    • Thanks for that. The ‘account service fee’ iis the main pointy of interest. Has anyone done a comparison of this across the various providers?

      • +1

Argh can't edit now lol was gonna put this for Kleenheat:

Even the 25% off plan on Kleenheat works out cheaper

      • AGL's account fee is 6.78c/day (Inc GST

So really they're not great with the exception of the signup bonus.

Fees I quoted above are without the 44% discount, so my table isn't a great comparison

        • I just did a comparison with Kleenheat and AgL based on my current bill and AGL won by about $11. The difference in the account fees is balanced by the supply charge, so the extra % off should reflect?

          • @MeesusEff: Yeah my original table compares full RRP (AGL) against 35% off (Kleenheat), so not a proper comparison :/

But supply charges RRP is the same between both, just the higher account fees but should be better for most to be on AGL

Unfortunately AGL adds a 0.45% payment fee as well :/

            • @spackbace: Ahh ok, I wonder if AGL will classify me as a new customer if I changed over 1 year ago, my 40% off Origin has just run out this month. Will livechat after work :D

However, in my comparison if you manage to squeeze out 40% from Origin that ends up being a better deal as they have no account fees.

              • @MeesusEff: Wow AGL account fees are 6.8c/day= ~6 dollars extra per bill

                • @barozgain: Yup, so its just a supply charge and gas usage for my bill . My supply charge is 19.71c p/d and first 12 units at 13.61c (ex GST) - discount.

                  • @MeesusEff: What a rip off it is if you're not following up on these discounts and are charged full price

                • @barozgain: But their supply charge is 1.97c lower, so the difference between kleenheat and AGL would be 0.08c as that doesnt get discounted. So the bigger % off would make the difference : referring to this comment as the format looks all weird now lol @MeesusEff: Wow AGL account fees are 6.8c/day= ~6 dollars extra per bill

                  • @MeesusEff: As far as I can tell all of the supply and usages charges are actually the same ATCO rates between each provider. Just some are to more decimal places and some pages are slightly out of date.

                    • @coxymla: Yeah, the main differences will be supply charge and/or account fee, so mostly the bigger % off wins

              • +1

@MeesusEff: you can talk to origin. I am use Origin with 40%off since last Dec as I tried to switch to AGL last year. Origin gave my 40% off and $60 credit without any contract

                • @RichardF89: I was referred to my current plan, but the guy was apparently on the retention team and the normal sales people told me they couldnt match it (40% off and $75 credit) , did you talk to someone in the normal sales team or the outbound team?

                  • @MeesusEff: last year AGL give $50 credit and $50 flybuys point but Origin only give me $60 credit the told me this is the maximum they can give. But it was they call me not I called them. Because I have already start to switch to AGL and they want me stay

  • can current customers, switch to this deal?

    • +3

I am currently with them and just called them. I was able to get the 44% off plus 1 month of free gas which will start from the next billing cycle.

      • +1

Just called and got the deal too (45% off+ 1 month free+ 10,000 flybuys points)
        Thanks mate and thanks OP

        • How did you get them to give the 10k flybuys points? I was told this was only for new customer.

          • +1

@greenie: Just say you'll switch to (say any name of any other company) cause they matched the offer lol ( and that this other company instead of flybuys points will give $50 credit)

    • yup i'm already a customer and got it. just used the chat box on the landing page

      • do you still in a contract or you free to switch to another provider?

  • How quick is it to change over? Would it affect supply?

    • For us it took at least a week (or maybe two!). Supply is not affected.

      • Thanks!

  • +2

Just did a comparison on our last Kleenheat bill:
96 days, 496 units (always under the 1st 12 a day) = $71.40 and this was with a 38% discount we currently recieve

Based on the AGL fees and charges and same parameters it comes to $68.90 with the 44% discount on usage. Have already put through the switch after asking Kleenheat to match the discount (declined)

Sorry, AGL Gas is not currently available in your area. If you’d like to know more about our service areas in WA, you can request a call back from our team.

  • Wondering if anyone knows the answer, if I leave Kleenheat with an account in positive territory (due to bill smoothing), what happens with that extra cash? Do I get a cheque or something?
Tried to find an answer and couldn't

    • +1

Call them up and they can refund the excess back onto your credit card or bank account

  • +5

I use 9.36 units per day and my Kleenheat bill is $109.90 due to 38% discount. With AGL it would be $103.73.

    Spreadsheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_qWViNtw2LZ1zLyiVOHY…

    • Plus a discount of 1 month ($103.73) and Flybuys ($50) = $153.73, or $6.40/month over 24 months :)

      • That bill is 3 months, but yep.

