It's also $499 at The Good Guys and $499 from Microsoft themselves.
So this is just the price it is and not a bargain.

Just because it’s on sale from multiple places doesn’t mean the RRP permanently changed. Doesn’t justify the neg.

    Importantly, does it run Linux?

    • +3

Of course it does. Microsoft is renowned for supporting Linux.

    • Everything is linux when you take away the gui ;)

    eMMC

    That's a shame

What's everyone experience for using Excel (medium size file) plus opening a few browsers on this machine? I'm hoping to use this very portable machine while I'm out doing sales work and doing some calculations etc.

    • Please define medium, pretty sure it means different size to different people. It should have no issue handle a few thousand rows across multiple tabs. So if you are talking about files 5-10MBs, I don’t see how it would impact much of its performance. Depending on what you browse it will also make a huge difference, and it depends on the browser you use too.

      • Thanks Allenhori, that's quite reassuring. Yes - medium size to me would be up to 100k records with lots of formulas. And I mainly use Google Chrome browser to sometimes view video content as well (but not often), so mainly text and ozbargain of course :)

Sorry Raynes, but it said $699 or higher on multiple sites

  • But yes it did say it on Microsoft site as well

Im sure JB will discount it further if you start haggling. Especially when you point out other major outlets selling for the same price.

  • Yeah they do price matching with most products

  • Would highly recommend ponying up the extra $100 for double the RAM and SSD space

    • I would buy straight away if they offered that upgrade version for $499

    • Totally agree. Whack up the link, if you wouldn't mind. Cheers

Don't forget 64gb is eMMC, as Homr pointed out. Less space AND slower! Ughh

64GB eMMC Storage[3] kills the deal
