    Wow that a clear bargain

  • Any chance of a non SE deal?

  • Too pricey for me.
Rep, any chance a deal on good old Redmi Note 5 Pro?

    • -1

Sorry no stock on that one.

    • whats good about it?it's been released for a while now

  • Keep the awesome deals coming Clear! Can't wait for a Mi 9 Regular deal!

  • +3

mi9 for 500 and ill buy, cmon rep do something, work your magic

    • +10

I'll see what we can come up with.

    • do you know mi9(6+128g) official price is 2999 RMB = 630aud ?

      • i do know, but rep is a magician

        • And then U have to pay magician a price for his magic.

  • @rep any chance of getting it before 16th May in Sydney? I am travelling overseas. Want to get it before.

    • +6

Afraid not. Even with express it won't arrive in that time.

  • +2

Do you have 128GB version instead?

    • +3

I'll see what price we can do on that one tomorrow.

  • Hi Rep, any offers on Mi 9 128gb?

  • Love this phone, perfect size. Beautiful design.

  • +4

    The Bad

    No 3.5mm jack
    MIUI bogged down with ads
    No IP rating

    from Android Central.

    • i dont get ads on my miui on my poco fwiw

    • +6

I believe the ads only appear if you set the region to India/China. Should be mostly ad-free in every other region, and if you disable some settings in various apps it should be completely ad-free.

Don't think any Xiaomi phone has ever had an IP rating, and the Mi line lost both the 3.5mm jack and microSD slot long ago.

For this size (<150mm tall, ~70mm wide) this is the best mid-range priced phone available.

    • No microSD as well

  • -1

Small battery and smaller screen kill this deal for me. Sticking to ma Mi 8 Lite for now ..

    • I was thinking about this, too, and I want to wait for the GSMArena endurance rating result, but this video seems quite positive:
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPu_w0-G54Q
Despite being 3000mah, I guess the SD712 chipset is quite efficient.

      • That's because the 712 uses the 10nm process compared to say the 660 that uses the less efficient 14nm process.

        • bro what happened to the mi9 deal lol
          just checkin in

          • -1

@striker5950: Still negotiating the price on that one.

      • GSMarena battery test is my metric too

  • Awesome price!

  • this or pixel 3a?

    • +1

I have a pixel 3a (got it yesterday in the US) but the specs on the xiaomi phone look better. I would like to see some camera comparisons.

Pixel 3a also isn't waterproof (like the xiaomi), both have oled Samsung screens. Pixel 3a has the headphone jack (xiaomi doesn't). Lots of bezel (top and bottom) on the pixel 3a, not sure about the xiaomi.

I don't know think you can beat this deal right now.

      • +2

People are actually buying the 3a? 😕

        • Only for Some obsessive Google stock ROM users.
I personally tried Nexus 5 for a year. Will never touch Google stock ROM again.

      • +1

Xiaomi camera hardware is better, same as mi9. You can install gcam for pixel software.

  • I have been eyeing this (and the 128 version) for a long time and seems price of this model had been solid, generally no more than $10 drop on discount. Seller too stingy?

    • I covered this in the last deal. New release phones are always higher priced for being new as well as the difficulty obtaining stock and very thin margin.

      • Mid range phone market had always been tough. More release during the year from everyone plus the previous year flag ship and the few cut throat cheap but high spec models……

I just don't see this phone selling unless price are lower. People will always put Xiaomi in the cheap flagship / dirt cheap low end category. if you try to selling a Mid core spec Xiaomi with a Mid core price. People would just walk away.

I can see one argue that lower the price will eat into sales of Redmi note 7 and that may be right. Having so much model available may be the trap that Xiaomi need to get out.

        • Couldn’t agree more. So many versions/iterations and product lines…that’s very confusing to the consumer.

I wonder if Xiaomi understands the KISS model?

    • I just bought this for $417 on Tobydeals. Cheapest I've seen it.

      • That is about us$292
        GB@299, BG@300 for the 64GB model.
Not going to jump up and down a us$10 discount.

        • -1

Just remember to include GST prices in BG and AliExpress as they charge them at checkout 😉

  • Does it have a blue light filter?

    • Yes that's included in MIUI's Night Mode.

  • -2

@rep please bring deal on Mi 9, 6gb, 128 gb version. As of now I can see you guys are selling for AUD 737.29 but I want more discount.

    • +1

Goldway on Aliexpress doing around $660

      • Can you please provide a link. Thanks

      • thats too much bruh, rep can do it for 5 hundies im waiting on it

    • Everyone always wants more discount….

  • How long it takes to get it delivered in metro Brisbane.. Worst case?

    • if you say worst case, it may not arrive at all? joke
keen to know this too but to Sydney Metro OP ^^

    • Advertised time is 2-7 business days for processing and 5-8 business days for the AU Direct Line shipping.

  • i was reading this review:
    https://www.notebookcheck.net/Xiaomi-Mi-9-SE-Smartphone-Revi…

    and mentions:
"only Widevine L3 for the Chinese version"

    is this true?

    • That seems to be correct as China wouldn't be able to utilise L1 content without Google/VPNs. Considering this is the global version it would have the required Widevine L1 for Netflix/YouTube 4K.

  • how's that compared to Sammie s8?

  • +1

    @rep

When I first clicked go to deal, the price was AUD 309 and now it is AUD 450+

What happened here? I took a photo to send it to someone.

    • You've got your currencies mixed up. Price before coupon is $309.99 US.

      • The currency is definitely showing 309.99 in AUD
Can I send you the photo somewhere?

    • +1

      same issue here.

      • -4

The rep is trying to avoid this issue by not responding.

I hope people experiencing similar issues respond to the original comment and vote it up.

        • +3

Or maybe I'm out for dinner with my family? I don't spend 24/7 on OzBargain so please don't make ridiculous accusations as all this Geek work is voluntary in my own time 😉

          I've asked GeekBuying to check.

Edit: Geek are aware and working on a fix. The US price in my post is the correct price.

  • Seems Xiaomi Mi 9 SE and Xiaomi Mi 9 have similar specs. Why 9 SE is much cheaper than 9?

    • The Mi 9 SE is basically a cut down version in the key areas.

The main differences being that the Mi 9 has opted for the high end flagship Snapdragon 855 CPU, faster Adreno 640 GPU, Gorilla Glass 6, more 3G/4G bands, 6.4" display, better camera and a larger 3300mAh battery.

      • +1

        broski, mi9 deal please

  • Sorry to ask. I haven't shopped on geekbuying. Do I need to pay tax on top of the price in subject?
Ali, Gearbest, etc will add 10% at check out.
    Thanks.

    • +1

There will be no GST charged at checkout with GeekBuying. They're one of the few not enforcing the tax ;)

      • Thanks for confirming. I guess there also will be no tax at AU custom for item < $1000. Am I right?

        • +1

          That's correct.

          • @Clear: Switching to Geekbuying now.

  • Hi Rep, is the code still active? Tried just now and got this "Sorry, this coupon code is applicable for some specific items."

    • Do you have the one I linked added to the cart? If you were to try and add a different colour that message would usually occur.

      • Thanks Rep, it was the colour that caused the problem. Order went thru without issues, cheers
