  • Merged from Aldi 50" 4K Ultra HD TV. Is it worth considering?

Would you consider getting the Aldi 50" 4K Ultra HD TV ?

Is the frame rate of 60Hz a cause for concern?

  • -6

4K and only 60Hz? You’re definitely going to notice that.

What does resolution have to do with refresh rate?

      • -1

My point was more to the fact that even with an Aldi tv in this day and age you think they’d be heading more for 120Hz minimum. With online gaming and sport you’d have some difficulties. Saying that, you get what you pay for I guess.

If you watching movies you wont

  • Why does Aldi keep selling tvs without smart tv capability? Surely in this day and age, that's a basic expectation by now?

On budget TVs you'd much prefer a dumb tv. Saves you like $50-100 and prevents the bundled frustration that accompanies the budget smart interface. The extra dollars saved can instead go towards a capable smart box like a vodatv or similar

        Nailed the explanation..concise and informative..

    • I have a fetch box. Would I need a smart TV ?

    • I would like to pay less and control the box that I use to show things on TV, instead of counting on the TV to issue firmware updates. The TV have limited apps etc. Give me a TV that is not smart please….

  • I have the $449 Bauhn 55" TV and am definitely happy with it. I use it for 4K youtube and Netflix

    • What's the sound like on Aldi large screen TVs nowadays?

      • Average. I use a sound bar anyway but from memory it wasn't great.

How about giving us something like this - https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/04/23/xiaomi-mi-mural-tv-65-…?

    • +3

I'd love ALDI Australia to partner with Xiaomi to bring their products into the spotlight for everyday Aussie consumers

      • It would probably increase Xiaomi sales in Australia multifold if they partner up

  • 4k is fluff on panel TV… More evidence.

I'd rather spend a maximum of $200 extra & get the Hisense P6.

  • So the frame rate of 60hz is ok for watching movies but not ok for playing console games. Is my understanding correct?

    • -1

Correct. Terrible for movement in sports also.

      • Provided the input/console can produce higher than 60fps.

    • No console at the moment outputs more than 60fps so it doesn't matter for console games.
      For PC yes
