        Agreed. I would’ve expected orders to be cancelled by now if they weren’t going to honour the price The only reason I could see for later orders for cancellation now would be if they can’t secure stock at all.

    For those whose orders say expected ship date June 3rd, I suspect that this is when Amazon and it’s system has another stock fulfilment from WD.

    Amazon usually has a pretty good system when it is out of stock but their system knows when more stock is coming from their suppliers.

      Looks like they are honouring sales for at least the drives they had in-stock, sounds promising for some.

      But I still don't like the odds they will sell them below cost if they have to order thousands more.

        My guess is…. it works like this.

        When they publish a deal, they publish it with a set amount of stock they have.
        If that stock runs out, it then goes to backorder (only if they have agreement for backorders).
        If that runs out, the seller is removed from that product of sale.

        So in theory, everyone who were able to order (not backorder) should get their (in-stock) order.

        It's all automated.

      Yes assuming that delivery occurs. For external HDs currently on Amazon shopback is 4.5% while cashrewards is 3.5%. Free to join for both though each has a minimum balance for withdrawal as well as longish delays for cashback confirmation.

    I also got on the wd 10tb deal a month or so ago and it was similar to this in that a ton of people ordered on evening of the sale, some received it way early, a few days later before easter, some a week after. I was in the last batch and received it nearly a month later. found out it was on back order and didn't know exactly when next shipment from wd would be coming. Amazon live chat incompetent as usual.

    I assume this is the same if they haven't cancelled en masse. Patience padawans.

    By the way, when a lot of you where saying "11k clicks, no way are they going to honour it". Not every click is a purchase. It's just people checking it out. People tend to click on popular things to see for themselves. Whereas not many people will click on unpopular things. That does not correlate to 11k purchases. It's 20k clicks now. It's doubled since the deal ended. People being curious.

      On the other hand many people purchased multiple and the deal was posted elsewhere on the internet. The OzBargain community was probably a small chunk of buyers given Australia itself is a smallish market. The deal also seemed to be available for several hours and they weren’t particularly bad times for many major regions. Keep in mind it was a US price so it was available to a much much larger audience than if this was just Amazon AU, where ultimately we’re a minor dent in terms of Amazons overall market.

      I’d guess they sold well in excess of the ozbargain click through count personally. Even with the 3 unit limit we’ve seen people creating multiple accounts to order more and there’s much more potential customers not using OzBargain than those that do.

        That's true, but it's much easier to create another account than another credit card. And you can't use the same one. So those with partners or multi credit cards might be in luck, but they are the minority.
