This looks like a good deal but keep in mind Optus also has a deal with $40/mth for 80Gb (total $480/ 12 mths)

So the $150 gift card is really $30

And with that deal you can also get $50 worth of flybuys points too thanks to an email promo… so this is actually a worse deal overall.

Gotta keep in mind though that the other deal has no roaming data while this deal offers 4gb. Might be more worth it for frequent short term travelers to pick this deal.

    • If you're a flybuys member, you will receive emails with 20,000 Points ($100) and a google home as well like the post here!

To add …. New service only - OR - if upgrading from prepaid to post paid.

    • what about if my contract has finished and I re-contract over to this?

      • I'm on chat now trying to see if they'll help me out - even if it means giving up the eBay voucher.

        • Let us know how you go. Otherwise my plan is to port out/switch to Optus prepaid, then do the upgrade.

Edit: Should've read the whole thread first, saw your comment below!

  • Prices have gone up :(

    • … and the prices are now back down. Lol

      • And now they're up again. God they're idiots..

I was speaking to them on chat, I'm currently on the $40 plan with 40GB or something like that. They offered me $5 discount per month for the next 24 months after I said I want the mobile streaming & spotify free streaming added on because they offered it on previous deals. They added on that for free as well as the $5 per month discount.

Later I said I might go up to the ebay $50 per month plan, they said but I wont get the voucher and I caused a bit of drama over that. It is $150 with eBay after all! I would be paying more per month to them and they were trying to charge me $140 to cancel my current plan and to move up..

They then offered me $10 off per month to go up to the $50 per month plan after I asked them to check with their manager. Would still have to pay the $140 to cancel so I didn't bother. I'll try again with them closer to the end date of my plan. Hopefully will be able to get the $10 discount then and pay a smaller cancelation fee.

This is still a good sim only deal compared to new Optus sim plans

  • Is a re-contracting considered New Service?
My contract ended last week with Optus and i'd jump on this for the voucher and that the plan includes the roaming etc at $50 which changed to $79 now on the direct SIM only.

    • Re-contracting just means signing up to a new contract in a legal sense but it does not necessarily mean you are getting a new service. you might have to port out your exist. number to a different telco and then port back in.

Or you get a new number from Optus.

  • Good news, with the guidance of live chat I was able to place an order myself for the $50 plan. I'm re-contracting as I just finished my last 12-month plan, and consultant confirmed everything else on my account will remain the same plus I will receive the eBay voucher.

I did save the chat transcript just in case there are any issues, but for those who are in the same boat - it could be a good option given the current plans are not good value in comparison.

    • I am in the same boat but they are not offering eBay Voucher. Are you able to share your chat transcript? Thanks.

  • Having two numbers on one account already with Optus and out of contract has been crazy hard to clarify on this deal and to make it even happen has been extremely difficult
    Live chat says call number
Call phone says they can’t help have to do it online
Instore says call phone number too

It’s two services and shouldn’t be harder.. they’re getting more business..

Well I’ve just placed two orders online for both the phone numbers

The roaming is the best bit of this deal, we’re back and forth to nz and Singapore so the monthly 4gb is a huge help. Never have to worry about phone issues and swapping sims

    • Phone call 15mins later saying I’m not eligible even out of contract
      Guess I’m porting out now

  • For anyone who got this deal, how long did it take you to receive the eBay Voucher?

    • I'm still waiting for mine. Its been more than 14 days so i live chatted them but they said its apparently 14 business days (i.e. tomorrow…)

      • If it's going by "business days" it's only been 4 days so far for me…

      • Did you happen to receive yours today yet?

      • Still waiting, I’ll be asking Optus again today what’s going on…

Offer still active and seamless to sign up. Much better than any of their plans on their website, particularly if you're roaming overseas.

  • Bit too late to pull the trigger, 24 months plans are on and with no longer provide roaming data. hope they bring back 12 month plan with 4gb roaming.

    • Damn.. Lucky I managed to sign up last week!
