Seem to be all sold out. Product reviews say these are noisy.

    • I've found the indoor units quiet when new but get noisier as they age. However the outdoor units vibrate quite loudly which can be very noticeable inside the house. I'd suggest not wall mounting an outdoor unit directly onto a bedroom wall if you're a light sleeper.

      • +1

if they were serviced and had the bearings greased they would probably be quieter.

  • I was looking at these last night - it seems the whole air conditioner category has been removed

  • there now

    • Its there but Quantity Available is 0 - can't buy it.

  • +4

Have 2 of these at home and 3 more in different houses.. can't complain about the noise as they are fairly quiet..

Op should mention NSW only as deal is not available Qld..

  • +1

I have these for the kids rooms and they are quiet. Price is pretty good

    • The kids are quiet?

      • +1

A noisy air con would block out noisy kids. Seems like a win win to me

  • Sorry for asking these noob questions, but how can I proceed with installation after purchasing an aircon from an eBay sale? Do I contact a licensed installer myself or I can get one from Bing Lee? And also, our strata will need to approve the installation plan before everything can be arranged, how can I get the plan (I suppose I will need to have the installer to visit and draw the plan first?) Thanks a heap guys.

    • -2

      Electrican can install.

Strata don’t really need a plan.. just licenced electrician + depending on your strata might need to give electricity certificate after your done.

P.s I’m presuming the outdoor unit is gonna be on the balcony ? Not in the common area etc

      • Thanks for your reply! I guess I will have to enquiry our strata again about it.

Outdoor unit will be on the balcony for sure, there is a pipe or something prepared for the aircon installation already.

        • +2

Strata just needs location of indoor and outdoor unit which you can easily demonstrate by taking pics from your mobile.

In my case they also asked for outdoor unit noise level which is easy to find on model specifications.

          • +2

@Sshanaz: I used to be on a strata committee…. you need to notify them and get approval, otherwise it might cause you trouble down the line if someone complains and finds out you installed something without approval. But that's fairly rare unless you have really crappy neighbours or super tight committee

            • @blueonion: Am I the only one who doesn’t have a clue what a strata is? Assume it’s got something to do with renting?

Googled it. So it’s like owning an apartment but everything else like the driveway/carpark/elevator are controlled by a committee? (Ignorant rural home owner)

              • @SlappersOnly: Any residential property that is not a standalone house would be considered a strata property (i.e aptmt, villa, t’house). You own the space within the interior walls, anything beyond is what’s known as ‘common areas’ which is managed by a strata manager elected by the executive committee, formed by a cohort owners nominated by owners.

TLDR: anything you want changed/repaired/installed/done in the common area needs approval.

    • +1

You must obtain permission from Strata. Some owners may object to installation due to the noise. The unit must be installed by a licensed electrician and you need to get a certificate from him. Condensation tube will need to be connected to the downpipe or fitted in such a way that it doesn't cause damage to the building.

      • Thanks for your detailed reply, this is the exact information I was looking for!

    • +1

You must use a licenced installer (not just an electrician) and the very cheapest installations for these type of units start at about $500.

Strata just wants to know you won't put the outside unit (compressor) somewhere that makes the building look awful/ridiculous (or is too loud for other residents, etc). Have an AC guy come and quote.

  • 0 available again now

    • +1

      still seems available to me?

      • +1

Your right. Its blocking me from adding it to my cart because it wont post to QLD. It Was simply showing me 0 available

Had to sign out and add it to my cart as a guest (click and collect at a NSW store) to get it to work.

        Thanks

EDIT: As soon as I put any address in it wipes the instore pickup and tells me it cant post to that address
EDIT 2: Put in some random address in Sydney and it allowed me to collect it from my store in Regional NSW. Weird issue

  • Hi

How this model is stake against fujitsu astg09kmca?
    Thanks

  • No delivery to Brisbane?

  • +2

Mmmmm looks like no postage to WA. Is this normal for Bing Lee?

    • Certainly is. Happens to their coffee machines sometimes too.

  • +2

    No delivery to VIC

  • -1

Good to put into your investment properties - always sales on these after summer.

    • +1

Jeez, how many investment properties you got?

    • -1

And a tax invoice for $699 might be quite handy!

      • -1

        Invoice will have $559

        • All eBay invoices I have are before discount. I doubt that this will be any different. Can anyone confirm?

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: Can’t 100% confirm but have been confused and caught out by that multiple times when buying discounted ebay stuff. I’d get a confirmation email that states the full price then have to double check the transaction to see they only charged me the discount price.

  • -1

Anyone manage to price match with good guys or Harvey ?

  • Thanks OP picked one up.

  • What the hell is Bing Lee waiting for to open a store in Vic?

    • +4

For those who don't realise Victoria exists past outer Melbourne, you will find there is a store in Victoria.

  • Thanks OP, got 2.

