handle, even though it doesn't last as long and it's safe to reapply. Brand new car or perfect paint, go for it. Just my 5c
