  • Got the last one from Liverpool NSW
The guy didn't bother to lower the price… damn SH*T attitude

  • to all buyers in WA, what was the lowest price you could get? did anyone budge on the $299?

  • so many reviews, amazing

  • Got one late this afternoon for $290 at Mt Ommaney in Brisbane. They refused to price match, they said that the "head office" told all of the Qld JB's this morning that they are not allowed to price match interstate JB's anymore. They had about 5 sets left.

I just got eyefinity working on all 3 of them it is awesome running Hawx-2 .

Took me a few days to get the PC running Eyefinity but all sorted.

    YOU ARE THERE.

When running a computer run in VGA 1920x1080 or HDMI 1600x900 .

TV works fine everything is great.

When you think your picture is dodgy press info on the remote and you will see
the digital stuff is low res that is transmitted. Not the TV's fault it.

I'll be posting a youtube this weekend some time of 3 x 32" soniqs running Eyefinity
on the PC using 2 x 5770's crossfired here at the following link.

The youtube already there is not the 3 x 32" screens its just one I plucked of youtube to demonstrate the game Hawkx-2. I will be adding the Soniq 32" Version this weekend.

    • That…is…awesome!!! :)

    • You can get full 1080p without overscan using factory menu. I did.

      • how do you access the factory menu?

  • Got mine today for $269.00, a good tip is to ask before hand whether or not they price match receipts. If they say yes we do then say I am looking to buy a smallish tv preferrably 32 inches do you have any specials on? When they say funny enough you ask that we have a Soniq for $299.00 say wow that looks great. Can I buy that one, sure the salesman says and then you say ohh btw here is a copy of the receipt I would like that for $269.00 thanks as per you stating you price match. :D

    • nice, scan of invoice?

figure if I get another one with a few invoices, will make it much easier.

      • will do when I get home

      • No point scanning invoice. I printed a copy $269 & they have been told by their management not to discount. Bah.

  • saw this tv at macqaurie jb today, its a fat bastard!! I have gotten so use to seeing LED now.

    still considering grabbing one though..

    • when you say fat, are you talking about just the tv or the tv + stand? i say something this tall and heavy needs all the support it can get-some are way to easy to tip over with just a slight nudge, which is why some tvs have the wall anchor option

      • just the tv, its really big looking. those LED look very smart, they are razor thin!

  • just bought one from Macgregor,QLD, they have 20+ left

    • i got one problem, i plug a antenna in(the cheap one, $2 from ebay), i can got 24 dvb-t channels, but all of them are SD(stand definition), how can i get the HD signal? i am living in Sunnybank Hills, QLD

  • Bought it today in Melbourne, Northland Westfield Shopping Centre. No sales person was interested in even asking if I wanted any help.

Had to grab one of the guys doing a stock take or something like that. He in turned tried to push me off to one of the sales when the sales started serving another customer. So the stock take guy asked how he could help. I pointed at the tv on display and said I was interested in it. Before I even ask to price match or attempt to lower the price, he said he'll go to the back to grab one for me and off he went.

3-4 mins later, appeared at the checkout counter with the TV, yelled out to me to come to him. I went to him and he was already telling the cashier the product code etc. Funny thing was… the cashier actually asked if it was $288 like before and the stock take guy just went no no… $299. I was going to ask if it could actually go down to $288 when he turned around and said.. "Here u go.. it's pretty light so you can carry it with one hand" and then just walked off…. Extremely bad service. No offer of extended warranty, no offer to help carry it, basically the service was… just pay me and piss off.

Anyway, got it sitting in the boot of my 3 door hatch now. Will have a play with it on the weekend

Biggest limitation that I've found: It does not have headphones out jack.
So you cannot connect your basic speakers to it.

Only audio out: - coaxial. I guess more expensive amplifiers got that.

I was really dissappointed today, when I tried to connect my new speakers to it. :(

    • +1

I think its on the side just a small hole.
I'm not at home to check ATM.

The headphone jack. I thought one was there.

