Decent sounding & quality powered bookshelf speaker’s at an acceptable price.

Cheapest I could find, even with delivery to Sydney included
Sorry if you live far away and Delivery cost kills the deal.
Optional $35 Delivery cost to Sydney with Transit-cover.

RRP $649 on Edifier AU official website.

Worth the extra cost over the S1000db IMO.
S2000Pro has the 4 EQ modes which allow for a lot more control over the sound than the S1000db with just the Bass & Treble controls on the back.
(e.g. You can set the EQ mode to one of the 4 options, then you can fine tune with the Bass & Treble controls)

Notes:

  • Planar diaphragm tweeter, Aluminium cone woofer.
  • Four EQ Modes: Vocal, Monitor, Classic, and Dynamic.
  • Bass & Treble control knobs on the rear to fine-tune the sound.
  • DSP-based cross-over.
  • Included wireless remote for audio input, volume adjustment and mode switching.
  • Front status-indicator light tells you which source you are listening to.
  • Inputs supported: coaxial, optical, RCA, AUX, and Bluetooth.
  • Look good with the speaker grills on (to protect from kids / pets).

Also worth noting that these speakers have a slightly up-ward facing angle.
(Suitable near-field listening at a desk, or placed on a low cabinet when further away)

  • if you don't need bluetooth , worth to consider jbl lsr305 at same price from ebay

    • +1

The LSR305’s being studio monitors, you will need to factor in ease of use & the cost of a pre-amp to control the volume (the gain dials on the back are ideally meant to be set at 0dB).
Also if the LSR305’s are lacking auto-on/off then you will need to reach around to turn each monitor on & off every time you listen (S2000Pro can be put to sleep and turned on with remote).

I think most consumers are interested in having more input options & control over their speaker to achieve a satisfactory sound-signature, and this is partly how Edifier’s have become so popular as they all have the Bass & Treble adjustment controls.

  • How does this compare to audioengine a5's?

    • +1

The S2000Pro’s have more control over the sound-signature with the 4 EQ modes + Bass & Treble controls,
and has Optical / Coaxial digital inputs (useful for connecting to a TV).
Audio Engine A5+’s have a subwoofer output which can increase your options for subwoofer purchases, and uses Class A/B amplifiers so may sound a bit warmer while running a bit hotter.
Frequency response is similar (A5’s extend slightly higher @ 22khz).
Woofer size is close 5.5” (Edifier) vs 5” (A5+).
Both achieve equal loudness according to specs.

      Came across this comparison.
Read the first comment for a summary of the two.

  • That's indeed a great deal OP. I bought the S1000db off eBay for $375 last year and have been pretty satisfied with their performance so far. Had I not purchased those, I would jump for this deal right away. They can gracefully fill a medium-sized room or even a home theater with crisp, clear-cut frequencies. It takes a great deal of volume to distort the sound on these speakers, and that only on certain audio content. Their ease of connectivity and eliminating the need for extra cables between a pre-amp and speakers, makes them ideal for enthusiasts seeking a minimalist, stylish, yet functional audio setup.

    • Yes Edifier saw a spot in the market (affordable powered bookshelf-speakers, for music / movies / gaming or ‘lifestyle’) and has fit itself in quite nicely.

  • I'll wait for the S3000 pro that was recently launched.

    • S3000Pro is currently double the price of S2000Pro, depending on how you see it, it can be a significant upgrade although price could be a little closer IMO.
(Other than the wireless speaker connection, conventional cabinet design without built-in angle, and 6.5-inch woofer & broader frequency-response, it is the same as the S2000Pro. Yes the S2000Pro has the 4 EQ modes in the DSP as well.)

S2000Pro and S1000Pro are closer in price (by about ~$100 give or take), I would recommend the S2000Pro out of the two.

      • Really, double. Then its not worth getting the S3000 then. Probably need to wait for couple of years till it drops in price.

        • Yes currently in the US; S2000Pro is $399 RRP, S3000Pro is $799 RRP.
Prices from official Edifier website. They may both come down in price but I think the distance in price between them will stay quite similar.

  • Computer desktop speaker died on me today (klipsch promedia). Do you think this Edifier S2000 pro is better than the Audioengine A5+ ?

    • As I have said in this comment, they are quite different approaches to a similar product.
A5+ uses class A/B amplification (which usually results in a warmer tone sound signature & better quality sound at low volume), also A5+ has subwoofer output. Sound signature on A5+ is limited to what your source has to offer (lacks adjustments).

S2000Pro uses class D amps, but has more ability to customise sound signature with 4 DSP modes & tone control knobs (treble/bass dials). Adding a subwoofer is slightly more tricky on the S2000Pro (your source will have to have an extra set of outputs for the sub, or you will need to find a sub with a ‘pass-through’ feature to allow the sub to connect between the source and the S2000Pro).
Also worth mentioning is that the S2000Pro have built-in slight upward facing angle (ideal for desk use, tricker with placement if listening from a distance), while A5+ has the conventional 90 degree facing straight on cabinet design.

I would personally put the S2000Pro ahead due to its controls over the sound signature.
You may discover you may need more / less bass or treble.
Many things can affect the sound of speakers and having that option to adjust and find your own sound signature can be quite useful.
