      • Yeah, it's pretty easy on gyprock. Just knock on it with your knuckles, should sound less hollow when you find a stud.

I spoke to Miranda store today and they said they will be receiving 90 units this week.

    • Just bought from Miranda, still about ten units on the floor.

  • How is the sound quality?

  • hmmmm this tv isnt very good for computer monitor… currently my GPU card is 6870 and connected the tv with hdmi. its very hard to read and write text with this tv.

was seating approx 1,5m - 2m from the tv but not avail.

    • Blacktown store got 70 of these this afternoon

    • Blacktown store got 70 of these this afternoon

    • wow, really? looks like i'll let this one pass then.

Try VGA, some TVs don't scale HDMI/DVI from PCs very well.

And no, there is no loss of quality going back to analogue VGA from digital HDMI; and you'll get the full resolution! ;)

        • does the TV have VGA?

        • Woohoo, good advice!

DVI to HDMI looked a bit rank, I had a moment of buyers remorse.

I then tried VGA and Huzzah! Worked great! 32" LCD monitor ftmlw.

        • tazmaniak, what's the viewing distance for you?

        • Itwo: The screen is about 80cm from my eyes. I can imagine it may be a little daunting for some, and may cause headaches from long use, but so far seems ok. Will update after I've had a bit more of a play.

        • You can adjust for overscan in factory menu. Thought this is obvious. I did mine and looks fine.

    • Actually if you connect via VGA you will get the sharp High Definition.
If you are running HDMI you need to set your resolution around 1600 x 900.

Took me a while to work it out.

I am running 3 of them off my computer in 1920x1080 via VGA.
Running under windows 7 via HDMI 1600x900 was excellent.

I am setting up Eyefinity with the 3 TV's over the next couple of days so that should be fun.

    • If you got windows 7, try making the font bigger, go desktop>right click>prosonalize>display>change to Medium or even Large>logout and log back in to see the change. hope that helps

  • Yes TV has VGA.. Bought one for dad.. couldn't be happier :)

  • Anyone want to buy a wall mount for this TV? I've got a few brand new i can sell for $20 each if you're around parramatta.

  • No stock in Sydney World Square or Pitt St Mall yesterday night.

World Square told me Pitt St had them, but when I went there the guy said no and didn't even want to talk to me, obviously people are on the hunt for them, apparently these TV's aren't supposed to be advertised until June 1st Catalogue goes out.

  • got one yesterday at Fishwick DFO homemaker ACT, there were 8 of them on the floor when I came @5.30pm

I'm not very fussy & think picture quality, changing channel, sound, etc are brilliant @ this price. It's just right for my bedroom. 40" would be too big

  • So next week for QLD'ers? Starting Monday the 30th?

    • Kedron JB had them on the floor last night. Picked one up around 7pm

  • In stock & moving like hot cakes at Whitfords WA.

    • Same at Osborne Park WA.

  • Grabbed one today from Chatswood JB NSW.

    TV - $269.00
    2 years ext warranty - $60.00

    All together for $329.00

The rep told me that if I want to bundle a BR player or any BR discs they can do even cheaper.

Tested so far and the picture is pretty sweet however the speakers are very mediocre.

    • how'd you get it for $269 just becausae you got the 2 years ext warranty?

did you say how much will you give it to me if i got extended warranty or did he offer this to you first?

      • It's cuz I got the warranty. Otherwise he is not willing to go lower. :(

I asked for lower but he said he can't do anything with the price unless I bundle. He then offered $30 bucks off if I get 2yrs ext warranty.

    • Can you post your receipt for others that wanna get this deal?

      • +5

        Here you go. :)

        http://oi54.tinypic.com/j8fipx.jpg

Also… I noticed this clause in their extended warranty.

        15-Day Free Look
If you require cancellation of this extended warranty plan within fifteen(15) days of the Extended warranty plan's original date of purchase, We will refund the amount you paid for this Extended warranty plan in full at the store of purchase.

This extended warranty plan cannot be cancelled after the 15-Day free look period.

So…… if you really wanna… you could always…. you know….

  • extended warranty is all profit(i.e little/no cost) which is why he could drop the tv price $21 below cost price, still, that's 40 bucks for an extra 1 year warranty, depends on JB, i've never claimed JB warranty, do they replace item on the spot or take months doing the 2 step repair waltz?

  • i'm sure it happens and knock on wood but never had a fault with any TV's i've had ever so extended warranty is not really needed but of course for peace of mind, you should get it.

For the 2 years extended warranty and I assume 1 year manufacturer warranty and then 2 years on top of that and only $329, its not too bad paying the extra for this.

  • if you just paid $299 full asking price you paid too much.some people got it for $269 without buying extended warranty.here is example.Just picked one up from Westfield Pitt St for 269.

