While I don't think you can call $1499 a bargain for a GPU, this is a pretty good price. It has a 3 fan layout together with a 3 year warranty.

    Cheap for a 2080Ti, but I still can't believe how much these things have gone up in price vs my 1080Ti from a couple of years back.

      I sold 1080 Ti to buy a 2080 and made $26.

      At first I was not sure that it was really worth it but after playing one game with RTX (Metro Exodus) I think it is.

      Ray tracing can look amazing.

      Mind you I was planning on skipping this generation and only got the 2080 because I lost no money by doing it.

        I’m in a similar boat to you.

        I a old my 1080Ti recently for $800 so I lost a little but bought a full Techfast PC with a 2080 for under $1500 as I needed a desktop PC with loads of storage (vs my gaming laptop and eGPU solution which was getting messy). I was planning to skip this generation too! But I’m a sucker for deals on OzBargain.

        plenty of 1080 going for ~$500 on gumtree and facebook market place. you've just gotta test out the card first, or have some buyer protection with paypal. sold my 1080 for $520 and got a msi duke 1080ti for $750 twas good times

          ah 2nd hand. i never buy 2nd products. cheapest i saw was 699 a few month after i bought 1070 for 615 in 2017. then crypto sky rocketed the price.

      Wow. My one cost $1,249 brand new in 2016, but I got the EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW GAMING version. I'm not really sure if the FTW edition was worth the price bump, but haven't had issues with games so I guess it was worth it at the time?

        I mean, it's kind of weird of you to say the PS4 is denying yourself* enjoyment, I have both a fully kitted PC and a PS4, and the PS4 can be super fun at times, as can the PC. Yes a PC can output better graphics, but still.

        I'd say $500 for a media center + blu-ray drive + gaming device is not a bad price at all. There's no need to have a PC superiorty complex if the man/woman enjoys the PS4.

          I agree if you only have $500 then the PS4 is a great deal, but if you have a lot more, there is no denying that the odd $3000 it costs to make a top of the line is mostly worth it, assuming you didn't spend money you shouldn't have.

          ps4 has horrible graphics and fps. if he said ps4 pro or x1x i wouldnt of made my comment. try going back to 900p medium settings after 4k or even just 1440p ultra.

        Not even remotely comparable. I got AC odyssey on PS4 Pro and PC, as I thought I might want to play on couch…it really shows just how far the PS4 has fallen behind now, even with the Pro variant. I’ve ended up playing the PC version 95% of the time (with an Xbox controller) because the graphics are so much better

        Not to mention PC ability to play on ultrawide screens which really amp up the immersion.

    anyone have the OC version of this card? how is it performing?

    Edit: based on a lot of reviews, it seems like some people have the issue where the GPU died in few days, a month or 2 so it's a bit scary to buy it

      I bought the Gaming OC version off Ebay 2-3 weeks ago.

      I had a 1080Ti aorus xtreme prior.

      First thing I noticed was the greater heat this puts out compared to my 1080ti. The 100% power limit on this card is 300w and for demanding games you will be at constant 300w. The card was hitting 80 degrees under load, at that point the cards fans rev up to 4000 rpm for a short period. My case temps were high 45-50 degrees and while playing you can feel the room get noticeably warm.

      I had to increase my case fan speeds because the heat was building up and getting trapped between my tower cooler and the card. I have another 140mm case fan coming this week to place at the top of my case because the 1 rear 140mm fan isn't enough to exhaust all that hot air.

      I found setting the card to 90-95% power limit keeps the heat saturation from building in my case. 270-280w power limit seems to be a sweet spot. Gpu temps at this setting around 75-77 degrees.

      With side panel off and 23 degree ambient, I am seeing around 77-78 degrees with 300w constant loads. You can push the power limit to 366w but the fans run at 4000rpm constantly to keep the card from overheating. Card temps though don't go above 80 degrees with 366w power limit, but the fan noise is just unbearable. This is really a mode you run for benches or if you plan to run the card on water.

      Basically the 2080ti is a hot power hungry beast. The cooler is capable but the problem will be heat saturation in your case/environment. So if you get one be prepared to do some case upgrades as well. If you downclock the power limit closer to FE power limit levels(260w) you'll get nice quiet/cool performance(72 degrees).

      Oh also mine came with samsung memory. I was able to boost core by +140 and my memory can overclock up +1500. I run it +140/+1000 currently, 95% power limit till the new case fans arrive. Case is enthoo pro m with 2x140mm front 1x140mm rear currently.