  • Thanks bought 2 unit of 2.5kw and a 5kw unit. Am i able to claim cashback on all 3 units?

    • Yes, I claimed for 2 units I bought few years back. It’s goes by the serials number on the unit.

    • No, you can only claim once per eligible product, so basically one of each as per their terms and conditions. I bought 3 under different names.

      • "Only one (1) claim per Eligible Product purchased is permitted, and only one (1) entry into the draw is permitted per claim."

"14. Multiple claims and entries permitted, subject to the following: (a) only one (1) claim permitted per Eligible Product purchased during the Promotional Purchase Period; (b) each claim must be submitted separately and in accordance with claim requirements; and (c) only one (1) entry into the draw permitted per eligible product claimed."

I read that as one item can't be claimed twice…..doesn't say one claim per person per product…basically that one can't lodge multiple claims for the same purchased product ….

      • +2

I bought two ASTG09KMCA units last year and claimed cashback for both units succesfully.

The purchase was under my name in one invoice (e.g. submitted twice using same invoice and payment detail but different serial numbers).

        • Thank you, this is the answer i was hoping for.

      • +1

Not true, you can buy multiple under the same name. As stated by others they base it off the serial numbers. Last time they had this promo (roughly 6 months ago) I was able to claim 3 under my name and all they did was put all 3 cash backs on 1 card

  • +2

Great price. We have these and they are quiet as long as you don't mount the outdoor unit on the wall of a timber building. It makes the whole wall vibrate. The one we have mounted on a concrete slab is really quiet.

    • +1

Good advice. I've found with common lower hinged wall brackets that you can improve things by running a strip(s) of foam/rubber up the two vertical mounts (slices of camping mats work fine)in place of the two hard plastic "feet".

Also if doing a slab, allow a small space between the brickwork and slab to a) possibly help with vibration but also b) to ensure you're not introducing a route for dampness….

Also (2), some A/C units respond well to having their own feet better isolated from the slab/bracket with additional foam/rubber mounts or strips etc.

  • +3

Very poor that they don’t deliver to/in most States. Clearly the purchaser would be paying the freight, so there shouldn’t be an issue. Harvey Norman are still selling this unit for $999…

  • Is there anything else needed for an install besides a wall bracket? Any suggestions for good brackets?

    • +1

Don't get the cheap one from Bunnings, they rust on 3 months.

      • where else do you get the bracket?

        • Ask the installer, they may provide one.

          • @frazel: won't the installer automatically install these with a bracket if mounted to a wall?

I don't quite understand why someone would ask for a bracket
unless they are installing this themselves

            • @pinkybrain: I got my mate who is a sparky to install mine. He use to install them years ago but he know does solar. So he had the skill, just not the bracket. So I purchased the bracket for him.

              • @frazel: can you ask your sparky mate in terms of installing it, does it need to be checked for the gas leakage
and how does he check it after connecting all the pipes?

Does he use any special tools to check etc?

                • @pinkybrain: Yeah, absolutely. Installers should do a pressure test to check for leakages. But what I've been told, most people only do pressure checks when it's not a back to back installation. When it's a back to back, installers just use the bubble test because it's quicker and less joins.

Larger aircon units need a dedicated line back to to the power box, but units like this can be plugged in to the main loop that your lights are on.

I wouldn't suggest installing one unless you know what your doing.

                  • @frazel: What would the bubbles do if it was not under pressure?
All installations should be pressure tested and evacuated to the industry standard. Just opening the valves and letting gas through is a good way to cause problems in operation.

                    • @Mike88: @Mike88
The bubble test is done after releasing the gas.

                      • @frazel: You should definitely not use any installer using this practise.

    • +1

      are you installing this yourself?

  • +1

Delivery not available to Adelaide Metro, Brisbane Metro, Melbourne Metro, Northern Territory, NSW Regional, Perth Metro, QLD Far North, QLD Regional, QLD South East, SA Regional, Tasmania, VIC Regional, WA Regional, WA Remote, PO Box

    WOW…almost the whole Australia

  • I have two of these, the fan noise is ok, but you can hear the gas bubbles when it starts up and stops. So the auto (temp) mode is pretty useless because it's pretty noisy when it kicks in and out.

Usually install cost is $400 to $650 for back to back for single story dwelling.

Also technically you need a fridgey with electric ticket to install so you get the warranty certificate. But most installers are just sparkys.

  • I have one outside my bedroom and my windows are from the 60s (seriously drafty) and I've never noticed a peep.

  • should the OP put "NSW" only in title as per guidelines? looks like I can't purchase it for delivery to VIC, can I?

    • -1

      Hi kungfupanda,

      No,you can't.

All TVs, Air Conditioners,Refrigerators,Freezers,Washers deals from Bing Lee eBay store must have ''NSW''only and even in some case ''Sydney Metro ''only in titles.
