  • It's really frustrating that it's pretty much impossible to get a 1920x1200 resolution laptop any more (without shelling out ridiculous money for Alienware/etc or "CAD" models). This would be a great upgrade otherwise.

    • What about the Dell XPS 15 with the 1080p screen upgrade?

Dam its first gen i7 :(

18.4inch?? Why the heck would anyone want a laptop that size?

    • I've seen teachers, eg, travelling/relieving teachers in the Outback,
carrying such huge lappies, instead of lots of bits that a desktop
      would be.

Small groups can see the screen, & (more likely) the guy can see
multiple documents on same screen in a temporary accommodation or
enjoy a movie after hours, etc.

OK price but last gen CPU. Plus too heavy.

  • ambitious pricing for a 1st gen DTR refurb

  • Given its refurbished by the manufacturer and comes with manufacturer warranty I dont think it is too bad a price - however why was it refurbished?

My understanding is these babies have a big problem with overheating…

    • Good question, I do know that toshiba are the ones who refurb them and not a 3rd party so one would imagine they bring them back to new condition. Similar program to that of say apple?

  • Toshiba make some of the worst laptops, only company that cripples thier laptops by not soldiering pinouts on thier lower end models just so you cant upgrade, 3G, RAID, etc, bad driver support, limited bios updates and the specs on this suck too and its a referb too, big egos, poor quality

  • ASUS i7's (for gamers?0 are available on eBay for under $1400 shipped, in AU.

Most 17.x in screens; some with 1 TB HD; almost all w/ 8 GB RAM
(a few with only 6 GB, cost less)

Lotsa options… they're starting to dump older version i7's…

    Don't pay too much.

PLUS: Soon, we'll be seeing "end-of-financial-year" sales… be patient!
