Seagate BarraCuda 2.5" SATA SSD 250GB $39.20 + $15 Delivery (Free with eBay Plus) @ Computer Alliance eBay

PCOMP

These SSDs have better performance than the WD Green/Kingston A400/Crucial BX500 type drives you normally see around this sort of price point.

A month ago these were $52 at Umart although commenters noted they'd seen them for $49, and the cheapest price on StaticIce at time of posting is $68.

  • Would be pretty good for a storage drive? e.g. photos, movies etc

Your better off using hard drives for that.

      SSD = improved speed/performance = system drive
HDD = cheaper = storage drive

One reason I would recommend this drive is for the purpose I'm using for, which is to switch out a 10 year old, slow, worn out laptop 2.5" Hard Drive Disk with this new 2.5" SSD.

My mum uses her laptop on occassion and instead of buying a fresh new laptop I thought I'd get a fresh install of Windows 10 on this SSD so the laptop will have new life.

With SSDs so cheap now there shouldn't be any reason not to have one.

Never seen the seagate ssd before, is it reliable?

    • Bit anecdotal, but I had the 500GB version of this SSD fail on me tonight after purchasing elsewhere in Nov 18 (read 6 months old), so that's a no from me. Samsung SSD's I have in other systems holding up fine after years though.

      • Internet seems to think that it's pretty reliable so I am gonna give this a spin. 5 year warranty apparently.

But that's not a good sign.

      • Yeah not a good sign, think I'd rather pay the extra 40 bucks for the samsung for peace of mind.

Ordered. Can't go wrong with 39 bucks.

  • Good price for 250GB SSD.
Could have used these for my build https://au.pcpartpicker.com/b/bDvnTW

  • *Oops, I meant eBay plus

    • They said they would, but they haven't yet

      • Same thing for me. Still got the free shipping for this order.
