I bought this one on 20 April for $43 and already got $6 store credit when they had 40% off but I think I am outside the two weeks for any more store credit.

If I return it do I get to keep the store credit?

    • -1

Yep. Returned an item once and mentioned I had recieved store credit and asked what do I do about that. He said don't worry about it and use it.

    Shame its not 5w-30

in Australia, warm temperature, there is not too much difference when you use 5w/30 or 10w/30?

    • yes i've been using 10w-30 in 5w-30 spec, no issues whatsoever.

  • +1

I wouldnt think there would be too many cars which could use a 10W30 TBH these days? (even my old 2000 magna was 5W30, my 04 corolla 5W30)

The W grade is the grade of the oil on engine start or cold temps and doesn't really matter our Australian temperate unless you frequent the aussie apls during snow season. The operating grade 30 is probably whats more important.

The 5w30 is recommended by manufacturers for new engines as the viscosity is higher, but as engines wear in a higher grade oil is fine.

I've used 10w40 on pretty much all our vehicles from high powered turbos weekender to dads ute and mums golf and have never had an issue.

    • Right! - you can warm your car up for 30 seconds and there is no difference.

  • FFS bought one over the long weekend with 40% off.

    • I couldve said that about the brake cleaner… Bought the cheapest brand Aussie export stuff and it was still 8bucks. zzzz

    • Buy another one and then return it with the old receipt?

$15.29 RRP for that brake cleaner is insane.

It's basically the same product as the Export Degreaser but with half of the naptha content replaced with isopropyl alcohol.

    At $3.33 a can it's a good price.

    • then ,can i use export degreaser instead?

      • Provided that you follow it up with residue free cleaner like isopropyl alcohol or acetone then it'll be fine (avoiding the brake pad surface itself as you would with the Bendix product).

Basically you're just paying for the convenience of having both cleaners in the same can. As I said, at $3.33 each that's probably worth it seeing as Export Degreaser is usually about $2 a can on special.

I used 1 can of this Bendix brake cleaner and it is amazing stuff, better than export degreaser! I used it to clean my power steering pump during a rebuild and was very impressed with how clean it left the surface, no oily residue like export degreaser.

      • no oily residue like export degreaser.

That's the isopropyl alcohol doing its job.

  • if you buy this you are supporting Local Jobs, this is made in Ballarat, Victoria..

    please buy1`!

    • oil or brake cleaner?

  • Any oil nerds wanna chime in? Im not sure if the add pack on this is better or worse than the edge 5w30

From your user name and asking my crystal ball I recently bought from AliExpress, I gather you drive a 2006 Corolla? In that case…just buy the absolute cheapest brand name mineral oil.

      • 1999 s2000 and a 1996 Magna actually

  • Just grabbed a dozen cans of brake cleaner for $36 (trade card) - at $3 a can insane value.

Thanks OP! Grabbed the oil using in 2019 Kia Cerato 2.0 , the manual states 5w-30w however on my last service Kia actually used 10w-30w I'm sure it's fine I live in Brisbane

    • Yep Hyundai service used the same on my wifes car

      • I've so far done one service at Kia then another at my local mechanic it's alot cheaper and I can supply oil which subtracts $70

Haven't asked Kia if I can supply own oil and get a deduction..