    Hi - I bought the Gigabyte Gaming OC 2080 TI late last year. I had all sorts of odd issues with it and my monitor would seem to randomly disconnect for a few seconds. By under-clocking my memory, it stabilized. Turned out I had Micron DD6 memory which was the issue. I sent the card back, got checked out by the vendor and RMA'd.

    My new version has Samsung memory and I can OC it like a champ - hit power limit of the card and it's perfectly stable and fine. So no issues now.

    Oh - I was looking at putting and EK water block on the card. Looks like Gigabyte put a fan header next to the power cutout. This means the standard EKWB that EK recommends for this won't fit without some light modding. Nothing major - could probably bend it put of the way or remove/resolder the fan header if needed. From memory this was only on the Gaming OC card. The Non OC doesn't have this.

    Also if you want to know the difference between these two Gigabyte cards - from memory - at the time I bought it the Gaming OC - the OC version is slightly thicker due to better cooling. Has higher power limits - which is also the bottleneck on most cards. To move up from this card, the cards with the highest power cap are from EVGA. And the gains are small (in real world) for a large cost increase.

    And for what it's worth - I have 2x4k HDR monitors running off this. My main one is the Acer Predator x27. I run most games at 98hz - though it can push to 144hz if you want to drop down to 4:2:2. Considering I'd have to drop detail as well to gain frames, I find 98h, is a happy medium - plus fans stay quiet. And if you want to see HDR looking freaking amazing - as well as everything - I highly recommend this monitor as well.

      What temps are you hitting in Furmark VaeVictis with 100% power limit(300w).

      The fact you're considering putting it on water seems to indicate you're seeing the same massive heat output this card is capable of.

        Heya mate - Temp was never a problem, I just like building computers and tinkering around. On stock fan curve, it rarely cracks 70ºC on air. Just ran a 3DMark Time Spy test to check results. N

        Summary:
        Maximum temp - 64ºC
        Graphics score: 15 345
        Graphics test 1 - 97.14 FPS
        Graphics test 2 - 90.33 FPS

        Clock 2055 MHz (1350 MHz)
        Memory clock 1875 MHz (1750 MHz)

        Note: this was using my normal daily build and boot settings/apps. I know the card can be OC'd a bit more, but it's 100% stable and the extra few frames aren't going to save my hide in any of the games I play.

          Thanks for that, You have a really good case, with lots of volume and plenty of 140mm fans. I found the GPU really needs the room to breath and good case airflow.

          You're right about overclocking, I found that you can push em harder but the improvement only yields 1-2% improvement for much higher noise and power use. Boost 4.0 already pushes the card to the limit pretty well.

          Did some testing and it looks like you're running the 260w 100% power limit bios. Which Gives 15300 in graphics score and the much lower temps you're seeing.

          Newer bioses have a 300w 100% power stock limit which is what I got on mine (F10 bios), that gives 15600 for graphics score but it comes with much higher temps, around 5-7 degrees higher in 3d mark.

          So thanks again, good to sanity check what I'm seeing.

        Use that and on the 'Graphics Card' tab (main screen) - look 2/3 of the way down on the left side next to Memory Type. Will say 'GDDR6 (Samsung)'

        Samsung GDDR6 can OC like a champ. Hynix is very close in terms of performance. Sounds like all the 2019 cards have been fine. Either way, you can probably add around 450-500 MHz if you're wanting to OC it.

    Prices are ultra inflated and the exchange rate is horrible.

    Unless you are a single adult with a full time job please dont waste money on this, get something around $400-600 (or hold onto what you have) and wait til next gen or atleast until raedeons new cards come out (a few months) which will be comparable to the 2070/2080 and reduce nvidias high end pricing monopoly.

      Mate - I agree with you. I'm a middle aged guy, work in IT and been building computers since I had a Voodoo2 with 8 MB of RAM. No matter what, my mother would still kick my butt if she knew how much I spent on a toy that makes some pixels move slightly faster than those pixels did on the card it replaced.

      I use a 1070 TI in my other rig and side by side, the main difference is the 2080 TI can run 4k over 60hz with higher settings. Has had absolutely zero impact on my gaming experience and doesn't make up for the fact I get whooped by people a fraction of my age - and I can't even blame my computer….

      I'm sure it's the input lag…or…internet ping…or something….

      Can't possibly be my lack of skills!

      Oh, I do a lot of photo/video editing as well - and I like to tell myself the 2080 TI helps with that too (even though it really doesn't)
