$4 Hot Breakfast @ IKEA (Free Family Membership Required - Available before 11am)

1532

Was pleasantly surprised walking to IKEA this morning to grab some breakfast. I was able to buy a hot breakfast consisting of 3 small sausages, hash brown, scrambled eggs, tomato and bacon for $4 with a family membership. ($5.50 without the family membership)

There is also a vegetarian option for $3.50 (usually $5).

I also added a cinnamon bun and unlimited coffee for $3 extra but it’s optional. You can only get it between 9:30 and 11am.

If you’re not a IKEA family member, you can get a $10 voucher by joining. Deal link.

This is just the normal deal, not a bargain. Ikea have always had $4 breakfasts its their standard loss leader. Only recently they have made it family only, so by rights this is less of a "bargain" than it used to be.

EDIT: I'm just trying to help you neggers, I guess you all enjoy that spam with your breakfast.

    • +12

I don't understand the negative votes. This ikea breakfast was $2.95 when it first started and had always been until last few years became $3.95 now $4.

So is a standard deal, and won't go any lower.

Guess there will be even more people from Ozb going there for breakkie from Friday onwards lol.

Yeah its weird, I guess people are pissed off that they've missed out on this well known life hack for so long, and its global too not just Australia. A classic shoot the messenger scenario. Bring it.

And yeah I had forgotten about it being $2.95. The quality and serving size (especially of the bacon) is vastly improved since they went to $4 so I am happy to pay the extra $1.05. Gah I also remember when they went to the thimble sized coffee cups, glad that was only for a year before they realised how it wore out their machines with people having to refill after every 2nd sip. I bet heads rolled over that genius idea.

        • Don't understand the negs either.

I recall you could get free tea or coffee with your breakfast with family membership too, otherwise it was $ for juice/other beverages. Looks like they needed to fund the machines somehow.

        • I believe the coffee/tea is also cheaper. It's $2.50 now. I remember it being $3 - $3.50 earlier.

Now, that $3.50 vegetarian option is so good. They put their (really good) potato/vege patty and their baked beans are really good now.

I agree, they really improved their game. Even the Fish and Chips lunch version is good now - crispy & succulent (used to be soggy batter and dry inside).

Shut up and take my money.

      I don't care, I love it!

Free $10 voucher to be used within thirty days of joining Ikea family

    • Can you use it on the food?

      • +1

My parents have used it on their frozen food products so wouldn't see why it would be any different ?

      • +2

yes you can use it for food

If you buy $4 meal add 4 cinamon roll to make it $10

  • +6

Isn’t this the normal price ? At least it’s been this price for at least 6 months. Am I missing something here ?

    • +4

I wasn’t aware of this so it’s a deal to me.

    • +1

Yes, had that deal the other week. Hasn't changed

    • +8

Doesn’t have to be a newly available offer to be posted on OzB. Sometimes members will find a deal and it may already be half way through its duration.

      • +1

        half way through

lol its been this price for over 6 years.

        • +5

As per the site deal posting guidelines a deal can be posted every 6 months if it remains active.

          • +7

@swimmingtoad: How is this a deal if this has been their normal price for 6+ years? Sounds like anything can be deal on this site these days

            • +3

              @Pinchy: I don't make the rules..

              • +1

@swimmingtoad: The point being, its debatable if this can be classified as a "deal" if its been their standard/normal pricing for such a long time.

                • +2

@ultramic: Oh I fully understand the point.
However there are plenty of high voted deals which are ongoing on OzBargain.
What is the definition of a bargain or deal? I would argue it has nothing to do with the length of availability but more so it's value to comparable goods.

                  • -1

@swimmingtoad: This site is very clear about what constitutes a deal. If you have a better definition you can start your own site or convince OzBargain to modify the current definition. In summary, it is a deal iff:

                    1. It must be the cheapest price available.
                    2. It must not be already listed on OzBargain (<6 months)
                    3. There must be sufficient quantity available.

@twocsies: I think you may have misread this conversation. You are arguing my own point with me.

    • +1

Wasn't aware of this deal before, thanks OP for posting!

    • +1

It’s been around this price for years.

      • Wow, downvoted for stating a fact 😳

  • Deal for me.
Not opened until 1pm tomorrow unfortunately, for those keen on shopping through ANZAC day.

Plus you get the free exercise to burn off the meal by having to park your car, navigate the maze in and outside of the canteen.

    • +3

Funny you should mention that. In recent times, the Richmond IKEA has been opened up and it’s easier than ever to go straight to the store section you want, instead of navigating the maze.

    • +1

If you’re just there for the breakfast it’s straight up the stairs and to the right in Richmond.

    • Went to Springvale IKEA on the weekend - first time I have been in an IKEA for years and was also surprised to find that there are lots of shortcuts now so you can pretty much get anywhere

      • Yep, love the shortcut to the start of the downstairs maze, just discovered that recently underneath the escalator up to the start of the top one. I Feel like I've discovered all the possible shortcuts now in that place.

  • Can you use the voucher for food?

    • +2

      Yes.

  • +6

Yeah but its a deconstructed breakfast that you have to put together yourself

    • +14

      … with an Allen key.

    • +2

I normally bring a pig from the farm to IKEA so that they can assemble my bacon

  • I haven’t been to Ikea in years , Do they still do the free coffee for family members?

    • +1

      No

    • It's 2.50 unlimited refills now

  • +1

You get what you pay for is all I can say

  • +2

Love it. 2 for me, 1 for wife and 1 for the son. 12 bucks and you can the young dude who always forgets to puts drinks through can't beat that.

    • +3

      Quick mafs.

      • Haha i even dreamt I put 12. Sorry guys. 15 bucks as kids is 3 bucks from memory.

  • +6

Thanks for taking the time to post this OP. I didn't know about it. Some people here say they're already aware of this, but I'm glad you still posted this! :)

  • +1

Damn you OP, this is my regular Saturday morning breakfast, I bet it'll be busy for a while now!

  • -4

why is the normal price considered a deal?

    • +1

It’s still a bargain. Can’t get much food-wise for $4 these days, let alone a full (albeit small) breakfast.

    • Agreed. This is the RRP.

  • The real IKEA deal for me are the $1 hot dogs. I can't go to an Ikea suburb without getitng a couple.

    • +1

      may contain traces of meat

      • and a bunch of trans fat! mmmmmmm.

still, does the job of quashing post-maze-navigation hunger i suppose.

  • Can anyone comment on the quality of the hot breakfast food at IKEA nowadays? I checked out the Canberra one a few years ago, and the eggs were prison quality powdered garbage and the bacon soggy and disgusting.

Honestly felt like a rip off at $3, it was so bad.

    • think about it.

      $4 for a meal?

when you pay that much for a meal, quality isn't part of the deal.

      p

Had it yesterday for the first time. Thanks OP. It was excellent. 2 rashers of bacon, 2 sausages, good scrambled eggs, hah brown. The tomato wasn't grilled enough for me, but that's being picky. We had it at 10.58am and it was enough for lunch.
Incidentally, if you like coffee with cream, the cream dish from the desserts is not thickened or sweetened and is lovely in coffee. I do a double espresso with half the cream dish. Heavenly.
