Wish they were a little cheaper than $899

  • Price is not that great, but the article I read mentioned part of the promotion was side flights to other Hawaiian islands for $15. Can't see a link for this though.

    • Well I assume the flights all go in via Oahu and those flights are $899 return, and the ones to the other islands are $914 return. So there's your $15.

If only the $15 island hops were separable.

  • I know its not a direct comparison, but Jetstar is so much cheaper to Oahu and the price difference is not worth it IMO.

Also, it was not immediately obvious to me, but that price is return.

    • if you are island hopping it may work out better to go with hawaiian as you get almost free flights between islands if you fly in with them.

      • The islands are pretty good - worth seeing if you've never been.

        I liked Kona and Maui.

Keep your original flight details/tickets and they will let you cart your 32kg across the islands, otherwise you have to book/pay for luggage. I wish I knew beforehand, as I booked first class tickets and did 6 island hopping flights. i think they were USD$100-$200 per flight, per person… Can't remember now.

Jetstar is cheaper - provided you don't take any luggage and can live with 7kg carry and no meals/drinks/videos prepaid.
Hawaiian air is a full service airline. Staff are pretty friendly.

You would probably need luggage allowance coming back, as the discount malls, etc are pretty well priced. You can buy suits, shirts, sneakers, hand bags, branded clothes, etc really cheap.

        ymmv.
