Target - RankArena Full HD LED $399 80CM (31").

20

80cm. (31"). 6.5ms response time. 50Hz processor. Full HD 1080p. Digital TV ready high definition in-built digital tuner. 4x HDMI. Contrast ratio 4000:1. LED technology. Slim design, just 45mm wide. This offer not available at Target Country stores unless stated otherwise. SV-32FHD1LED.

Went and had a look at one of these this morning and the quality of the picture seemed to be very good. The blueray source looked amazing on the TV. Anyway, after checking I have found that the TV has no DVI cable and only does 1024x768 as the max resolution over VGA.

For the price it seems quite good as it's only 4.5CM thick.. and under 400 bucks.

"Anyway, after checking I have found that the TV has no DVI cable and only does 1024x768 as the max resolution over VGA"

easily fixed, just get a DVI/HDMI cable for four bux fidy…(or fourty)

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DVI-Male-Plug-HDMI-Female-Adapter…

i know its extra costs and a pain to order, but still circumvents the problem for DVI…

you can even get it in a cable…(like i have for my monitor) rather than buying an adaptor if you need a cord anyway.

Sure, I know how to hook it up that way. I actually ordered one a few days ago for this very issue. :-) I've heard of TV's displaying HDMI input of PC sources being hard to read and over-scanned etc, though.

Has anyone tried HDMI input with this TV from a PC?

At 1920x1080 resopution you shouldnt have any probelm

        • read a few things about it, cant really remember too well…
          but to get us started:
          * possibly refresh rates arent as good? (eg 1-2ms vs 6-10ms of a tv)?(some TVs are quite high though)
          * I remember reading something about PC blacks (on a scale to 255) monitors get closer to that 255 range where as tvs are more in that middle range of colours they do so they can get a higher refresh
          * and problem with a large TV is that its only 1080P, as your sitting up close to it its probably getting a little low, (which is why many large screen monitors have a higher resolution)

still good enough for most applications(possibly most of us), but i wouldnt want to be a cad or image designer using one.

I think the quality wont be as good.

=> refresh rates and latency are different things. 1-2ms on anything > 32" are not available yet.
it's normal to have them around 6ms these days. Anything under 10ms you won't have a problem

=> you'll have to adjust that yourself since monitors and TVs don't use the same kind of panels

=> only 1080p? what monitor do you use? Most monitors unless you go with an extra high resolution ones you're stuck with 1920x1080, 1920x1200 or less usually. I have not seen anything higher in resolution other than DELL U2711 and Apple Cinema Display & iMac 27".

For CAD and Designing, YOU SHOULD NOT USE TVs for your monitor.
You should buy a MONITOR MONITOR.

But yeah for anyone who wants a massive 32" Monitor for watching movies or games
This is a fine product for the fine price.

        • Thanks for clarifying… yeah "only" is itelic, good for 24" and a decent resolution, but starting to get low on large screens/big tv's…

Heck id be happy with it.

i think your agreeing with most of what i said….:S