      • Can you please confirm. I am trying to find a headphone jack to connect my 2.1 speakers but cannot find any. The only port is the audio in next to the VGA.

        • +2

Yes you are correct as far as earphone jack goes there is none I can find.

          Under Audio out you have.

          COAXIAL only.

          Sorry about that.

my father in law bought 14 of these for the nursing home he works at, and got not 1c discount!
    And he paid cash.

    And he's a Collingwood supporter.

    • +1

so basically he took them all so no one else could have one?! should have charged him more!

      • +1

Point is? He's allowed to buy what ever he pleases.

        • -1

          -facepalm-

    • JB catalogue states "limit 2 per customer"..

      • +1

JB Employee thinks % commission from 14 TVs ;)

  • I bought 3 and got them for 290 each.

  • Which is the best way to connect the 2.1 speakers to the TV?

  • -2

No offence intended on a still good deal, but Soniq don't exactly make good TV's…

The colour is WAY out of contrast, there's a lack of features, they probably won't last half as long as a reputable TV and they all have pretty poor build quality.

I'm not trying to troll your post or anything, but in my opinion it's worth spending an extra few hundred $$ on a reputable tv that will probably last MUCH longer.

    • LOL yes they do I own 3.

    • That's silly. You can always adjust it via factory menu. I did.

  • -3

Xdefine is right.you get what you pay for.no bargain here.

  • +4

you guys forgot to add… and we work for samsung :P ;)

    seriously though:
i'd prefer to spend 299 now, then 299 again in 4-5 years time if this TV breaks down by them… (rather than 600 bux now, which doesn't even get you anything that good.)

in 4-5 years time might even be able to get a sony at that price with better specs.

so much easier to upgrade later when better technology comes out rather than holding onto this TV for 15-20 years and not wanting to let it go due to the capital investment sunk into it.

future value of a dollar is quite good - specially when your looking at any type of tech…

  • +1

The TV is excellent , the build is fine, works great, color is fine with more than enough options to adjust it if needed at all.

  • +1

The usb media function is brilliant! straight away with RMVB,AVI,MKV,and so on~! nice!

  • +2

yep, mkv files with subtitles work great!
we bought it for 3 reasons, better picture(than last tv), media player + pvr features, and it consumes about 50watts less power than previous 32" tv so power bills should be a little lower, what more can you ask for?
manual is ok but doesn't say anything about how to record or use timeshift, i know how to but for older folks/technophobes it can be hard, and just recently i found out you can playback a file whilst recording tv, not even the standalone pvr it replaced could do that!

  • Does anyone know if this was a one of deal or if they're getting more stock? :) Cheers

    • depends which store. some stores said they would be getting more stock. some said every store was only given 70 to sell and that's it. try asking the different JB stores around you.

  • all sold out every store in NSW, some said they are getting some more in - i think its bs
    this ran out really quick

    ozbargained!

  • does anyone know which Vic stores still got them?

    • You could try ringing around if you haven't already.

      • +1

I called 3 stores. All of them said sold out in Victoria.

    • Try Northland JB Hifi. I still see them on display on the floors last Sat

      • +1

Which JB store are you referring to- Northland Homemaker or Northland Shopping Centre? I called Homemaker store and they have none. Also told me no store has them anymore.

        • Sorry it was the JB inside Northland Shopping Centre.

FYI one of the guys at whirlpool has provided the commands to get into the service menu… some of the guys have said making some fine adjustments have improved the quality of the TV.

    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1705487&p…

  • Looks to be comletely sold out now, though they have a new 32' HD (unlike Soniq FHD) in store, the brand name he said is ICON or AKON, said to be manufactured in same Soniq factory @ AUD 299.

  • There is a small bug in the OS for my TV-set. (Likely to be the same for all Soniq TVs)

Wake-up timer. If you set it up to work on Mon-Fri only, it will also wake you up on Saturday.

  • how handy-if you work on saturdays!
btw, does anyone know how to bring up the schedule page quickly? the only way i can do it now is to go to epg and add a new item, and then i have to delete it, that's about 7 or 8 key presses