    • thanks. any Origin pricing? (only if cheaper) ;-)

      • Can't find origin's account fee anywhere.

But even if it was 0c per day, AGL will be cheaper unless you use very very little gas. (5 units per day)

        • origin doesn't have account fee and it is 40% off

          • @RichardF89: OK, if you can get 40% at origin then you'd be better off unless you use more than 11-12 units per day.

(Feel free to play with the numbers on the spreadsheet, that's why I made it)

            • @coxymla: but the $50 flybuy points and one month free is good enough to switch.

  • I received a discount from flybuys it was 40% off with 20,000 flypoints.

    • $50 extra flybuys with 4% less discount is probably a better option.

You would need to burn 8349 units in an appreciable amount of time for the increased discount to be better.

      • yeah especially I don't use gas a lot. But this offer have 1 month free gas as well. So the difference is maybe $20 credit or extra 4% discount

      • the only thing I doesn't like AGL is 2 years contract

        • +1

          It's not a contract, it's 2 years 44% discount offer.

  • anyone tried ask origin to match this offer?

  • I've been with Kleenheat for ages, changed from Alinta to them as soon as they entered the WA market with their 25% discount. I was able to get them to go to 35% (matching AGL's old offer) plus they bumped it up to 38% because I'm an RAC customer.

I switched to AGL in early January (40% disc offer at the time) and still haven't got a bill yet… it just says in the AGL account portal that our first bill will come soon. Have had bills from Kleenheat as recent as April through. I even got an email from Kleenheat about a week after signing up with AGL saying "please come back".

Signed up with AGL in my wife's name, I wonder what would happen if I signed up again in my name (hence terminating her account, just like moving out of a rental and the next person moves in and opens an account? I need to check if there's a new account opening fee or not.

Even if there was and it was <$30, it may be worth it for the first month free + 44% disc + 10,000 flybuys.

Might be easier just to use the AGL live chat and pretend I'm my wife and ask for them to match the current offer or we'll switch back to Kleenheat. It seems to have worked for a few other existing AGL customers based on comments above.

edit: chatting to them now and they're honouring it because there has been some 'technicality' switching from my old provider to AGL.
    thanks OP!

  • AGL also has a portal for discount vouchers eg Woolworths Coles 5% off gift cards and cinemas tickets etc

  • existing customer … they refuse to give flybuys points since i have got it previously on separate deal
But i was offered 45% off + first month free + 12th month bonus free…..
Not sure if i should change to this plan….

      • 12th month bonus free

      what does that mean?

  • Kleenheat are now offering 45% gas discount for 12 months, to customers that are switching to AGL…

  • Returning AGL customers, are being offered 45%

  • Plus West Coast Eagles fans score the same rate https://campaign.agl.com.au/landing/sponsorship/west-coast/

  • Tried this on Chat. couldn't do flybuy, but got the 45% and free month without trying very hard.

    • Is this with kleenheat or origin?

      • With agl. I'm currently with them. Just told them kleenheat was willing to do 44% and free month, what can they do. 10 mins later my plan got changed to 45% and free month. Got told multiple times to get flybuy, need to call. Didn't bother as was happy with chat results.

        • +1

          Thanks Starburstyellow

  • So which one is better AGL or origin or kleenheat??

  • Extended till July 31st :)

  • I've recently signed up with Kleenheat. They've charged me an estimate for the first month which is ridiculously high so I’m guessing I’m getting a refund after the 3 months cycle. Would they still be legally obliged to refund me if I switch to AGL now?

  • What's the best plan to switch to now? AGL Eagles plan at 40% off, 1st month free?

Kleenheat upped their account fee to 6.78c/day now also.

Also, Kleenheat and Alinta absorb the CC fee if direct debiting.
AGL just says "A payment processing fee of up to 0.45% (GST incl.) may apply to payments made from a credit card account" in their direct debit terms.
As much as I love vague statements, is anyone direct debiting to credit card and not being charged the fee?

    • +1

I am using Paypal and no fee for direct debit fee.

      • Thanks for that. I missed the fact you can pay with Paypal at all (I'm assuming you mean you're paying by Paypal funded by credit card)

        • +1

yup .. using credit card that is linked to your paypal account …

  • Is anyone who signed up for this deal able to access AGL rewards?

Cause AGL rewards not working for me :( and I'm about to buy $300 DJ gift cards

    • Yeah I’m able to get Rewards and already got a Priceline gift card. Although I’ve been with AGL so my old account worked. Maybe you have to get connected first?!
