I was initially skeptical that this was for a pack of 5, as the price of a single roll is usually around $10-14. DigiDirect sell a single roll for the same price of $18.95.

Ordered 2 packs just to see what would turn up. If I got delivered 2 single rolls, I would've just returned them but sure enough I got the 10 rolls.

Budget, higher grain rolls like Kodak ColorPlus 200 or FujiColor C200 are found for about $6 each. At $3.79 per roll, you'll get a professional quality portrait film with much finer grain instead. I normally shoot Portra 400 which is already fine but from places I've read, the 160 variety is finer. So great for scanning.

Same seller has Kodak 400 super cheap as well Kodak 6034052 Ultra Max 400 Film (Blue/Yellow) - $12.27

    • Just keep in mind that they are 24 shots instead of 36. I probably would've bought some but the Portra 160 price is outrageous.

      • yeah I did notice that, you lose out on dev & scan costs :P but still quite cheap. I grabbed some Portra 160's as well, loaded up for a while now.

      Hillvale

      • Second Hillvale. I post my rolls in to them, two days later I’m sent a paypal invoice which returns a link to my developed photos once paid. $20 for development and hi-res scans.

Film Never Die, fastest service by far and so friendly!

    • +1

Been going to FilmNeverDie recently because of $13 dev + hi-res scan. However, their service is very inconsistent lost negatives, sending wrong photos, taking 3+ days for scans. Othertimes I've received my scans the same day as being dropped off. As for other budget options Halide Supply in Collingwood recently opened up which also offer $13 dev + high res scan (yet to try them). On the hunt for a new place but options are limited for an affordable dev + high res scan.

      • Look at investing in a scanner

I've got a DLSR macro setup with the nikon ES-2. Makes scanning very quick

I feel like Film Never Die are a good option because they’re so conveniently located as well. It’s easy to stop by their Bourke St store to drop off film. Plus other places take around a week so yes, it can be annoying that it really varies with time to get the scans back but they’re still the quickest I’ve found. I’ve never had your issues though, sorry to hear about that!

  • Thanks OP I bought 2, considered getting more but I’ve never used Portra 160 before. Not too bummed about not being able to buy more, just happy I got some 😊

  • Just got my shipping confirmation :)
