Better than the Pioneer VSX-520 which does HD Audio? Doubtful.
The price isn't that great seeing it is a runout model, and can be bought locally (possibly with a bit of bargaining) for about $50 more.

    • Also the Pioneer VSX-520 uses discrete amp design, were this Yamaha uses lower quality chip amps.

You should be able to pick this up for about $350 locally with full 2 year Yamaha warranty, no warranty if you import, not a great deal for a small saving.

I owned the VSX-520 and the RX-V367. The Pioneer has much better audio. Also, i bought the Yamaha for $334 in January this year from JB so the price isn't great considering you won't have a warranty.

  • Not a good price, have seen better in Australia. Doesn't support Master Audio or DTS-HD. Also by now quite an old model.

Who would bother with a new amp which doesn't do the high def formats? Neg from me.

    • I don't get it. Doesn't it say 1080p?

      • It doesn't decode Hi def Audio like DTS HD

  • Don't settle for that price. I paid $325 in November next year. Should be able to get it under $300 now.

run out model, can't decode HD. Neg

    • Agreed, if they are gonna run off old stock like this, they need a much better price.

Gotta say I'm loving my Pioneer VSX-520 at $348 delivered from Videopro! :D

I'll pass on this Yammy, thanks! ;)

  • Would have thought the 467 or 767 would have made better deals.

The shipping price would be the same, but they are better amps and the aussie prices are proportionately more ridiculous.

  • if youre looking for something under $400, dont buy an amp until you test drive an Onkyo TX-SR308.

or if you can stretch just a little more get the TX-SR578.

the above amps placed 2nd and 1st respectively in a recent Choice test, and should be put on short lists to listen to before handing over cash for an amp.

  • Anyone got good experience with Audio Affair?

  • If anybody is seriously after one of these Harvey Norman appears to be doing them for $288 in their mid-year clearout sale…I just got the cattledog! ;)

    • Online catalog?

      • No, a paper one…I tried to find it online but can't see it on the HN website anywhere! They've actually got quite a few other bargains as well, I was gonna post it but I'm too lazy to scan it manually! ;)

        • Any deals for the vsx 520 in there?

        • No, the only receiver in there is the Yammy, but at $288 I reckon it's bit of a bargain! I might post it as a deal in the morning, depends if I sleep in or not before work! ;)

If you're chasing a VSX-520 then look here http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/44219 & I just checked the code still works! I'm very happy with mine, the service from Videopro was fantastic; & it's got a lot of features for $343 with free delivery, IMHO the sound quality is pristine! :D

UFO is right about the Onkyo TX-SR308, it's just as nice but the only place I could find it sub-$400 was refurbed on ebay (Bing Lee's $369 special is all sold out).

        • Yeah I am really leaning towards the VSX-520 with some people reporting in WP that they got in for $266 back in december at JB. Surely we must be able get similar prices in for the end of financial year sale.
