    I

  • I was just looking at this yesterday. Weird timing

Are you going to get one OP?

    • Yeah just bought one. I've got no watch at the moment so I'm desperate. Been going through Huawei GT and Galaxy Watch, didn't like either of them.. hope this will be the one. Although aware of the old processor but I just can't wait without having any watch on my wrist :)

      • Wow.. at $300 a try, you really want to hope this is the one for you.

What are you going to use it for? I can see a lot of potential for these, but it just seems like the software support is not there atm.

I'll just sell it again if its not working for me. Probably lose $50ish if its within the next few months.

I don't use a great deal of the features. But those that I use I'm hoping it works well such as Google Pay (my Bankwest wont work with Samsung/Apple/Garmin pay), answer/reject calls, find my phone, consistent bluetooth connection, spotify control, step tracker and HR monitoring.

But as Big Paddy said below (not sure how he read my mind), it will probably never replace my Apple Watch, which I still haven't sold because I couldn't part with it yet. If nothing comes through in a couple years I might go back to iPhone just so I can use Apple Watch haha

      • I have one, works ok. Not a patch on an Apple watch though.

I've also used the GT and find the To watch far better

      • That was my first port of call actually haha, but its missing one important feature: a microphone.
Without it, you can't take voice notes, which for me is a deal breaker.

        • I think it very much depends on your lifestyle / habits / intended use / etc. Honestly I've never thought of taking voice notes myself; maybe this is something that I need to consider.

Stratos is also missing an NFC function / spotify control (I think???), so Ticwatch may look very appealing for someone who requires it.

          • @and: Definitely, its very much a personal thing. For instance just from my brief look I think the stratos is one of the best units you can buy if you want are a person who lives a very active lifestyle, with lots of running and swimming (the waterproof rating is crazy good). The smartphone connectivity seems like it was chucked in there as a bonus. If you look at it that way, its a brilliant watch for the money.

Myself though, I'm more into the personal organisation side of things. I want something to keep me on track.
I'm trying to switch from doing things by task, to setting time periods and then working my best to fit inside them.
Like say 'clean the house for the next hour'. Its something I hate to do, so having a wristwatch counting down the time until I could rest would be really handy. And then if I had any thoughts or ideas while I was cleaning, I could record them quickly and not get distracted.

Pretty old processor. Runs android wear. Decent otherwise.
I'd still personally prefer Samsung watches with Tizen OS unless you need a critical app like Pokemon Go or something.

Android wear still doesn't usually do continuous HR tracking or automatic sleep tracking. I've sacrificed most of the "smartness" from a smartwatch to get better battery life, good sleep tracking and accurate fitness features by going with the Fitbit Ionic. I'll freely admit the smart features on it are rubbish though (notifications don't come through etc). I'm an android user through and through but there is no doubt the Apple Watch is the king of smartwatches. I wish it was compatible with android.

Yeah there's so much to like from the Apple Watch. The design and the OS is way beyond what's available for Android. I'm surprised after all these years no one could really contend its position. I've got Apple Watch Gen 1, even that (to me at least) is still better than Samsung Galaxy Watch for the functions that are available on both.

Also, I like to have a nice looking watch too. And so far I couldn't find anything that fits my wrist the way Apple Watch do. Really hope this Ticwatch looks and feels good on my wrist, might buy a stainless steel band to make it nicer.

  • I bought one at the same price from Amazon last week. I'm a little disappointed. The lag when opening apps is long with none to little feedback. Sometimes it doesn't respond. This is my first real smartwatch. There really isn't much in the play store. I should have paid a little more and gone with Samsung.

    • Tested out the Google Pay yet?

      • no. not yet. i'll setup now.

    • Using latest software? They said the latest patch improved the lag. But if its really that bad, I suppose I can return it under their 30 day money back guarantee

    • Just got this today. Updated the firmware. But as u said, the lag is so bad. Tizen OS and Huawei's Simple OS is definitely better in this regard. I even crashed the OS on first few hours, stuck on google assistant page. Pressed the top button that supposed to take me back to watch face but it wouldn't so I had to restart it.
