Came across this whilst trying my luck to find a deal on T480.

Per title combined with PCLICK code https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/452623

Might not be the best deal on OzB, but definitely not bad for the spec. $100 less than the previous deal that came with an i7 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/439999

    • Seems like you pay more and sacrifice quite a lot for it to be 2mm thinner with the E490s

  • +4
  • Are these good for work ? I primarily work on selenium to automate testing.

    • They still have not all that bright 250nit displays, which is a shame.

  • Any difference between the larger 15.6 version and 14 inch?

I know this has the Radeon RX 550X which will be a waste for us.

Also how good is the E series?

    • +1

for some people and inch and half can make a HUGE difference

      • haha

Any difference other than size and the Radeon?

    • dupe - sorry

  • Looking for an E490 without the separate graphics card. Something like this expired deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/442143 Is anything available at that price range? Thanks

    • If you are not urgent, just need patience, because it would be cheaper and cheaper. I recommend it. It's my first laptop that I don't need to carry the charger and mouse. The built quality is much better than my previous Dell Insprion 15 5000 serie.

  • How much better is the T series then the E series can anyone share from personal use?

    • +1

      Alot… T480 vs E490
      - bigger external battery in additional to the small internal battery
      - better built, solid, tested to some "military" spec… i guess the best part is drainage holes on the keyboard and a metal chassis
      - more useful ports

However, E490 is not bad. we've had two old E430 (maybe E440)… one is still working to-date after 5 years, and one no longer powers on in its 4th year… (didnt investigate on cause).

  • Thanks OP. Its been more than 10 years since I bought my own laptop. Cheers

  • What do you guys think about the processor and Radeon GPU? Is the AMD GPU good? I've heard about thermal issues with the 8th gen cpu