Anyone know what media format it takes over USB?that was from Whirlpool forums.please don't believe the sale person from jb that saying $290 is cost Price.all rubbish.if anyone paid in full asking price should ask jb for refund the differences.we are oz bargainers after all.good luck.

  • this is the thread http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1705487
    kluger are you aka uluxus?

  • Anyone bought one in Melbourne in last few hours?

  • Was going to buy one tomorrow..

However the Kogan deals.com.au deal has struck my eye.

Purchasing a voucher for $49 gives you $100 credit for the website, which i would probably use for a 26 inch LED TV (which may be more suitable to a bedroom of my size)

    http://www.kogan.com.au/shop/26-full-hd-led-tv-pvr-and-hd-tu…

The price of the tv is $349 minus the applicable discount of $51 = $298 plus shipping (roughly $30) so $30 more…
I know its a bit more for a smaller tv, but from what i've read kogan are superior products and the LED uses much less power (so i guess you would make the $30 up in electricity costs). It seems to be very very thin! unlike a few things i've read on this television.

Was just wondering what people thought about these options? (I didn't even want a new tv until i saw this deal haha i love ozbargain)

    • wow. tempting too. but $30 extra for a panel 6" smaller.

  • So this TV is good for a PC monitor with VGA - DVI connections?

  • 1/ From the earlier specs:-
    "Unit Size(LxDxH mm) 796x233x578"
    - so that would be 23.3cm depth!! (just over 9 inches!) Seems a lot for a 'flat' panel.
    - can someone who has bought one confirm this?

    2/ I haven't bought a flat panel before:
    - does this come with a table stand included? Or do you have to buy a stand separately (or a wall-mount)?
    - or given the above depth can this unit stand up by itself on a table top?

3/ Also the same specs say "PVR: Yes"!
    - so I can plug a 1TB HDD into this and it will work straight out as a PVR??????!!
    - again, any new owner able to confirm this?
    - is this a common ability in newer TV's with USB and on-board tuner?
    - any brand limits as to which HDD's would be compatible?

    • +1

The stand is 23cm's in depth, the actual LCD is around 10cm deep.

      • Thanks alfy. Now the specs make sense. I see the box does state PVR capacity and timeshift too.

  • Anyone got one on the gold coast? I tried and no luck

    • i tried yesterday at robina, they had no clue. i should of bought one when i was in sydney this week

  • Anyone bought this TV for $269 in Melbourne?

    • Yer I'm wondering the same, that would be ridiculously cheap. Might try to bargain one on the phone to make sure they got stock and can do that price.

  • Just got one from westfield pitt street mall they got some in yesterday apparently around 10 left

Got one from Artarmon Sydney for $269, backed up by this receipt

    http://iforce.co.nz/i/4ajpupv4.e2e.jpg

    kindly posted by McLarenMercedes.

There were none on display and I had to ask one of the salesfolk if they had come in yet.

He checked his "whatsit" after I showed him the receipt copy, and went off and found one, and put it through as $269 without a fuss.

He said they had lots in stock.

  • +2

The Prahran JB HiFi store declined to pricematch it to $269 even after showing them the copy of the above receipt. Looks like you guys in sydney got lucky.

    • Mate of mine tried the receipt in Brisbane and they said it was a fake receipt and that it's a fixed price of $299 Australia wide and they were not allowed to lower it even by $1

      • They're a bunch of liars. Don't deal with them ever again………

        • Yer he didn't buy one just walked out as he was pissed with the service. He said he still would have paid $299 if the sales nut handled it better.

  • Got one this afternoon at Indooroopilly Brisbane for $329 incl 2 years extra replacement warranty. You would need to take copy of above receipt with you. Guy who served me wss told it okay on this one but not to discount any more……! So be prepared to pay full $299 - or try elsewhere.

Indo received about 40 sets yesterday. As at late this afternoon (saturday) they had about half left. They have one on display with $299 price clearly marked on it. Picture looked great with Avatar on. Unboxing soon to play…

Bought one this arvo from Sydenham / Watergardens in Melbourne VIC for $299. They did not budge at all when I said there are people who can get it for less. "If you can get it from Marybirnong for $270, I'd suggest you go there, because our manager has said not to go less than that".
What piss me more, they told me to help myself (drag it to the cashier)

  • yep it really depends on the place, whilst some people have managed to get it for $269 or $329 with the 2 years, some places dont want to give you a lower price and they act like bitches.

Anyway i got one at Liverpool and the asian guy who was up himself wouldn't give us a lower price and tried to get us to pay for extended warranty but was rude. got it for $299 but was hoping for lesser so yeah try and look for someone friendlier or a know a shop willing to give it for a lower price like the above shops.

