  • how much?

  • I think u are not the first time posting here, the first rule price on TITLE.

    BEATEN !!!!

  • I updated the title immediately after posting.

You guys sure are quick. :)

    • Hmm, looks like you added the price to the body of the deal, not the title.

      Edit: Fixed

  • How many do you have in store (at Capitol Sq)?

    • +1

We have more than 10 left in stock.

  • Has anyone know how good this model in comparison with ThinkPad or DELL XPS?

  • looks like olc got some inspiration from this deal: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/45739

I need to buy one in the next few days, which one do you think is better fellow ozbargainers?

    • +2

I wouldn't touch a HP personally, and conversely my experience with Asus machines has thus far been all positive. ;)

    • the specs on the HP looks better. the comparisons are:
      hp: 8gb ram, 640gb hard drive, 5650.
      asus: 4gb ram, 500gb hard drive, 5470.
but then again, the quality on the Asus's seem to be better than the HP's.

      • +1

Aside from the quality, this notebook is a 14" which sort of is a premium here in Australia compared to 15.6".

        • +1

hmm just noticed, all that grunt and it only weighs 2.3kg.. that is pretty damn good..

        • Smaller screen is premium?

        • +1

          Smaller screen is premium?

          "rarity" of it

          13" and 14" is not common(when compared to 10", 15.6" , 17")

          also perfect size for school/uni

    • Thanks stew, aboy and josho. im actually getting this for a non tech savvy relative who wants a sub $1K machine that has enough grunt to go the next few years. They only play games occasionally, and it mostly will be used for office, web and HD videos. Hmm three responses and three different suggestions, though must say on paper the HP looks pretty tempting…

  • Edge E520 from Lenovo was a better deal with Sandy Bridge. Might want to wait to explore Lenovo's barrage of coupons.

  • -3

I was keen till I saw the screen res. 1920x1080 is what I have on my macbook pro and its a option on most dells now, I could not go back to that crappy resolution.

    • +1

At this price range, it's impossible to find a 15.6" Full HD display (let alone a 14" notebook such as this one).

    • Trolling? MBPs don't come in 1920x1080. The highest rez MBP 17" comes in 1920x1200…

  • would this make a good desktop replacement if hookes up to a 24" lcd?
    basic video editing, occasional gaming?

  • Good 14" notebook I have one similar (X42JR-VX141V) with the the Core i7-740QM processor, I purchased mine overseas with 2 year Global Warranty. I've hooked it up to a 50" Plasma and it works well.
