Few friends were after pressure cookers. They the mistral SELECT pressure cooker is only $59.99 at Woolworths while the average price of this kind of product on the is a way above $100.

The quality of this product looks very decent. I think it a good bargain.

Nice. Aldi have an electric one, this week, too. 3-in-1.

Bought one myself the other night, great value for money! Retired my old stovetop pressure cooker. :)

The advantage this one had was that it's 1200w whereas the Aldi is 1000w (insert Tim the Toolman grunt); and I think at 6 litres this is bigger, IIRC the Aldi one is only 5 (but I could be wrong on that)!

    • Does the Woolies one have a ceramic pot (Aldi's is ceramic) or is it non-stick/ teflon/ stainless steel?

      • no, it's non sticky pot

      • Mine is teflon-ish coated steel. I'm not sure if I'd like a ceramic one, I would think that'd make it slower to cook?

What do you Stew in it ??? :P

        • sorry. I'm not sure I was using the term correctly. just wondering what's difference between non-stick and Teflon ?

Teflon is a 'brand' of non-stick… (Trademarked)

Teflon is nasty stuff, if it scrapes off into the food. Convenient, but yukky. The EPA has given companies 4 years to get rid of it.
If you can find one with a ceramic pot, that's heaps better. Ceramic is a clean surface, safe to cook in. Heats up quickly, too.

  • Saw these while shopping for one. Settled on buying the stove-top Russell Hobbs version on special at Harris Scarfs. This model looked really cheap and nasty like it is going to fall apart. For $60 I guess it's not a huge issue though.

  • Oh dear goodness, I would never use a mistral product nowadays. Unless it was very desperate and it was something that doesn't use much power input (i.e a fan). They have been bought over and now only make generic/rebadged items from china. Like the mistral slow cooker that melted its own legs. =S

    • Did you personally have some trouble with Mistral, or just hearsay? I guess the one at Aldi will also be cheap made in China. For $60 I don't know what you expect?

      • Yeah, I can't remember the last time I looked at the label of a consumer kitchen appliance & saw anything but 'Made in China'! I don't seem to have any problems with any of my stuff of said oeuvre! ;)

  • Does anyone know which stores actually have these? I've been to 5 stores in Vic and they didn't have them?

    • Woolies must have sold out quickly. Aldi's starts on Thursday, 26th.

  • yeah - didn't see any at a couple of stores in Sydney either.. and staff haven't seen them either..