Watching the tv now, its not bad - not sure if its a general issue but changing channels (also noticed on my sisters sharp tv) for digital tv, its about a 1-2 second delay which is annoying

  • Picked one up this afternoon, well the missus did. It's in the bedroom. Couldn't pass up one at this price. It changes channels quicker than my Toshiba 40 LCD in the lounge room.

Looks like we'll be needing another xbox too rolls eyes

  • Just bought one from Narre Warren for 299. Showed the salesperson the receipt for 269 and got the standard 'I'll check with my manager' and 'sorry man these are already below cost' repsonse. Asked if I could get 50% off blu ray titles with the tv (instead of a player as per original offer) as I already had a blu ray player but even then he wouldn't budge. Guess you cant really complain for $299… bargain for those who manage to get it price matched!

  • I went to JB HiFi Camberwell (Victoria) this afternoon with the 270$ receipt but bought one for 290$ (9$ less), the dealer said that is the best he could do.

    • thanks, i'll go to the same one, not too far away because i went to the local doncaster one, didn't even mention price was just asking about the ipad2 first and i hadn't even finished when he just walked off to talk to someone else so i left. was pretty rude.

  • Geez was close to buying this tv but the service is horrendous, ended up walking out of there. Parramatta store hire people with bad attitudes?

Not worth the trouble for an average but good priced tv especially when the service is so bad.
No wonder I don't shop at jb hifi anymore.

    • well it is parramatta mate, wouldn't expect much in the way of service in that area.

  • Just bought a set in Chermside, Brisbane! They have 2 more left in the store! Fantastic deal and wasn't too bad for an extra tv. :)

  • Tried Chatswood and Warringah Mall JB Hifi - they would not budge below $299.

  • the JB Hi-Fi in Nunawading(VIC) was rude too, they wouldn't go any lower than $299

so I guess people should try elsewhere!

  • Bought 3 of these today from Chermside in Brisbane, got them for $329 each with extended warranty. Great buy.

  • I got 2 today at Moore Park JB for $290 each.

    • One of the sales guy will do 269 in Moore park, or even lower together with extended warranty. You gotta be smart to find those that are casual or part time… ;-)

      • Bugger, but all good. Good deal in the end :)

  • anyone tried belrose supa centa?? good guys there, got a great deal on laptop that 4 other JB's refused to go even close too.

    • I agree, although I have only shopped there once. ;-)

  • Got one today. How do I record to USB?

    • should be in the manual. check there.

i'm not very happy at all!!

DELL had their LCD Monitors pretty cheap, 23" for $160 - prior to purchasing this, i was trying to find a 32" tv to be connected to my home computer, and this price is TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE..

    GARGHHHH!!!

  • Had a look at the Soniq 32" yesterday in Pitt St Mall - image seemed very 'grainy' and was very thick in width.

    • +1

might have been the video they had on, specially if it was split multiple times… havent noticed it too grainy at home.

      that said, it's a 299 set…

ahhh, i see your showing a true "bargain" spirit! /tic/

  • OK, I have found the 796x233x578 measurement, but can someone have a quick measure (width and height) of the TV without stand please? Cheers!

    • w796 x h533 x d110

Always glad to help out a fellow Novocastrian! FWIW, it's a cracker for $299, image quality is great, sound really isn't that terrible TBH, and the media player & PVR seem to work just fine! :)

      • +1

Thanks StewBalls! I'm off to Charlie Square after work then :-)

I have 3 of these 32" TV's and am setting up Eyefinity on my PC for Gaming over the next day or so and I am making a youtube of it.

When using a PC use VGA as input for 1920x1080 resolution. HDMI will look crap in this resolution.

When using HDMI use 1600x900 (I did this in Windows 7 and it looked great)
HDMI also supplies audio to the TV as well.

I'll post the YouTube Link when done.

  • Can I plug my 2.1 Logitech speakers in this?

  • +1

Yes if those are made for a computer earphone jack.
Just plug it in the earphone jack.

Or plug them in the audio out on the back if you have RCA.

  • Daniel at Lounge of Legends forums has 3 of these TV's also and is doing Eyefinity with his PC and he is on every night. You can ask him questions.

I bought this TV yesterday. It's fantastic, does everything you could want. Only possible negative is that it can only record to USB when watching that same channel, eg doesn't have dual tuner. But for three hundred bloody dollars, it is a damn good TV.

Stop reading this right now, and go and get yourself one of these TVs

  • Does anyone know what the extended warranty of JB actually cover?

  • +2

Just picked one up in the new Westfield on Pitt St, delivered for free on Saturday.

    • +1

Did you ask them to deliver it to you?

      • +2

        They offered.

  • Just got last one from Charlestown Square, apparently they can't sell the one on display. 15 more due in tomorrow though!
