$8 more for local stock, nice.

    • +2

There's AU cashback to consider too.

      • Thanks for the reminder, I've updated the post.

  • +3

Cheaper if you live in NSW and can C&C at Skycomp for $293

    • +2

It's actually cheaper at Amazon if you consider/exclude cash-back (have just edited title price). 😉

  • +1

    Seems not b-die.
    But good price

  • Would this RAM be considered low profile? Would like to ideally use a be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 Cooler and worried about clearance.

    • +2

the LPX line is the low profile stuff. I have been able to use it with the Noctua NH-D14 happily, and it wouldn't have any issues going under my Noctua NH-U9 either (same height at the G.SKill Ares I had in that computer).

    • +2

I thought LPX meant low profile extreme? (whatever 'extreme' means)

Vengeance LPX RAM height is about 33mm < 40mm clearance for Dark Rock Pro 4. So it seems fine.

But I strongly suggest you do your own research.

On a different note, good to see the RAM price return to 2016 level.

      • Price aside, would i be correcting is saying the Ozbargain RAM posted is better than this https://www.pccasegear.com/products/42789/corsair-vengeance-… performance wise? Just want to make sure, don't really care about all the RGB wank.

        • The corsair ram has tighter timings at c15. The lpx has c16. Don't know how much real world difference it would make but I wouldn't expect much.

          • @MrChadley: That's simply wrong, cl15 at 3000mhz is identical to cl16 at 3200, and the other timings are slightly faster on this ram. Not enough of a difference to base any decisions on it.

            • @Larwood: That's why I said the difference is likely nothing. Also I thought they were the same speed my bad :p

        • don't really care about all the RGB wank.

I just leave it as 'whatever rocks yer boat'.

the Ozbargain RAM posted is better than this

I'd look at the following spec:
          This: 3200Mhz transfer SPD latency - 15-15-15-36 2x 8GB modules
          PCCG: 3000Mhz transfer SPD latency - 15-17-17-35 4x 4GB modules

The parameters (Mhz, and latency) are not that different, so you won't see much performance difference between the two, unless you do a lot of random memory transfers (e.g. video editing, compression, database).

          • @Jiv: This ram is 16-18-18-36 according to Corsair's website.

            • @Larwood: My bad, you are correct. 16-18-18-36.

Which puts the performance between the two much closer.

        • Price aside, would i be correcting is saying the Ozbargain RAM posted is better than this https://www.pccasegear.com/products/42789/corsair-vengeance-… performance wise?

A tiny bit better performance wise but nothing noticeable.

If you have a quad channel capable system such as Threadripper then using 4x8 would be better than 2x16 in certain scenarios such as video encoding.

    • I wouldn't classify it as 'low-profile', although the LPX range certainly has a lower profile than most other brands with similar RAM.

  • Not very good on AMD system, but should be fine on Intel platform.

    • Is this because of the B-Die episode?

One person remarked getting B-Die isn't necessary for Ryzen unless overclocking the RAM. Anyone confirm?

      • I used to have LPX 3200Mhz but the 8GB version and it struggles to boot above 2933Mhz. That was a year ago though.

    • What is some good ram for AMD? One of my Vengeance sticks is dodgy.

    • +2

B-Die is not so much of an issue now with BIOS updates.

    • +1

      Not very good

Meaning almost no difference at all.

    • Idk about these kits now but my brother's 16gb 3200 LPX kit isn't stable at 3200 on his Asus Z170-K Motherboard. Actually, when he first bought it, he wasn't even able to get 3000.

I had a Camel Camel Camel price drop trigger for Corsair Apple Certified 16 GB (2x8 GB) DDR3 1600MHz (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory 1.35V at $69.99 USD
    https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Certified-1600MHz-Laptop-Memo…

May be of use for anyone still rocking a circa 2012 mac mini or macbook pro.

Hmm, should I get or should I wait. Trade war between US and China will result in less demand for RAM. This was the price I've paid 3 years ago.

    • -1

do NOT buy ram right now they are complete fu cking rip offs. i paid $60 for a 8gb 1600 back in 2011, now 8gb 1600 are MORE EXPENSIVE after 8 years. we need to stop buying for the price to come down.

      • +3

just wait another 8 years it will be cheaper.

      • +1

Buy now and sell in 8 years time, win-win

      • +1

This logic is stupid, you don't always have to be an utter and complete (tight) ass.

        • -1

hows is it being tight? i refused to be gouged by price fixers, i will not be gouged 1 cent by fixers of this degree (4 times at peak of ram). the manufacturers have already been investigated and fined, they are fixing far beyond tolerable. if they just did 50% more than normal price i'd be fully ok getting gouged.

          • +1

@Gerry H: You're refusing to but something simply because it's more expensive then what it used to be, which is ridiculous as advancements in technology aren't simple nor free.

What is the 'normal price' exactly?

            • -1

@magic8ballgag: i already said, 8gb 1600 ddr3 are more expensive than before, that's exactly the same product than 8 years ago. just look up ram prices last year, now they are better but still overpriced af, 8gb 1600 still more expensive. the suppliers (micron samsung and someone else) were fined 100million for price fixing in asia. ur statement about technology not being free applies to rtx 2080 ti and the likes, not to stupid memory that's exactly the same as 8 years ago and higher end memory that cost more than cpus. why dont u do some reading before making ridiculous accusations?

              • +1

@Gerry H: A lot of things in the modern world are more expensive than they used to be. Are you going to refuse to buy petrol too?

What accusations are you referring to?

                • @magic8ballgag: ur comparing petrol to 50 years ago where inflation has a significant impact. accusations? seriously ur asking that? u continue to attack a strawman without having any real knowledge of the memory market.

                  • +1

                    @Gerry H:

ur comparing petrol to 50 years ago where inflation has a significant impact.

So inflation is fine but RAM manufacturers randomly raising the price on technology isn't?

                    accusations? seriously ur asking that?

I am, what accusations have been made and by whom?

u continue to attack a strawman without having any real knowledge of the memory market.

That's a bad assumption on your behalf, but think whatever you may.

                    • -1

                      @magic8ballgag: wow… 50 years vs 8 years…

i see no point in arguing with ur type.

                      • +1

@Gerry H: Where are these accusations then? Or do you like to just have a whinge online and and then bail?

                        • -1

@magic8ballgag: cant even read then strawman… just had to reply once more for how pathetic u are.

                          • +1

@Gerry H: You don't like being called out on your shenanigans, do you?

                            • @magic8ballgag: called out? wow seriously, so ur one of those self righteous guys who think he is just better and feel good by degenerating others who disagree with u? i've dealt with enough people of ur type, i can make ur type stfu if i spend time but pointless doing it over a worthless internet argument.

  • Is red more expensive because red goes faster?

    • Yes, subjectively 10% faster.

  • Hmmm, not sure if this is a good deal. I've had a look on IJK and the price I'm seeing is $285 as the normal price.

  • O.7cm is very low profile

  • For those looking for low profile ram, get G.Skill Aegis, or other heat-spreaderless sticks - it is 31.2mm high (this is 33mm).
For Very low profile ram (18mm, the same height is the RAM slot itself), the only reputable option is the ADATA Very Low Profile 2666mhz, only available at Aliexpress.

Most coolers support 40mm high as the limit for ram.
