110

The Champagne Mile and Flight Hacks have partnered with Amex to bring you a special offer for the American Express Explorer Card.

Receive 100,000 bonus Membership Rewards points when you apply through our exclusive link by 18th June 2019, are approved and spend $1,500 in 3 months (eligibility criteria and other T&Cs apply).

Key card benefits include:
• $400 American Express Travel credit every year (offsetting the $395 annual fee).
• Two Amex lounge invites each year, providing access to the Sydney or Melbourne Airport American Express Lounge
• Smartphone Screen and travel insurances (PDS accessible via our link)
• Flexibility to transfer out to 8 airline partner programs (transfer rate of 2:1)

Note: American Express points redemption rates for the Amex Membership Rewards Gateway program increased on 15 April 2019. Following the increase, points now transfer out of the program at a rate of 2:1 into leading airline programs including Velocity Frequent Flyer, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer and Asia Miles. As such, this bonus points offer is worth the equivalent of 50,000 frequent flyer points or miles in these schemes.

Important information:
• Minimum income requirement: $65,000 p.a
• Annual fee: $395
• New Card Members only - you must not have held a credit card issued directly by American Express Australia in the last 18 months. Previous and existing cardholders of bank-issued Amex cards and corporate cards are eligible.
• Offer expiry: 18 June 2019

This offer is available through a select number of Amex partners. It is not accessible via the main AMEX website (currently offering 50k bonus points) or via the AMEX Refer a Friend Program (currently offering a 60k bonus) – you must apply through the exclusive offer link.

By clicking through to the deal, you’ll be taken directly to a landing page at either The Champagne Mile or Flight Hacks with more information about the card (we’ve applied randomisation in order to distribute traffic equitably across both sites – you’ll have a 50/50 chance of hitting either site. It's kind of like our own version of the AMEX referral wiki!). You can then directly access the exclusive application link from the landing page.

Disclaimer: The Champagne Mile and Flight Hacks may receive a commission when you apply for the card using one of our links.

Not as good as it used to be. Used to work out to 75,000 frequent flyer points (VA, CX, SQ, etc), but now only works out to be 50,000.

I think amex does have to up their game since the recent devaluation.

      Yes, m waiting for it!

    • +1

Yeah not as good value as it once were.

  • +2

AMEX recently watered down its points value.. so not that attractive

  • +2

Amex needs to up to 150k or 200k MR bonus points

  • +4

There is no value left in Amex warehoused reward points type cards. Velocity Platinum or Qantas Ultimate (current 100k offer) are the way to go - full value points from offer and 1.25 points per $ spent

  • +4

As all other commenters note, a reduction in value. I’d hold off until Amex are forced to offer a larger bonus to remain competitive.

  • Would be better if the annual fee was reduced or waived!

    • +1

They need to give first year annual fee or up the bonus points to above 150k at least.

      • Agreed!
