HELP! Mother's Day and I've Got Her Nothing Yet

Hey OzBeezers, I desperately need some suggestions for a Mother's Day gift besides the usual crap handbags blah blah. We were blessed to have our first baby girl and any creative, fun ideas are much appreciated. Note it's Friday so online shopping period has expired.

Budget… 100 bucks + 15% contingency??

This is part of Mother's Day deals for 2019.

Day spa voucher - get her a day off to go relax/enjoy whilst you take care of the bub.

    • Great minds - beat me by 1 second

    • Yeah, I was thinking this before clicking the thread.

    • Thanks! This sounds great but the little one is on the b00b and doesn't do bottle. Mrs. Can't leave her for more than an hr!

  • Is this for your partner or for your mum? You can still get vouchers online (like a massage, pamper package etc.) which might be nice for her if you've got a newborn?

    • Partner :) as above, these getaways and spa vouchers aren't practical for few more months till she goes on solids and off the boob

  • creative, fun ideas

unless you can create these in secret over 2 days, your only hope is buying her something.

card from daughter signed with hand / feet print

    • This, maybe with some pajama's or something like that as it's getting cold.

Personal touch from baby will help earn points.

    • Fantastic idea!! I'm on board with this

Now to figure out how to sign with hand and feet.

  • Go onto Groupon under the "Things to do" section and find her a voucher for an activity she would enjoy. Something like this (depending on where she lives):
    https://www.groupon.com.au/deals/sydney-harbour-tall-ships-4…

    Or this:

Groupon is also giving an extra 10% off discount at the the moment, and cashrewards and shopback both give cash back.

Seems like it your daughter's problem, not yours..

As I tell my wife every year, it is mother's day, not wife's day, and she isn't my mother.

Side note, anyone know a good way to insulate a dog kennel? The nights get cold in May…

    • Nah mate.

    • Always been saying this but my words don't seem to go too far

Spoilt babies these days, spending all their pocket money on pureed avocado.

Is your mum asian? If so, she'll say "don't waste your money on gifts"

      While secretly wanting gifts.

It's a cultural thing to give and insist while receiver refuses.

      • Clean up the house and wash the dishes. She'll still complain that you never help around the house, but at least she can take a break for the day.

        • House has been cleaned and vacuumed today, a day early!!

      • I'm on board, really we have everything we need. She has everything she needs. We're frugal while at the same time buy things we want and need… Just not instinctively.

Alright that's too much FIRE speaking there…

  • Personal massager

If she s a new mum, she will love :

    • some time for herself ( spa, shopping, nails, hairdresser…..)
    • a lunch or dinner at a place she loves with you and bub
    • having her partner around handling everything without asking her
    • a family photo shoot to have some pictures of the three of you
  • Tatts ticket

If she's still staying at home, even part time, I don't think there's much better than Peter Alexander world's best mum pyjamas. You've missed the sales but… keep the receipt and buy again the week after mother's Day but return on original receipt, they'll go down 50% or more very quickly.

Also a bottle of Mumm champagne

New mums love photos with their daughters on first mums day too, so maybe think about a nice outfit for your daughter and some nice places to take them together

    You're welcome

Sorry Op can't help. My mrs doesn't like it when I buy her presents.

On Sunday, I'm helping the kids make her Mauritian crepes for breakie in bed and to pick her favourite flowers from the garden. They've worked together on making her a card and they've individually made her something.

Not sure what the elders are doing but my toddler is doing an interpretative dance and giving her an IOU book of cuddles and kisses. He's painstakingly drawn and coloured a "love heart" on each of the 20 page of the book. Each page entitles the bearer to a free cuddle and kisses, no question asked.

  • Get the best, cutest pic you can of baby and see how quickly you can get a canvas made? Or something to that effect that can be done in a day lol

The mother of my daughters and I are separated so I only have a need to buy 1 present woo

Thanks everyone some good suggestions there, hopefully it's helped others too.

I'm going with a card… Will see how to get it signed by bub.

    Will bake her a cake.

Will also head to kmart and print photos of her journey as a mum till date. Lucky I'm a photo person so my Google Photos are well organised.
